Wheeeee! It does look fun!
What happens if you brake too early - do you end up dangling in the air before the platform?!

Wheeeee! It does look fun! What happens if you brake too early - do you end up dangling in the air before the platform?! This exact thing happened to Vicki on one of the lines; she applied brakes too early and ended up having to reel herself in. It's no big deal. All you have to do is reach up and turn yourself around and do a hand-over-hand and pull yourself to the end platform. (The idea is to keep your hands away from the pulley system, so you rotate yourself around and maneuver your hands. It may take a minute or two, but Vicki got herself in all right.)

Glad Vicki wasn't hung out to dry for too long Given the fact that it was raining, not much chance of that, LOL! If we hit Colorado next year, they also have ziplining. I'd better be in shape for that! (or save it for last, so I'm only in pain for the long ride home.)

Good to know the pain didn't last too long Zipping in the rain, eh? Does the rain make the zipping any faster or slower?

Zipping in the rain, eh? Does the rain make the zipping any faster or slower? Definitely faster, with all that water making the cable even slicker! Vicki was warned, especially since she was the lightest of the group, that she would go even quicker!

Is there any way to actually record your speeds, the traffic cam equivalent of a GoPro?

Is there any way to actually record your speeds, the traffic cam equivalent of a GoPro? Sorry I missed this question; I don't actually know. I'm just trusting what they tell me. Here's another pic from Ohio, this is Serpent Mound- the largest snake effigy in the world! (I'm standing at the tail in the second pic.)

Wow, about as close to one as I want to get, but cool! Is there anything about why it was built?

Wow, about as close to one as I want to get, but cool! Is there anything about why it was built? I tried to find information, but apparently it's a mystery as to who built it, when it was built, and why. (They thought they found answers, then more evidence would be found that overturned previous findings. The age of the mound keeps changing, and so on.)

We have many ancient relics here in Cornwall (including me lol) and people keep guessing as to why they are there and their original purpose. We have a lot of Celtic crosses and everything which is here today has just been built around them. I would love to see what it was like when they were originally placed there. That mound is so beautiful Baz hunni.

I think archeologists sometimes work too hard to find an exact time and reason, when it's most likely the time is quite variable, depending on the workforce, weather, political climate and a whole lot of other factors. The fact that monuments take a long time to build, and that many forces play into how and when they're built, I'd be surprised to find a monument that could be attributed to a specific time. We know what the Celtic crosses represent, and it's not surprising that they are all over the landscape, as the Celts were all over the landscape. It's likely no two Celtic crosses are from the exact same time.
The snake was probably build, and rebuilt, over time, again depending on all of the different influences at the time. It may even have been abandoned and resumed for periods of time. If it's obviously a snake, it makes sense that it's a way of honoring or worshiping serpents and/or a serpent god.
I've always been interested in the old ways, what motivated people, and how they perceived the world around them.

Me too Piggles love, I wish I could go back but just as an observer, I think there is a lot about the past that we wouldn't like today. For most I should imagine life was gruelling and very hard.

It would be nice to know just how good the good old days really were I would love to see some of the past in action, though, but I would prefer to be a fly on the wall type of observer, so no one would know I was there.

Oh yes, the smells! I would definitely want to skip a whole lot of those, such as before people bathed, used deodorant, etc. I could even skip the whole era of the early home perms. Remember those, Jo! I always ended up looking like Little Orphan Annie; a complete frizz ball! My mother loved those perms, because we couldn't do anything with our hair, so she didn't have to bother with it.
Then there were the pleated skirts. I hated pleated skirts. They never had much form of their own, and wash out all the sizing, and they were pretty limp and droopy!
And of course there were all the illnesses, from plagues to flu to polio. No problem not having those anymore!
