A lot of people have mentioned hearing their piggies chirp, sort of a chirping/clucking sound, and wondering what it means. I had to make an early morning pit stop, and the bathroom is right outside the piggy room door. All the lights were still off, but when I left the bathroom, LG started chirping. I went in to the piggy room to find them all lined up at the side of the cage, waiting for a treat. She was telling me they were awake and wanted a treat, as I usually just go straight back to bed. As soon as I got to the cage and acknowledged them, she stopped, and they all waited for their treats. So at least in this case, chirping meant "Yo, Mom, we're awake in here and want a treat"!!!!! lol.

My guinea pigs wheek when they want a treat. They've only done that bird chirping sound once...

Orla chirps/clucks literally ALL the time lol, like she's talking for Misty who barely ever makes a sound. But mine only say "WHEEWHEEWHEE FEED US" to greet me with haha. That's so cute how they were all lined up! I love it when only one pig talks and the others are silent with "you tell'em" looks on their faces. I've never heard the bird noise D:

Hub says she does it about once a month, and he thinks it has more to do with being in heat. I don't know. I hadn't heard it in a long time, and the last time I heard it she wanted a treat, too. She also wheeks for treats, and a very high, clear voice. She's my singer, so they get her to get my attention, lol.

Its a weird one isnt it? Mine have mostly done it in the dead of night when its all quiet...Wilma did it once in the day and I managed to catch it on video and last night, i had cleaned the cages, the girls had had some free time and were all back and settled for the night and Hantaro started singing up!
The others were all lined up and Pebbles, who is housed with her was sniffing her mouth and noise! hehe

We go to the grocery store and come back with paper bags, my girls go nuts thinking it's treat time. All they here is the rustling paper. The spinach I give them is in cellophane packaging so that stirs their senses. They all line up on the side of the cage looking at us and wheeking. So I feel sorry for them and give them an early treat. I spoil them something aweful.

Mine chirp practically every night at 1-4am. And their cage is right outside my bedroom... *insert long-suffering emoticon here*
