This sounds stupid but oh well. Do female piggies get periods? And what is the best way to take care of them when they are on their period. Thanks everyone I’m just really curious about this.

Actually it's not a stupid question at all. I had the same question/discussion when I adopted my first pair.
So, females experience seasons, every roughly 2 weeks, when they are fertile and babies can happen. They can be loud, moody and smelly during that time, but they don't bleed like we do if a pregnancy did not happen.

I don't think there's such thing as a stupid question - we all had to learn everything at some point!
I can definitely tell when my females are in season - they rumble around a lot more, and are far more receptive to male attention! The reproductive cycle certainly doesn't seem to be such a nuisance for them as it can be for humans, that's for sure!

I think out of domestic pets sweetie, it is only cats and dogs who have periods. I may be wrong of course but I remember my mother calling it "Coming into season."
Hugs jo xx

We all had the same questions when we first started as guinea pig parents, so ask away
