Hi all!!! In addition to my guinea pig Brownie I also have a sweet lab mix named Mocha and two adorable cats. One of which is special needs. I have quite a large furry family but now we are adding one more! Unexpectedly this handsome man showed up on our porch. I have kept him for two weeks trying to find his owner but no one has come forward so I have decided to keep him. <3 Attachment Deleted

He is gorgeous He was probably dumped, and he's better off for it. He's got a great forever home, now, and he certainly didn't have one before!

You're amazing!! Most people probably wouldn't keep the dog themselves, but I'm just happy he now has a new home :-)

Aww he's lovely! He looks like a healthy chap too. Was he not microchipped? They're such a good idea - and it'll be compulsory for all dogs to have them over here as of next year.
Someone in Scotland recently found a cat and the microchip showed it was registered to a family in Spain. I think everyone was wondering how it could have made it over on its own until they found out it belonged to a British family who had recently moved back to the UK (after living in Spain for a few years), but they hadn't got round to updating the microchip info yet!

That's the only problem with microchipping. Owners have to keep the information current. Some just don't bother. Others want anonymity when they dump the pet someplace. We've had some cases in the US where the owners were reached, and never bothered to collect the pet

Sadly it isn't required here in the US for pets to be microchipped. I am a vet tech at an animal hospital and I see pets that are found all the time come in and there is no chip Most aren't lucky to find forever homes with the people that rescue them. There are also a fair amount of pets who are chipped and we contact the owners but they never reply back. This handsome man was named "Rocky" and we went ahead and neutered him and got all his vaccines and heartworm test done He has a clean bill of health and will be introduced to the family at home this weekend! He really is the sweetest boy and is a big cuddle bug <3

He sounds adorable and glad his story has a happy ending - onto the next chapter of his life where he will be appreciated and loved! Let us know how the introductions go at the weekend.
