I've never heard of a sow getting impacted. In males, the caecal poops get stuck in the 'sac' between the anus and testicles. Obviously the sows don't have this, so I'd be very surprised to hear of one getting impacted.

ok hhhmmm I think I need piggie bio lessons....someone point me in right direction + how on earth do you hold a pig on its back....Jack has hard time co-operating right way up at best of times

For feisty piggies, I usually wrap them up in a towel. If you need to, you can have someone else hold the cavy while you do whatever job you need to down there.
