I think we could get most things blocked off okay here, but although we used to do free-ranging, now we have kids I just won't risk it; we just have supervised free roaming which is much safer. The kids are sensible (apart from when they're doing cartwheels and playfighting...!), but it only takes a moment of being excited and opening a door too quickly to cause injury, so I'd rather play it safe.

I agree, plus we can't possibly think of all the places and things the guineas can get into. Morty used to break down the barriers. He was like a bulldozer, and at 5 pounds, he could even move the paving stones I used to block his path One member left her door open just long enough to put the trash in the trash can, came back and never found her piggy, who was roaming the house. I don't think she ever forgave herself

I used to make Lego, or Duplo Block houses for Morty, which he would trash immediately. It was as if they were meant for destruction. He was such a big guy, not much survived him on a destructive rampage. He loved those houses. I could see his eyes brighten as he took off to level it as fast as possible I would have loved to have seen that.

That is horrid Piggles love, I am afraid that would worry me too if they were permanently free range. Me too, I have had destructive bunnies but never a piggy. Hugs Jo xx

Baz, Morty on a mission made Arnold Schwartzeneger look like a school boy, lol It was a sight to see! We could piggy proof this place fairly easily, and I would love to allow them to roam, but hubby would never accept piggy beans on the floor in his space. I've always given the pigs floor time, but not all of my pigs like floor time. Grishy didn't like it at all. Molly preferred to sit on my lap and watch the others. Dallas would sit on my lap and watch Zippy for a while, then he'd go down my legs like a ramp, and join Zip. I haven't had the girls out for floor time, as I'm no longer really able to catch them if they decide they don't want to go back in the carrier. Once I get down on the floor, I can't always get back up. I need to make a new run for them, that I can close into a small area that's easy to get to them. Then they can come out and run around Jo, all wires, chair/table legs, etc. have to be covered so they can't get their teeth into them. I don't know what it is with them and wires, but guineas and bunnies do love to chew wires.

All wires are inaccessible here Piggles love because of Holly, it is just that piggles are much smaller and can fit into tiny places so free range would not be a god idea. I love the thought of it although I would worry about them being trodden on, I am such a clumsy clutz lol!

I would worry about falling over them, as falling isn't something I should do. Bunnies more than piggies, as piggies tend to try to get out of the way, TEND being the operative word there Zippy would sit on my feet. They were his feet, and he claimed them

Baz, Morty on a mission made Arnold Schwartzeneger look like a school boy, lol It was a sight to see! That inspired me to look on YouTube for videos of guinea pigs knocking things down, but although there were a good number of them... they all disappointed me. Morty wins.

I've never had steady hands, so my few attempts to video his exploits were really bad. I used to make a maze out of the waffle blocks, and many pieces had doors. Why use a door when you can pretend to be the coolaid pitcher, and knock down walls, lol

I have too be aware of Holly every time I move Piggles love but she has learned to get out of the way when either of us approaches. Ha ha, good boy Morty lol!
