I have a dog who I let interact with the guinea pigs under close supervision. Even though he's never tried to nip at them since his young puppy days (on which occasions he got a very good telling off), they are never allowed alone together. Like Kathy and Levi said, dogs are predatory animals by nature and I know that even a sweet, loving dog like Sparkle might go after one of the pigs if he was hungry and no one was watching.
I'm glad you're getting a table!
