Hello! I am new to Wheekers, but I've read a lot on it so I decided to join! My guinea pig is Crowley! Named after the Supernatural character! I got him for free at College through a mutual friend! I go to Texas A&M University and am studying pre-veterinary science! Here's a picture of him! Attachment DeletedHope y'all like him!

Hello and welcome Crowley is gorgeous, and hopefully not as evil as his namesake! He needs unlimited hay and water, some pellets to add a bit of vitamin and crunch to his diet, and a bit of fresh veggies and fruit, though few. Don't cover his cage. He needs to get used to his new habitat, sights, smells and sounds. When he is, he'll come out to visit and play in his cage. A pal should also help him get up the courage to be out in the open when you are around. They are prey animals, at the bottom of the food chain. It's natural for them to hide until they know they are safe. Your cage is okay for one pig, but when you get Crowley a pal, add some space, if you can. If you have limited floor space, get low benches, stools, boxes they can jump up on, and create a loft or two. So far, so good. Enjoy Crowley

Thank you so much for the help!! I'm trying to make more tubeish things since petsmart doesn't make them for guinea pigs! He won't be getting a pal until August since I go back to college then! So hopefully he will get more relaxed before then! I pick him up a lot and just chill with him, and he's gotten better about it!
But thank you so much for the cover/no cover advice! I was scared I did something wrong!! And it was disheartening to me!

Hey everyone!! Look he's out of his house! I got him some new stuff and found out he loves apples and zucchini!! I also got him some "crazy pants" They're for cats, but they are huge crinkle pants and Crowley loves to sit and walk around and hear the crinkle! They're huge so they can hold more piggies! Just a thought for everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Glad he is starting to venture out more and is enjoying his new toys!
I've never had a pig that liked courgette (what we call zuccini) - amazing! No one else besides me in my family likes them much either, but I still grow them every year regardless!

Cute piggie. Crowley's coloring reminds me of my Weasley. I've attached a picture for you to see what I mean.

They're going good! I recently had a moth infestation in my room so I had to move him out of it! But he's actually coming out of his cage and he LOVES watermelon and apple and zucchini! He's doing well (and is happy from what I can see)

Sorry to hear about the moth infestation, but that is fantastic news about him coming out of his cage. It always brings such happiness to my heart and a smile to my face when they do that. Not sure how much fruit he's eating...something to be cautious of since they contain lots of sugar. A site that I have found extremely informative about what foods they can eat. For example, I did a quick search I did a quick search on watermelon and found this. The thing I love about this site it gives a lot of information about food in relation to guinea pigs and not just a list of dos and don'ts. Hope it helps. I haven't tried feeding watermelon to my boys, but every couple of weeks I get a small apple from a produce stand and feed it to them over a few days. They go nuts over it. I also know that fruit is a fantastic training food when you are trying to get them to do tricks.
