3piggles, you'd probably prefer the old foisty smells to all the modern day perfumes! I thought of you yesterday as I was at a harvest service performance at the school, and seemed to end up sitting in a ring of people who had overdosed on perfume and fabric conditioner. It was stifling!

I do remember them Piggles hunni and what a nightmare they were lol! My mother always had perms and to be honest I wasn't that keen on them. It just seemed to be something that ladies of a certain age had automatically. I too hate pleated skirts and I see that some girls are still wearing them now. The diseases around then do not bear thinking about, your survival chances were very low if you even had so much as a cold.

Bean, I seem to be able to manage natural smells, and if they are lite enough, I can manage citrus and lavender in cleaning solutions. Something about the process of making any scent cloying, and I can't breathe it. I am also highly allergic to it touching my skin. I will break out in a rash or even what appears to be a burn, if perfume touches my skin. I thought I had acne most of my life, until a doctor told me it wasn't acne, it was an allergic reaction to something. Now I know what I'm allergic to.
I'm also allergic to sun screens. If it says SPF on the package, I'm allergic to it.

I am sorry to hear this Piggles love, how are you with scented candles at Christmas? I love my Chanel No5 and would hate not to be able to wear it.

No scented candles, period. Candle and perfume shops make me ill. I can't even have the perfume touch my skin. I used to love perfume, though I didn't realize how damaging it was to me then. Since I stopped smoking, it's as if being able to smell things again caused me all sorts of problems. My holiday house is full of aromas, so I don't miss having scented anythings. There are many wonderful perfumes. They were developed to be dabbed behind the ears on the inside of the wrists, and smelled by that special someone who was close to the wearer. Now, women just seem to pour it on, spray it on like water or bath in the stuff, and men aren't any better. It was never meant to be smelled by everyone within a 5 mile radius, just by that one, very special someone. Now I wish it were banned from public places! We had a fabulous full moon two nights ago, but last night, when it was supposed to be the most spectacular, we had a really thick cloud cover. However, that gave the effect of the spooking moon through all the clouds, and was very Halloweeny

Oh Piggles I am sorry hunni but I am pleased you are able to make your house smell christmassy anyway. I know christmas cooking smells wonderful. You are right about that, it hadn't occurred to me. When my mother used perfume when I was little I remember her just dabbing a little on because I used to copy her. Nowadays ladies tend to pour it on. I don't, Chanel No 5 is too expensive for one thing lol!! Everything is getting very halloweeny here too but we don't get trick or treaters around here which I miss. I used to love seeing all the kiddies and giving them a treat.

We don't get Trick or Treaters here, either, so we're buying the candy we want to eat We did buy a lighted pumpkin, as our two are deep in storage, and we won't find them for this Halloween. I do love the holiday decorations. I have my lighted, ceramic Christmas tree up all year. I don't think we need a lighted, foam pumpkin up all year, too

No, I really miss them Piggles love. We have a couple of christmas decorations which we leave out all year, just to remind us of our favourite time of the year. They are little christmassy sprays that sit on the top of my Wind in the Willows plates which are on the wall.

I forgot about the decorations we made last year. They're just empty candle holders we filled with different colored balls and sprays, and we threaded those really tiny lights through them. We don't light them during the year, just during the hols. I also have fairy lights up around the front windows, but those are to give me enough light to see my way around the main room without turning on a regular light. Turn on the regular light, and the pigs start wheeking for treats

Haha, Merley doesn't ever wheek and I miss it but I remember a time when we had loads of piggies and everyone wheeked at once for food or a treat, it was deafening lol! I really miss it.
I would like lights around my window at Christmas but it is getting Paul to do anything like that. I know what we do need this year is a new set of tree lights but I think that is all except maybe some table crackers.

I just drape the lights over the curtain rods, so I don't really have to do much. Vic won't help, as he thinks the lights use way too much electricity. Even the generator guy chuckled and said they don't draw more than a dollar or two a year, but next time we discuss it, he'll start in all over again about how we're throwing away money running those lights all the time. We have to get the holiday decorations out of the storage unit in Nashua, so they're here when we're ready for them. Especially since Vic's not sure his work contract is going to end at the end of this year, so I may be setting up everything and taking it all down again. Bwahahahaha, then I can leave the tree up as long as I want I find the decorations and lights really help keep my mood elevated during the dark days around the hols. I think that's why I do a lot of cooking around the hols. It makes me happy.

Ours are on top of the wardrobe with the exception of the tree of course, he is in the loft. He is starting to stir now and asks how long is it before he can come out LOL!! I agree Piggles love, lights make the place feel warm and cosy.

I haven't gotten the daylight bulbs for the overhead lights, but I turned them all on, and it really helped dispel the gloom of the rainy day. I have the daylight bulbs in the table lamps by the plants, so those are helping the plants, and those are also LED lights, so inexpensive to run. The overhead lights are all spotlights, so we need to replace those not only with daylight bulbs, but with LED bulbs. Still, having all of those spotlights on really brightened the great room a lot. Even the guinea girls were more active than they usually are on dark, rainy days.
We're having some really heavy rain, which while we really need all the rain we can get, it taking the leaves off the trees. The meteorologists said this could be the end of the foliage. I hope not, but I did get a few pictures.

Even the guinea girls were more active than they usually are on dark, rainy days. Where I work, we need to replace bulbs in empty apartment units and I try to make sure we are using LED bulbs wherever we can. Sometimes it's just replacing the bulb, other times we install an entirely new design that has LED strips built in, no bulbs necessary! (This is a plus, because the management makes tenants replace bulbs that burn out on their own dime.) Getting back on track, here's another Ohio pic from Hocking Hills:

Bean, I took this using the Creative Control setting in the LUMIX. On the round menu wheel, it's the painters pallet: This is without the effects: I had snow covered trees against a stormy sky, that I was trying to capture. With the effect, I really got the white against the dark grey.

That's a nice effect - I really need to play around more with my camera, I hardly even take any photos at the moment.
