I was giving them some vegetables and I noticed this on my guinea pig, pepper. Any idea what this is ? Should I go to the vet?? I have another guinea pig. Both are girls, could they be fighting? Every time I see them they seem to get along. There's obviously a dominant one but she has never hurt pepper...

Hi and welcome to Wheekers. Sorry one of your pigs has a problem. That doesn't look like a fight injury to me - it looks like there's some local irritation in that area of skin which has cased her to scratch/ bite at it. The main causes of dry, scabby skin patches are mites and fungal infections. Both would need treatment from a vet so I'd definitely bob her along and get it checked out. What's the rest of her skin like and have the others got any similar patches anywhere on them? In the meantime, I'd probably run a little edible oil onto that patch of skin - something like olive oil or coconut oil as it looks quite dry. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Welcome to our happy family love and I am so sorry your little piggy has such a nasty infection. I agree with Bean, do take her to the vet and please keep us posted. I hate things like this they make me feel all itchy when I think of what the piggy must be feeling.
Hugs JO xe
