I love balloons and have always wanted a ride in one. I am so glad you enjoyed some of "Joe's Apartment" 3piggles love, I thought it was brilliant. The bit at the end where the little loves help Joe to find love, is great. I will look out for "Cars" and would love to see "Turbo."
Hugs

Really enjoyed the first Despicable Me, and hope to see 2 when it comes out on DVD. I love the minions! I also love hot air balloons. There is an annual festival in one town, and there is a wonderful hill where we could see all the balloons. It was a terrible driving hill at the best of times, and with cars lined up all along it to watch the balloons, it was even worse. Better to just join the crowd and watch, than try to get anywhere!

I really want to see The Worlds End, with Simon Pegg. We laughed so hard through Shaun of the Dead, and this one looks just as funny. We went to the cinema this week and were hoping to see it but it appears to have finished its run pretty quickly - perhaps it didn't do too well? Will definitely look out for it when it's on DVD. We saw The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy instead which was pretty funny - very silly and the language was rather colourful! I saw the Alan Partridge film last week and that was great - definitely one of the more successful tv series to feature film transitions!

I just saw the promo for Heat, today. The promo for End of the World is still on TV, so it must be in our theaters. Our TV cable provider has a movie section where we can buy movies for $4.99 to 7.99, and watch them any time we want. That works well for me, and I can stay home where I'm comfy. Don't have to pay for popcorn or a drink! I'll look for Heat, too!

We use 'love film', it's only £6.99 per month and we can send for any films or stream them in our home. Like you Piggles, it much cheaper than cinema, sweets are ridiculously priced but sometimes though its worth seeing certain films on the 'big' screen to appreciate the effects. X

We get that too - we see loads of films and series we like (that aren't on the standard freeview UK channels) so it works out pretty well. Have you looked in to Netflix at all? That one's all online so you don't have to wait for films to be posted. I'm not sure they get all the new movies quite so quickly as Lovefilm do, but they do have the final season of Breaking Bad so I might have to try the month's free trial of Netflix and see what it's like!
I do like to go to the cinema occasionally too, but agree about the silly cost of going these days. The Vue chain have Supersaver Tuesdays - if you sign up for it, they give you a card so you only pay about £5 a seat for any showing on a Tuesday (for up to 8 tickets I think) which saves you quite a bit as evening showings are about £8.50 now. We used to do Orange Wednesdays (which is BOGOF) but neither of us are with Orange anymore and the queues for tickets are terrible. I always take my own drinks and snacks too haha!

Damn spell check, meant to say have great weekend not greasy, so hope you've not all been eating greasy food now. Been looking at somewhere to take the brownies(girl guiding, not a piggie!) this winter. I noticed that Cinderella is on in Perth theatre so think I'll book that. They have money in their account and because it is a charity we should not really have money sitting unused......jings that's a novelty these days......money needing used! It'll be fun and we can have food and games in the hall before we go.xxxx

Oh I chuckled at greasy weekend, but then forgot it by the time I came to write my reply!
Cinderella sounds good, bet the girls will enjoy it! Nice to have money left over for extra treats.
I'm having a peaceful afternoon here and have just watched 'The Angel's Share' after your recommendation, Margaret - I enjoyed it! I did nearly gag when his rancid housemate drank the contents of the jug on the table, and I also think I might have squealed when the bottles smashed... but other than that, I was well behaved!

Here in the US, Netflix has a monthly membership fee, but I think that may be the only fee. We pay a per movie charge, but it's usually $4.99. Some premium movies are a bit more. If we wait long enough, they are free. It's a service through the cable provider, and also include whole seasons of TV show episodes, etc. Most of those are free.

We have a monthly membership fee too hun for Sky TV but we have pay-per-view where you have to pay I think it is £5 to view a premium film. It used to be £5 but we haven;t seen oen in a long time and like everyting else, it has probably gone up in price.

We have pay per view, too, but they are usually premium sports or porn channels. Sold out fights, specialty races, etc., or hard core. We have several levels of movies. We can buy them when they are first released, wait until they get older and get them for free. About the time they go free, they also go on one of the movie channels we have to buy (Showtime, HBO, etc.) After a movie makes the rounds of those channels, they show up on the commercial channels. Incredibly hard not to see any movie I ever wanted to see, yet somehow I manage?

Thanks to my sister relieving us of our children we managed another cinema trip - Elysium this time. It's set in the future where the super wealthy abandon earth for a man-made space station leaving all the hoi palloi on a ruined earth. It was watchable enough but not the greatest of that sort of film by a long way. Plus Jodie Foster, who I usually love, gave quite a stilted performance and gawd knows where she was going with her accent... Sharlto Copley was a great villian though - can't remember having seen him in anything before.

Oooh dear, hope I don't affect the box office takings too much!
Has anyone seen 'The Invention of Lying' with Ricky Gervais? We watched it the other night (recorded from tv a while back) and it was pretty funny - it's based in a world where no one does (or can) tell a lie, until one man comes along.... It got pretty average reviews, but we liked it - it just shows you can never tell until you see something!

I went to a matinee showing of Purple Rain back in the 80s, as hubby wasn't interested in seeing Prince. It was okay, but I remember daughter going to see 8 Mile, and telling us all about how wonderful this gangsta rapper really was, considering the horrible childhood he'd had. I thought the Beatle movies were fun, but haven't really enjoyed a boy band movie since. Must be getting old
