Yes we do Piggles love, you met the Trevithy stone a little while ago and there are other stones up on the Minions which have been there since time began. We have Celtic crosses all over the place here and we have just built around them. There is one on a roundabout before you get to the supermarket and I would love to know what its original surroundings were. No Cogearhead hunny, haven't a clue what you mean LOL!! Yes Bean love, laws are much tighter now for kids, notices in supermarkets too stating that you have to prove you are 18 if there is any doubt.

A few of my friends (late 30s) still get asked for ID now and then, but I'm still waiting to be challenged! (Not that I ever carry age ID so I'd actually be really cheesed off if I did as I'd have to go without my vino!)

I went to college in NY state, where the drinking age was 18. It was 21 in all the surrounding states. I never got carded until I was about 35, lol. Then it's nice to have someone ask for an I.D. I've been to Canada several times, as for us, eastern Canada is closer than D.C. I went to Puerto Rico back in the 60s, when I was in high school. Otherwise, I've stayed in the US. I would like to see some places in the US, and would love to visit Ireland. Not at all sure where my ancestors lived in Ireland, but I've seen so many pictures of places with wonderful scenery. We're still finding many of our ancient monuments, as there seem to have been waves of people through certain places, monuments built, then abandoned when the people moved on. Sort of like Gobekli Tepe, the monuments seem to have meant something for a while, then ceased to be important. Here in NH, we have the American Stonehenge. It's much smaller than the British Stonehenge, but seems to have served the same purposes. There are other stone henges around, all seeming to serve the same purpose, but they are on private land, and not open to the public. There is some debate that the Knights Templar made it to North America, and traveled inland as far as the mid/north west. Vikings, also visited North America long before Columbus made a big splash "discovering" the continent. Lots of possible viking runes have been found around Minnesota and that area. There is a Templar guide to places they are credited with building, though other than the type of architecture and all the locations connecting on some sort of map. One of the sites is near here, and I keep planning to visit, but never get there.

Ha ha, me too Bean love! I find the Knights Templars a fascinating subject, all I really know about them though as they had one of their main Presbyteries here on Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire and that their original vow of poverty ceased to be as it did for so many members of the church then and since.

Amazing - looks like a good workout too! Can you just get on and off where you like and get home easily, or once you've started a longer stretch, do you have to finish at particular set places? We walked along the City Wall in York which was really interesting and made you feel like you were travelling back in time, but it doesn't look a patch on the Great Wall of China! Someday I will have to walk that city wall in York! With the Great Wall, we took a two hour road trip (chartering a car) to a particular section, rode a ski lift to one section, did our walk (about 3 hours) and then took a cable car ride down back to our car. Yes, your legs do get a heck of a workout- the wall does really dip and climb!

My sister had, maybe still has, a virtual trip screen to use when she's on her exercise bike. It would be great to cycle the Great Wall of China, even if only virtually. That's about as close as I'm going to get to the actual wall Jo, can you post a phonetic pronunciation of "Zouch." I've got the Ashby-de-la part The Templars are a great example of power and money corrupting, though despite having collected an incredible amount of money, all I've been able to find are stories other people told about the Templars corruption, but nothing factual. Many were burned at the stake at the order of the Pope at the time, allegedly to cleans them of all their sins. Sorry, but that's way too Spanish Inquisition for me. It seems more like a way to stop the competition the Templars might have been to the pope, since popes pretty much bought their popeships back then. There are rumors the Templars brought the Holy Grail to North America, and it's buried out in the mid/north west somewhere. Again, no proof. But if they had it, and were supposed to give it to the pope as a gift, and they didn't, it could explain burning so many of them at the stake!

Here's a couple more from other times... This was taken in 2009 at Yellowstone National Park: And this one was taken in 2007- that's me standing over the Ohio River in southern Illinois! (That cliff was very high, it is NOT touching the water at all!)

Who took the pictures? They have a good eye That would be me... or rather, the tripod I set up and ran off to get in the shot. Unfortunately, my wife is terrible at taking photos of me. These are two pictures of me she took when we were in Yellowstone: Rather hard to tell I'm in them, isn't it? If these were regular photos you'd get back from the developers in the old 4x5 format, they'd be useless in proving I was in them.

Haha! Your wife's photos definitely give an alternate focus to the shot - to you or the scenery! So is your wife usually standing there watching bemused as you set up your camera and then pezzle off to go and look calmly and thoughtfully into the distance? Even better!

Lol, my husband takes pictures the same way. I have to keep on him constantly, when our granddaughter is visiting, to make her the biggest thing in the picture. Otherwise, we got great pictures of our driveway, with a dot of her riding her bike He's getting better. I was taught to take photos for newspapers, so I tend to do that, with the subject being the most noticeable thing in the photo. Not as good about taking sunsets, and pictures without a focal point. We have a nice camera, and I've been thinking about getting a tripod to go with it. My hands aren't as steady as they used to be.

Usually my wife is off wrangling my daughter, so that gives me time to execute my master plan! Actually, here's one she got right- another gem from Shanghai!

Wow! What is that behind you? I'm not entirely certain, but as it was in a temple, I would guess it's a religious ornament. We were in the middle of Shanghai when we happened across a temple, and went inside for a spell. Getting back to the US, this is me at Split Rock Light House in Minnesota (you've seen that sky in another thread.)

Another gorgeous one, and more proof it's hard to tell the big lakes from the oceans Now we get away from all that water- here's what the eastern border of Utah looks like! No water. All desert!
