Baby Herbie and Felix both love the theme music from Shaft...yes, the Samuel L. Jackson movie lol.
Herbie keeps purring every time it plays 🥴.
And Felix likes Bruce Springsteen but not Cher lol

Can't help but wonder what parts of music appeal to them 😀

I would gather that guinea pigs can appreciate Springsteen; why wouldn't they like someone from a blue-collar background?
And Shaft? Come on, what guinea pig doesn't like Isaac Hayes?
But Cher? That's more of a cat thing.

Omg I wish I could post a video...I made Felix a suspended hammock he can climb on to easily, and he started rolling and flopping all over it hahaha.
He did this for about 3 minutes nonstop until I tried to record him, lol.

Yeah, my guys are always interesting until I pull out the video camera... at which point they stop cold and look at me as if to remark, "Yes, we'll stop here for now."

I had a pig who sat on my left shoulder, and flopped in all directions, never falling off(thought I did have to catch him a few times), talking the whole time, lol They are characters, and if you really want to get pictures, set up piggy cam. We bought a cheap cam for the backyard, no go, it needs light, but we might set it up to record the activities in Pigloo City

Totally agree lol.
I laugh so hard at the crazy stuff my guinea pigs do lol.
I put Herbie and Felix together for a playdate yesterday and Herbie popped all over the pen and was so happy. I have never ever seen him act like this before...it went on for a really long time lol.
Herbie was so tiny 2 weeks ago...now he's almost as big as Felix... I'm a bit shocked seeing them together because the growth spurts seem huge. 2 weeks ago Herbie was half the size of Felix and I was scared Felix was going to hurt him because he kept trying to ...umm...well, hump him. Herbie was all bones, he was so skinny. Felix also kept pulling off Herbies medical sweater...so I separated them so Herbie can heal.
It was wonderful to see them totally freak out happy to see each other.

As we all know apple is a delicious fruit with lots of minerals and vitamins in it. Doctors recommend to eat this fruit for healthy and disease free life. But is apple healthy for guinea pigs too?

Guineapigfood-Hello and welcome Apples have a lot of natural sugar, and compared to some other fruits, not a lot of nutrients, but yes, they are safe for pigs in small doses. Think of them is candy, something you wouldn't eat very often, but is nice for a special treat once in a while Apple peels are high in fiber, as well as having some vitamin C, so in small amounts, they are also a good treat. Gremlin40-They do grow up, don't they I'm sure watching Felix popcorn all over the cage was heartwarming I'm glad Herbie is doing well enough to be able to spend some time with Felix Now that the larvae are hatching, do you have to constantly replace the bedding to make sure the mites are out of the cage?

I use newspaper and steer clear of any wood products always... I learned this from my first guinea pigs. The wood holds mold and fungus spores, especially in humid climates - the climate if BC lower mainland is classified as semi-tropical. It's very humid here. Not good if avoiding ringworm and respiratory issues.
I cut up some terrycloth towels for their bedding and replace the bedding frequently for Felix...he's the only one of my 2 piggies that likes bedding. He uses it like a pillow though, sleeping halfway on newspaper.
Herbie likes sprawling out on the newspaper lol...no matter how much I tried he does not like bedding.
When I clean the cage I sprinkle the diatomectus earth onto the newspaper and rub it around into the paper...if the larvae or adults fall off they will die quickly on the newspaper.
I love wood furniture but am seriously considering changing to metal furniture and leather for the hypoallergenic benefits for both me and my guinea pigs, and am trying to relocate to a carpet free apartment. I like area rugs...hate carpets. Carpets are disgusting. I guess the varnished wood furniture is ok...but not the raw wood so much. Black mould is a serious problem in humid environments for people and animals...and raw wood and carpets are absolutely horrific for holding in mould allergens and the warm moisture they need to multiply and flourish.
I've seen untreated wood grain start turning black green... I stay away from giving my guinea pigs anything wood.
I use Uber bedding...it's cardboard puffs or something ...my guinea pigs love it but it's expensive so I get it for them as a treat. I sprinkle the diatomectus earth into the bedding sometimes but find it isn't necessary mostly because of my guinea pigs - when I powder up Felix and Herbie, they shake their for and a fine cloud goes into the air...it coats everything in a really fine dust after a few days lol
Not kidding... I have to dust my furniture more often but it's totally ok...because diatomectus earth kills mould, fungus, spores, bacteria, parasites with and without exoskeleton...etc.
The extra dusting may seem inconvenient at first...but the long range health benefits of a pathogen and allergen free environment...priceless.
As it turns out...working so hard to protect my guinea pigs is also protecting me. Nice. 👌👍😀
