Well girlies, just wondering if you know any guys who are into piggys... (Other than Peter Gurney !!!). We never have any guys (other than hubbys) on the Squeaky pigs forum.... and not seen many on here...and Adam is not remotely interested in anything small and furry... so I am thinking... is our lovely little hobby/ obssession confined to the female of the species or do you know blokes who are into pigs? Anyone got a pro-piggy (not just tolerant) other half?

Nnfortunately my husband HATES little furry "ratty" things. He will not even look at my pretty piggies, but he does pay LOTs of money on their behalf so I can't complain too much! As I said in another post, he was raised to think all pets are VERBOTEN and it's taken me YEARS to get him to warm up to the cats, yet alone the pigs. There aren't many men at the stables either.. I think men are conditioned to be "dog people" only- anything else is sissy to them.

[glow=lime,2,300]Well im not married but my boyfriend LOVES pigs! He is the one who talked me into keeping my girl. He actually has 7 now i believe. 5 girls and 2 neutered boys! He loves animals as much as me! Im actually lucky to have a boyfriend who is okay with all my pets. You know when teens always talk about marriage and having kids together? We talk about marriage and having pigs together! When we get older if we are still together we want to start a cavy rescue and have huge herds of them!! all boys neutered of course![/glow]

My hubby tolerates my pets- made me swear not to get any more, though. He was raised with cats and dogs- loves dogs and cats- and the rest he could take or leave. He has his cat- Booger- and he spoiles her and then has the nerve to complain that she wants to be in his lap all the time or that she has to sleep on him all the time. He also has a pet rat- Ditto. I bought him Ditto. It was actually a strategic move on my part- I saw poor Ditto in the feeder bin at the petstore- and he was the sweetest and funniest guy- and I wasn't supposed to be buying any more pets BUT hubby had not quite gotten used to our older rats- doesn't like them climbing on him- so I thought this friendly little guy- nails still soft like all baby rats- would be a greatway to break him into loving rats. It actually worked. Now, DItto is as spoiled as Booger. Hubby actually scrambled them both an egg today to share. Didn't offer to scramble any for the other 3 cats, 2 dogs, 4 rats, 13 mice or 13 hamsters! Those aren't his- so he didn't even think of them! Of course, I don't guess the piggies wanted scrambled egg- but he could have offered...

My Dad loves my little furries. When he asks me about them he says 'and how are the children?' lol. He comes and has a hold, and every now and then tells me who his favourite piggie is (It was Lucy but now it's Hillary)..
Brother on the other hand goes through fazes. One minute he'll take Hillary out and say she is the coolest, and the next he'll say they're all silly pets... you can never win..

My husband likes my piggies, I even catch him talking to them sometimes. When I do, he quickly says well they starting begging as I was passing lol . He still calls Clover a 'him' though, poor Clover will get a complex lol. Its funny when I ask him to hold one of my piggies, he looks so awkward, I keep telling him they won't bite, but he has a worried look on his face. He's not keen on any small animal with a tail, just as well piggies don't have a visible one.

LOL !!!!! He loves the hamsters and gerbils and talks to them but he won`t handle them as he is worried one of them jumps down a Jack Russell throat !! ....He adores the rats !!!!! He really likes them alot and drove me all the way down to London to collect my last two boys from rescue ( 300 miles+) Bless him !!!!!.....And girls....I got my lunch too !!!!! hahahahaha !!!

We had a SMALL breakthrough today...I was holding Milano and he said : "She IS really pitiful, isn't she?". First time he's even acknowledged her existence or that she is ill. But like I said , he does pay her vet bills so....

Steve has the same reaction. Piccy drops his in my hand when he's playing on the bad- and I usually drop them in a cup on the bedside table- and I hear that every time- 'remind me not to drink out of a blue cup' and 'i hope you wash your hands' and 'you're making me sick' of course when piccy had a problem with hair tangled around his peepee- Steve did the detangling while I held the squirmy Piccy- AND there never is a time Stvee comes past us to the kitchen that he doesn't say 'hey, pig' or 'hiya, chunk' or some other such veiled endearment.

My dad and brothers know who most of the piggies are, which is quite an achivement seeing as there's 18 of them and most are grey and fuzzy My dad loves my bunny Harvey though! He's always playing with him and talking to him lol

aLix, thanks for asking about Milano. The vet says she's doing well and that it's not "her time" yet. But with her two strokes, blindness, heart problems and allergies (and I think she has a COLD too right now) she looks pretty pitiful. But she still eats and drinks well and indeed, squeals for her dinner, plays and everything else normal. I just can't stand her gasping breath: it upsets me.

Guess it is mixed then... which I'm pleased about as I though they all were non-piggy. Very few are enthusiastic enough to frequent forums like this though I guess. Have put stickers on my cages to help Adam with names! There are only 5 but he's a bloke!!! Actually the stickers were originally for my Mum who took care of my piggys while I was away. But Adam wanted them to stay!

That's soooo funny Jennawing! Milano poops in my hand too. By the time I'm done holding her my hand is full-grosses John out badly! I'll have to try the cup method! Bordeaux NEVER does anything- she's such a little lady - and tries to "tell" me she needs to wee or poop. If I don't listen...well!

I don't have a hubby, single gal lol.
But, my part time carer (I'm a wheelchair user) adores piggys, she has some herself and shes just excited as me that I'm getting some.
She has already begged me to let her be primary carer for them whenever I go away! And I know she will do a wonderful job, so that puts my mind at rest.

I'm getting 2 clover, don't want to keep one on its own and I think more than 2 at first would be too many.
I have bought some pen fences to fence off all the dangerous places in my lounge so they can have lots of floor time too and I have a huge cage being delivered soon. I have had to rearrange my furniture to accomodate them! lol
