Sometimes when it rains and I can't put my Guineas out all day I feel sorry for them and I want to let them have a good old run in the fresh air. My friend has a guinea pig lead and hers seem to like it. i'm considering getting one but then I think they're cruel and unnatural. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about tham for me or perhaps any other special types of leads that are comfortable for the pigs.

I really wouldn't recommend a lead/harness for a guinea pig. Guinea pigs are fragile, have a short neck and if they suddenly run, much damaged can be caused. I can't get over how some manufactures would make one for a guinea pig. Do your guinea pigs live in a shed or your house? I wouldn't worry about them being out in an outside run having fresh air everyday. As long as they get plenty of free range time indoors or in a large indoor run, so they have the chance to exercise everyday, thats whats important.

I've never understood cavy leads. They're dangerous and it is not as if they need walks of several kilometres every day, like dogs do. As Clover says, a run will do!

I bought one off ebay once, the only one who liked it was Toffee but I haven't used it in ages cause I don't think it's right.

I had one for my piggies, but none of them liked it, so i've never used it since. And I agree, i dont think it matters if they are indoors or out, as long as they get some exercise.

They live outdoors (but I'm trying to persuade my mum to let me have an indoor hutch!) and they do have a big run outside. I'm not going to get a lead because i would be worried to strangle them so i would keep it on dead loose and they'd probably escape lol!

Most likely the cavy will slip through the harness. You can use a harness for a rabbit, for for a cavy? Come on- like they really would like to go on a walk! My dog loves going a few miles, and gets his leash(sooo cute!), but for cavies, YEA RIGHT.
