This happens with guinners! Someone has to be boss. Just make sure it doesn't get too rough or you will have to separate them. I have more problems when I don't keep their daily routine the same. We have less bullying when we keep on schedule.. Every now and then, Lucky tries to become world leader and Rocky has to slap him with his nose.

ok but i have been noticing this more since their 1st birthday, could that be because they are getting older and maybe more territorial

Consider giving them an extra food bowl/water bottle to reduce conflict, if you're finding it to be a real problem. But as Janet says, from what you wrote it seems pretty harmlessly natural. :~)

I always feel sorry for the under piggy.
I'd check Joy for any wounds Amanda because if he's crying out when Almond nips him, he could be really hurting him.
How big is the cage?

A bigger cage might help Amanda. Does Joy seem stressed much of the time, in a state of panic when Almond goes near him?

Maybe you should seperate them, and just have them together for floor time, since bullying gets stressful on the pig getting bullied.

29x29? As Clover says, the cage size would be the main reason for the bullying. When you enlarge it you will find the friction to be quite reduced.

Is that in inches?

I assume so.

My two boars, Ian & Ivan, could have a huge pen, and would still fight. Size is one thing, but if he is truely bullying the other pig, that's another thing. It sounds like Almond is just one of those domaint men. That's one of the reasons I hardly want to get male animals, they are ususally so domaint to others of their kind.

That is a really small cage for two boars, and I am not surprised that there is friction between them. There are of course boar pairs that just don't get along with each other, but I don't think one should just jump to separation until all other avenues have been considered; especially cage size which is so easy to manage using C&C cages.

thats why i am getting a bigger cage.... i have been watching them when i take one out and not the other, and they don't seem to mind. they seem to be getting along better too! i don't know why!?

C & C cages are NOT easy to clean like the website says! A 2 X 3 C & C cage can take up to 30 minutes to clean! I mean when I had Moca in this stacked C & C cage, she was in the bottom, and to clean it, I had to pretty much be inside the cage to clean it!
And you don't need a C & C cage... you can always just buy a bigger cage, or make your own interesting design.

Please can I ask you casper not to use capital letters in a negative way.
The c & c cages do take a little longer to clean, but they are well worth the extra effort and the piggies have much more space, which boars especially need.
I've actually bough a shovel and a long handed brush set, just to brush the debris up, it really helps.
Obviously in a stacked set up its harder, but the piggies do enjoy the extra space.

They take up TONS of room. Half my room is cages - I don't think they are the best design, I mean on the website it says 53" X 39", and how in the world would you get 6 inches on one of the sides, since in reality it's only like 3-4 inches on one side!
