...As well as having Boris n Biscuit I am also Mum to three gorgeous cats... ...( oh...n two boys too... ) ... ...Houdini n Smudge are sisters from the same litter.... ...they came to live with us when they were around six weeks old n have now reached the grand age of fifteen years... ...they are both doing really well for their years, apart from a little arthritis that a Nutraquin+ capsule every other day keeps under control... ...Minnie was rescued from a home where she n her fellow siblings were being ill treated... ...The family were going to drown them so men working in their house took them n found safe homes for them all... ...Minnie was the last of the litter , n my ex sent me a picture of her asking if we would have her as she looks so much like our older cat Houdini , well you know me I am a soft touch when it comes to small furry bundles of cuteness... ...She was soo tiny, only around four weeks old , we took her straight to our vet who armed with me with kitten milk n lots of good advice... ...I wouldn't let my boys name her at first as she was so tiny I was worried she wouldn't survive... ...But as you can see five years on n she is giving her sisters a run for their money n is easiestly the cheekiest of the bunch... ...Here they are from top to bottom... ...Smudge... ...Minnie... ...Houdini... ...x...

Beautiful cats. I'm not sure if I have ever seen coloring or that before.
Did Houdini get her name because she liked to escapee?

...Yes...she did... ...She climbed out the box my ex was bringing her home in as a kitten n hid in his work van for twenty-four hours... ...He n a friend even took the dashboard off to try n find her hiding place but couldn't... ...Thankfully the second evening we found she had climbed into a box of rags to sleep n brought her inside...
...We call her Dini for short...

Gorgeous kitties! Si really wants a cat but I am allergic to them and not sure it would have any fur left after my patterdale would have finished with it!
I love their colourings xx

A friend helped us redo a bathroom in our first house. He was allergic to cats, and no matter what we did, the cat managed to not only get loose, but find him and sit right beside it. There must be something in the scent of people who are allergic, that attracts the cats, lol If you got one, I'm sure it would decide you were the most wonderful person on earth, and spend all its time with you

They are adorable and thank you love for giving them a home, I am the same, I couldn't turn anything away that needed looking after.
They are a ltitle bit like tortoise-shells but not quite, they are certainly beautiful and have unusual markings.

I'm allergic to cats and a magnet to cats. It is like they sense my allergies!

I do wonder what attracts them?

I get on well with little kitties, I suppose it is because they sense how much I love them.

In my book group we have a few members with cat allergies and if it's hosted at someone's house who has cats, the cats *always* gravitate towards the people with allergies - it's really quite odd!
Your cats are beautiful, darkniteangel - and matching too, nice touch!

That is true Bean love, they also seem to know when people are afraid of them.

Interesting that your brothers cats don't bother him, but yours do? I would have thought dander was dander, but maybe not.

My friend has a supertoxic cat who sets everyone's allergies off terribly - people who normally just get a bit of sneezing are gasping for their inhalers within minutes. Don't know what it is - she doesn't look any different to other cats! She's very lovely and sociable so makes the most of her potential for reactions!

I googled it. So much for being allergic to dander, whatever that is. The allergy is caused by a protein called Fel d 1 that is found in cat saliva and skin/sebacious glands. So as the cat licks itself, it spreads the protein allergen. According an 'ask a vet' site, the amount of protein created and spread depends on the cat, not the breed, size, food or anything else. Definitely backs being more allergic to some cats than to others.
That said, it seems as if bathing the cat so it didn't wash itself might help control the amount of Fel d 1 that comes in contact with the humans. Never had any luck washing cats, and don't know how we'd know what was too much washing for their hair/skin, what wasn't enough, etc.

This is just a guess but I think it may depend on certain types of fur ad to how allergies come about.

I have different allergic reactions to different cats. Some cats I have no problem at all with. Others, I'm okay as long as I wash my hands after touching them. Others, I get a little congested with. Others, I get heavily congested with. One cat caused such a reaction that one of my eyes swelled shut and the other one was headed that way. I ended up having to leave my friend's house and never going back.
