I'm Chief Mummy of the piggies, but I also have a few other animals.
Name: Sheba
Age: 12
Sex: Female
Breed: Border Collie Cross
History: A Cyprus dog. Lived with 2 Cypriot boys who fed her nothing but human junk food (takeaways etc.). She was dumped and later rescued by a British rescue in Cyprus. She was so overweight she couldn't stand up or walk. She was adopted by one British family, who got her weight down to 38kg before they put her back on the rehoming list at the rescue again. We adopted her in 2002, and she now weighs 32kg. She has arthritis and muscle wastage, but she is such a sweetie.
Name: Bosun
Age: 15
Sex: Male (neutered)
Breed: Shih Tzu
History: He's had a pretty straightforward life, unlike Sheba. He is brother and son to Crufts champions,a nd is a pedigree. He was given to us by a friend who could no longer keep him (she had bought two puppies who kept attacking Bo) in 1999. He is now 15 years old, 16 in May, and is at least 80% blind, deaf and arthritic. He's still a nutter though!
Name: Sonic
Age: 1 year
Sex: Female
Breed/species: Syrian Hamster
History: Bought in August 2004. She is a very sweet hammie, but she does bite anything and everything. She loves being spoken to, and has such an adorable little character.
Past Pets:
Name: Rosie
Age: 15 when died
Sex: Female
Breed: Border Collie Cross
History: Rosie joined the family 2 years before I was even born. She was adopted at the age of 6 months from a Blue Cross centre in Yorkshire in January 1987, and died on 3rd February 2002, at the age of 15 years.
I had spent no longer than one week apart from Rosie since I was born, so it was tough when she first went. She lived her last years in Cyprus, suffering from Kidney failure, arthritis and deafness. I say suffering, but she loved life up until the weekend when we had her euthanised.
There was no going back for her - we think she could have suffered a stroke and a couple of fits; she wasn't eating, drinking, taking her medication, or doing anything, and was showing classic symptoms of an animal who has had a stroke.
We still have her ashes now, almost 4 years on. We were going to scatter them in the sea in Cyprus, but we move around so much and we want her to stay close until we get settled in some way.
Be good, Rosie-posie. We'll see you again one day. xx
