Finally aL has a lovely new C&C cage for the pigs that would be most affected by the heat. It's not as hot as I thought it would be, and the young bucks outside are playing and jumping like normal so I don't think it's too bad. I just wanted to test out the new cage! It's great! Yummy greenery for the girls to settle in with... The corner hide-away box I made, and a hammock I tried to make lol...nobody has used it yet! Lucy enjoying greenery... Phobble enjoying the hay... Lucy kept looking at me as though I was up to something... so I gave her a cuddle and she stopped being so suspicious lol. But here is the look... And Phobble gobbling lol And this is what I found when I came back from a 20 minute sit with the other pigs! Lucy...where art thou? lol then I realised she'd stolen Phobble's spot and Phobble wanted to get in! A nice birds eye view - guess where Phobble is lol

It looks great aL - I bet the pigs absolutely loved it, all that space! I like the colours of your cubes - much better than the black/ yellow/ red combo we get here!

Oh they had a ball! And the other girls spent the day in the outdoor run nibbling on whats left of the grass hehe!
Phobbs and Luce spent the night inside too and I packed up the cage this morning as we have visitors tonight. I may have to think about leaving Lucy or Phobbs as well because Lucy is getting old and I don't want to mess her about taking her down to Marlo...but I don't want anything to happen to her whilst I'm gone...and Phobble might be pregnant (its looking like she's not - phew! But I still would like to protect her) so yeah...decisions decisions!

Is it pretty hot over there yet, in terms of making travelling more stressful?
It's great news that it's looking as if Phoebe might not be pregnant - fingers crossed.
What's that under Lucy's eyes in the pictures btw, or is it just someting that came up on the camera?

Travelling should be fine - our car is very new and aircon makes life so much easier for the piggies when travelling. I'm thinking I might take Lucy and Phoebe...it just means I'll have to take extra precautions...maybe build a C&C cage in a cool house somewhere (we have three to choose from)
That white goo under Lucy's eyes comes out when she has recently cleaned herself. I have no idea what it is...but the other pigs clean it off so it might taste nice heh

Maybe you can use some human eye wash to clean Lucy's eyes periodically? I use Bausch and Lomb's Eye Wash (spelling?) for my pigs for Allie's eye sometimes. It just cleans it out and clears up the eye ... until it happens again. Maybe Lucy's got stuff from the bedding in it and it's irriatating her eye or something? Anyway, just a thought.

Looks great! Is the tunnel a big hit?
Oh I see, that's what it is on her eyes - all my pigs clean it up straight afterwards, so it never lingers around.

Oh the tunnel is Yoshe's absolute favourite thing ever! My brother wanted to see what they'd do if he put one end fight up on the side of the cage so there was only one entrance open. Yoshe went in and even though she could get out, so decided to stay put for a good half hour!
Do your pigs clean their own eye goo themselves? Lucy is the only one of mine that gets it, and usually it's gone within about 15 minutes.

Do your pigs clean their own eye goo themselves? Lucy is the only one of mine that gets it, and usually it's gone within about 15 minutes. All pigs do - they produce it when they groom but usually clean it away by themselves before you really see it. It's like their own personal windscreen washing fluid! Here's a picture of Teefy - caught him before he'd wiped it away www.treenspigs.com/care/eyes/eyemilk.jpg - most people notice it if they need to bathe their pigs, as they usually groom after being bathed.

I only tend to notice it with my Jasmine, she can be on the lazy side bless her, so thats probably why I see the milky fluid more. You explained that great Treen

Awww doesn't Teef have eyes like Gimpie! They have the same colout ticking too!
I see...so Lucy may need some help cleaning it off if the other pigs don't do it. It comes out when she washes herself and she just leaves it there. I clean it off sometimes, I must try to do it more often.

Just a damp cotton wool pad should do it.
I've noticed that when my pigs have been a bit under the weather, they don't get so good at cleaning it away (grooming in general is something that goes by the wayside if they're not 100%).

Hmm...she can't be sick - she's had it for as long as I can remember. I'll clean it for her anyways.
