I want to build a C&C cage but we are going to be on vacation so I need to know where to get the materials. I looked at CavyCages.com and found some places but thought I would ask here too! I live in Maryland so remember you might have some shops we don't have.

You can take out your yellow pages and look under 'signs.' I had to call around for a while before I found some place local that had sheets of coroplast, and then they were leery about selling them to me until I told them I wanted to use them to build guinea pig cages. I actually wound up buying mine quite a distance from me because I was in the area.
The place I bought them from charged me $12 for a 4 ft. by 8 ft. sheet. The place locally was charging $15 for the same size sheet.

OH--and I got used grids off Ebay. I also used the grids to make a hay rack, loft, ramps, etc. I did cover the ramps with coroplast with a towel on top. I did use the grids to make a cover, too, but that hasn't worked as well since they can flop even with tight cable ties.
I got the cable ties at Walmart. I also bought at Walmart a Rubbermaid step stool as a hidey house for the 3 boys.

Ok I don't think I want to try ebay but thanks anyway. I hear target and bed bath and beyond are known to have the cubes. I am more worried about the building, and finding the coroplast now.

I've heard Costco also has the grids.
It isn't really hard to put them together, but for stability I really recommend the cable ties.
Enjoy New Jersey! When do you go?

We will be going to Cape May! But at least 2 days we will be venturing off to Wild Wood in NJ for there awesome waterparks and amuesment park. I also heard abotu costco but have never heard of cosco so i thought it would be better to stick with target and bed bath and beyond. Can you tell me what is a good price?

That part I can't help you with since I bought my grids used. I don't have a Costco near me. I have friends that go to Cape May and Wildwood and love it. I've never been there.
Hopefully there's more info on the different stores and they're prices. You may want to go to each of their websites and check out the sizes/prices of their grid systems to give you an idea.

I'd love to go to Cape May--we usually go to Virginia Beach but Cape May is much closer to us. Maybe one day; it's hard organizing vacations, especially now with five piggies. We really have no one to take care of them, so I doubt we'll be going anywhere for a while.
Good you're doing the research on prices now!

Yea I was just doing some research on the cubes at www.bedbathandbeyond.comTo make a 2x4 cage with a lid and 2 grids up it would be $79.96. That is if my calcualtions are correct. Thats for 4 packs of 8 which would get you 32 grids. I also tried with the backs of 4 for 14.99 and that cost more. Any tips? Plus I still need coroplast.

Wait.
I changed the cage size and got it cheaper. I think this is correct. Ok so a 2x4 cage. With a lid all the way around. That should be 16 grids (I think) which for darn wait wrong calculations let me redo this.
ok it would be $59.96. for 4 packs of 4 grids. Wait.... I think I am doing this all wrong...

That's the tricky part--how many grids are to a cube!
Cause it did sound pricey what you were coming up with. Do you really need your cage to be two grids high? I think most people have it one grid high and do just fine. That will keep your cost down. Do you have cats or other pets that may get in? If not, you may not need a cover either. I have a cat and little kids, so I really need the lid.

jemimas right, 2 cubes high really isnt nesscecary, most pigs are to lazy to jump over lol. place 1 over the corners cause when frightened they run up the corners to get out.

I need a lid because I have two dogs. I but down too 1 grid high and got it down to.... 19.99. I had been counting wrong I had been counting each cube as a grid but its really each cube has 4 grids. I think a set of 6 cubes has 17 grids so thats perfect(I think) for a 2x4 cage with a lid.
