Hi guys...I'm Beckee...having fun here already!
Just wanted to tell all about my none piggie pets who are jealous of all the attention the guineas are getting!
First up I have Rosie a 9 year old black miniature poodle. I got Rosie when she was 3 from a grooming client (I'm a dog groomer) I used to use her for shows and demos etc then the owners decided they didn't want her anymore as they had a new baby so she stayed with me! She is a bit of a minx most of the time but keeps us all on our toes!
Taffy my 2 year old Siamese cross came from the rescue centre that I worked part time at. I went in one morning and saw her in a cage in the corner and she miaowed at me all day until I gave in and she came home too! She is crazy for elastic bands or hair scrunchies and we have to be really careful to throw them out before she gets hold of them or she chews them up.
Lola is a beautiful 3 year old brown and white puss cat. She came to us after someone answered an ad I had placed for my lost cat who looked very similar. We went along to see if it was her which it wasn't but found a poor stray puss who had been drinking from the families swimming pool. They couldn't feed her anymore as they were moving so we took her home, planning to drop her at the shelter the next day but she leapt straight up on my bed, started purring and let me scratch her tummy and she has been here ever since. She loves sleeping under the duvet at night or in the bath when you have just let the water out so she gets all soggy!
Sid is our 18 month old ginger tom! He also came from the shelter. We originally took him as we thought he was a girl which is really rare with gingers but a week or so later we began to realise different! He even had the vets fooled for a while and there was a lot of double checking! He is pretty dumb but very sweet and loves to play ball!
Bonnie and Clyde are my cockatiels! I have had them for about three years and they were from another grooming client. Since I have had them they have continued to lay eggs but never produce any chicks ( I think clyde has no lead in his pencil...oops!) but are happy to go through the motions and in fact when I tried to remove their nest box, Bonnie got very stressed so we just keep up the supplements and let nature do its best!
Beefa the budgie is supposed to be with me for only 3 months while his owners work overseas but I have a feeling he will stay..if that is the case he will have a friend soon too!
Pan and Crumbs are my two zebra finches. Pan arrived after a friend came home to find he had flown into her house and was sat on her sofa! She couldn't keep him so we took him in then another friend who breeds them donated Crumbs as a friend for him!
We also have a large tropical fish tank including Mollies, barbs, danios, tetras and plecos.... 8 mice rescued from being breed as snake feeders by some local boys (kept them in buckets and plastic tubs...we are down from 18 originally) and of course my guina pig Hantaro who was a birthday gift to my boyfriends 5 year old nephew...his family thought she was a hamster (have no idea where they got him) and after a few months the novelty wore off and I took her in to live alongside my now sadly departed Fred and Barney. The best news is that today we got two new baby girl guineas so the house is full of popcorning fun once again!
Thats it for now although the pet count is always going up and down so who knows what tomorrow will bring!!
If I ever figure out how to post pictures I will do so!
