Is she large or have you noticed her gettting bigger? She may be pregnant as the gestation period is about 2 months. Does she have a cage mate? The other may be male. She may of course just be feeling a bit off colour. Welcome to wheekers.

A pigs is preggers for about 2 months I think. Were there other pigs in the cage with her at the pet store? They don't generally have the best reputation for sexing. As for being quiet...... It is different for each pig, my girl Snowy, hardly ever wheeks, whereas Toffee wheeks 24/4. I think she even does while she is asleep lol....

lol...then i dont think princess is pregnant....i just find it really weird. then i would pet her and she would kinda growl or chatter..i dont even know the word. but then she'd stop. then she'd run around and make long wheeks..i thought she was in pain but she looks fine. im really paranoid. i think its cuz i just lost a guinea 2 months ago....i didnt know how much there was to caring for piggys like i do now. i thnk if i knew more ,my other piggy would be alive...

well i got him when he was old . the owner told me he was 10! i had him 3 years and saw he was just drinking more water than usual. after he died, i read somwhere dat if you see dat it can be a sign of liver damge. so im not really sure......but do you think i should worry with princess?

I am sure there is nothing to be worried about, sounds like the random creatures pigs are to me lol. If it was liver damage then even if you had got him to the vets, nothing would of been done apart from maybe prescribe antibiotics or painkillers. Princess sounds lovely. =~)

Josie and her endless chatter LOL Okay first things first. How long have you had Princess? You said she doesnt seem to be in pain, have you ran your hands all over her body and pressed gently and even moved her joints around? Does she wheek or get antsy when you touch a certain part of her body? Like her back? Does she seem to be scratching and reaching around to bite at her back alot? This is what I can say....if her behavior has changed into noisy wheeking and she seems restless, and is scratching a lot she may have a parasite or fungul infection. My Buddy would get restless and vocal whenever he had the mites. I wouldnt rule out pregnancy...did you have the old male and female together? Also she may be coming into what I like to call a teenage stage at around 7 months. This is when they may start getting restless and showing signs of dominance even if there is only one guinea pig....she still has you to try and boss If you havent had her long, say several months she may just be settling in and showing her true personality. My 2 babies are noisy all day and all night!! And as for the growling noise you hear..if its a soft purr like noise not followed by distintive teeth chattering or stiffness of her body then I think that she is just enjoying the attention. Or on the other hand if she may be pregnant (really need to know how long you had her and if she was ever was around males) then they get a bit noisy or reserved and some dont like to be held. Let me know the answers to my questions and we can help you better. !!!!Welcome to Wheekers!!!

If your really worrying, maybe a vet visit would be good. She could just be getting her personality- since I had pigs that had took several months before they showed their real personality.
But if she is showing any signs of hair loss or pain, VET!!! I thought my one pig had mange mites- and treated her, and all that stuff. And she was losing weight, and died! I should of took her to the vet! But I told you that, since you might think it's something, when it's not. I need to find a new vet, my vet charges $51 just for the office visit!!!! That's more than going into a human doctor!!!
She might just be excited about something, or lonely for a friend.
