I've always wondered what it would be like to have a rabbit as I was orginally going to get a rabbit but I read on the PDSA website that they are a lot more work than guinea pigs. I don't know whether this is true lol!
Pet ownership is a funny old thing, isn't it? I've been reflecting on this a lot since my little Poppet died. To think that nearly two years ago I contacted the rescue and asked if they had a pair of guinea pigs and that I was quite reluctant to take three of them as I worried about what I would do when I went on holiday! And then I had such a happy time with my three girls, and dearly loved Poppet and took such care of her right until the moment she passed away! And now I am enjoying getting to know Treacle and Piggy Wiggin more now that the leading lady of the guinea pig cage has exited. I didn't even see my girls before I adopted them as I didn't have a car so I couldn't visit the resuce. The rescue sent me photos, but there was no way that I was going to say 'no' when there were girlies needing homes!
Ooops! Sorry, I've hijacked poor Thumper's thread lol!

I know what you mean - this time last year I only had 2 cats as had lost Dino's brother Harry and my son was pining badly for him. Dino and Bronte were not getting along at all and giving each other such a wide berth.
Hubby and I decided (well I decided and he went along with it!) that we would get a child friendly pet. My son was fascinated by terrapins so we researched terrapins, rabbits and guinea pigs. We decided against the terrapins as we were afraid would not be able to offer them a big enough home in the future, and we chose guinea pigs rather than a rabbit. We searched locally for weeks but even the pet shops didn't have any. Then we found Holly and Sally and the rest is history. In October we adopted Heidi and Huxley and all 4 cats are the best of friends. Dino and Bronte even curled up together on hubby's legs last night.
Sorry Jackie - back to the gorgeous Thumper.

Clover I did not realize just how smart a rabbit is. It seems to me it is almost like having a cat and a piggy all rolled into one? lol I know I must never go anywhere near them because I would not be able to resist getting one or two or ?? My son would kill me! He thinks I'm a crazy old woman already who is trying to start my own Noah's Ark since I believe in getting two's of everything, except for Lil' Hammie of course. Gosh every time I look at Thumper, I just want to feel how soft and cuddly that fur must be. So luxurious!

Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I have finally got around to sorting some movies out of our Thumper, just 3 for now. I'm afraid I didn't get chance to take a movie of him rolling on his side between my daughters Kathys feet but will keep trying. Here he is wondering if my books are good enough to eat lol Thumper in his favourite place between my Kathys feet. He normally faces the other way. And Thumper bunny hopping. I must remember to tidy up before filming next time lol Hope you like them.

I love Thumper - he is such a cute bunny and always looks like he has a slight air of mischief about him.
I think he took a liking to the look of the leaf on your ironing board!

Oooh an ironing board, I can't remember when I last saw one of those.... lol.
Aww Thumper is such a cutie, and that's so adorable how he sits at Kathy's feet! If she's standing when he does it, does she have to stand still until he moves on, so as to avoid upsetting him?! I bet it's so sweet when he rolls over, it must make her chuffed!

Great new videos of Thumper. He is so cute. He really is a lovely boy. thanks for sharing such great videos. P.S. Is thumper big for a rabbit or is he average size? I think he looks really big, but I suppose I am only used to piggies even though charlotte is over the 3 Ib mark!!!

Lol Treen, I only iron what I really need to iron lol Gone are the days of setting a time every week for ironing. I've even stopped ironing pillow cases lol

Lovely videos, Clover. Does Thumper have the run of a room all of the time? He seems to be exploring in the videos. How sweet that he will sit between your daughter's feet. He must feel very confident!

Donna, Felix and Thumper didn't really spend time together as Felix would run away lol I think he was just scared of what to him was 'a big jumpy animal with big ears 'lol Lovely videos, Clover. Does Thumper have the run of a room all of the time? He seems to be exploring in the videos. How sweet that he will sit between your daughter's feet. He must feel very confident! Thumper is semi-free range Pollie and needs supervised free range time. He explores everything, even though he's seen the same room 100's of times. He likes to scent mark, even my daughter Kathy' to say 'your mine' lol

Poor Felix being scared of the big jumpy animal with big ears!
I think my Sam would be the same. He is scared of his own shadow! He even meow's at the birds out the window, like he is trying to talk to them, hence he has never killed anything, he is a posh paws and is like a black and white Garfield really!!!
Great to have a semi free ranger Clover, its so cute to see a bunny in the living room!!!
I bet your friends think its cool when they come round to see Thumper in the room with you. ;D

Hi Thumper! How are you doing these days? I love your video clips but I bet your mummy will be making new ones of you soon since she has discovered movie maker now! Jackie, what a beautiful rabbit! My granddaughter wants me to get a rabbit now too! I need to be strong and never go around any rabbits or I know I will cave in to her! lol They really are so appealing to me though, are they easy to keep indoors? Do they get along with cats or is that a big no no? I better be careful, next thing I know newpig will talk me into getting rabbits too! lol

Donna, aww your Sam sounds adorable Felix was a bit of Tom outside and would defend his territory from other toms even though he was neutered but his bravery went out of the window with our buns lol He wasn't terrified but would just avoid them. Val, thank you, I'll try and make a music movie of Thumper soon. Have to find a cheeky song to fit his personality lol Lesa would be able to help you more about if you should mix cats and rabbits. If our buns had been smaller, I don't think I'd have let them be in the same room at free range time but as both our buns were big, even Fiver was quite large, they always seemed ok although I didn't leave them alone together.

I always imagined Fiver and Thumper smaller! Thumber is GINORMOUS! I can't get over how big he is compared to Kathy's little feet lol. He looks super healthy, Jackie - and very very happy!
