Good work Baz, bet you're glad it's done with all those setbacks!
I have several friends who have put their houses in amazing order since all this started. All those little jobs ticked off the list and everything redecorated and looking shiny. I've done a few overdue jobs and am glad to have them sorted, but have concluded the reason I don't have show home house or garden, isn't related to time, it's just not a massive priority for me! I don't really put any pressure on myself over these things anyway, but I think this experience will get rid of that little voice telling me I should have cracked on with one thing or another as I now know that even with loads of extra time, I still wouldn't have bothered!
Hmmm good luck with the next clothes line, 3piggles! I bet you're not feeling very hopeful?!

Good work Baz, bet you're glad it's done with all those setbacks! Even better- I woke up this morning and decided to caulk the tub anyway... thinking about it, I realized I was not in the mood to put it off next weekend. Besides, it only took about 90 minutes, and most of it was removing the old caulk from the tub. Ever since I started to use a mud knife (or drywall blade, whatever you like to call them) the work goes faster than trying to use a razor.
I didn't even bother to say anything to my wife. No one's going to shower until tonight when it's okay to use anyway, and I dislike calling attention to this sort of thing.

That sounds so much like most of our projects, Baz. Of course, once we finished a project fraught with problems, This Old House explained all about how to do it π€¦ββοΈ
Glad it's all done, and the tub is caulked. Great jobπ Not only can you pat yourself on the back for some jobs well done, but you learned something in the process.
I don't want a show house, although I love some of them. We don't live that way. I can't afford someone to clean my house, etc., so I'd rather have a house the two of us can manage.
Since it's still a new house, we're still trying to get the lawn established, and figure out our landscaping, and indoors we're trying to eliminate and rearrange things to better use the space. Ongoing stuff, though eventually the yard will be done, and just need maintenance.

Go Baz!
Our accomplishment this weekend was having a garden fire to get rid of a load of wood from trees we'd lowered some time ago (but not burnt as there were restrictions on fires due to air quality concerns). I do love a good fire! Ad the side of the house is looking much tidier now.

I've been rearranging things, have freed up one, on most of another set of shelves. Once we get those out, we'll have more space, and much neater space.
We're also getting more seeds planted, and disposing of plants that didn't survive the winter.

I was a little premature in announcing victory, unfortunately. I purchased regular caulk instead of quick-drying, and when my wife used the shower it had only been 10 hours later- some of my work became undone. I redid it again this morning and said that if things come apart again today, I'll get quick-drying caulk. The mistake was mine.

Ah that's a pain but doesn't sound like to took too much extra work to put it right. I don't have to re-do the entire tub, just three long lines stretching across the length & width of it. All the other areas dried without issue. I'll get it done a little later in the week.

We would, and probably have, done the same thing. I hope you don't have to do it again.

We would, and probably have, done the same thing. I hope you don't have to do it again. I forgot that SILICONE is the type of caulk to use; it can be water-ready within 30 minutes. Not latex, and not acrylic. It usually says on the label anyway, but I did not look closely enough. I bought a new tube today, and will knock this out probably Friday before I start work.

Shifting gears to discuss weather, I'd love to get the guys out for grazing now. Today would have been perfect, except that my daughter woke up early and went out already, and I need her help to wrangle the pigs. I could ask my wife, except she ran out to do errands as well. The rest of the week is supposed to rain.
Once I get Stilgar acclimated to being outside occasionally, I can probably do it without assistance. But it's nice to have an extra hand in case things go awry... as they did last year!

Which part of it is it that you could use tightening up? Something that could be improved by using a carrier to get them from A to B?
Our newbies were initially a little fidgety being carried outside, but sense what's coming now, so you just have to make sure you don't give them the opportunity to leap after they have seen the grass, but before they have been lowered to the ground!
Ours will hopefully be going out later. It's been too windy for them for the last few days. Mind you, it's been so long since we had rain, the grass growth is minimal! They'll still enjoy it though. Hope you get a day that's nice enough for grazing soon.

Don't have enough lawn to attempt grazing. Maybe next year. Glad you got them out to graze, Baz. I got some lettuce and Marigolds planted in the tower planter, and hubby is planting the veggie plants we bought. I still have planting space in the tower planter, but haven't decided what to plant, yet. The heat arrives tomorrow through Saturday, with some hazy, hot and humid days, I'll be getting out early in the morning, if at all. A/c will be on. The fans seem to be helping, a lot, so I'm hoping I don't have to cool is cold as usual. Our first real test of the new ceiling fan.

Hope you get a day that's nice enough for grazing soon. Getting them to the lawn is easy enough; I actually carry the cages out, because I don't want them to get too fidgety in my hands while I traverse two rooms and a flight of stairs to get to the yard. It was the worry that Stilgar might escape again, or they might do battle once they see each other.
Vicki handled Murphy in and out, and I wrangled Stilgar. He was confused and didn't move once I deposited him on the grass- he was completely mystified! I prodded him once, and then he moved to his pigloo (I had a feeling something familiar would comfort him, so I made sure it was there.)
I also put towels over their cages, so they would be in the shade the whole time. Once they had to return, their homes would still be comfortable.
Speaking of comfortable, our house is 84 degrees. Sleeping is not easy; I turn on my ceiling fan, but it makes enough of a racket to keep me up. I'm going to see if I can convince my wife that we should turn the AC on.

A/c is on, but I have it set at 73F, and the inside is right at 73. For me, that's hot, but the fans are really helping. Temps are supposed to exceed 90 tomorrow, so I expect it to come on. If it's cool overnight, I open all the windows, leave the ceiling fans on, and close the windows in the morning, once the temp starts to climb. I close the blinds/drapes on the back of the house, as that gets the morning sun, then close them on the front of the house by noon, when the sun gets over there. It probably cools the interior a few degrees. I did make fried rice this morning, didn't heat the place enough to start the a/c, and really love having an induction cooktop. It definitely reduces the heat that goes into the room. I also cooked potatoes in the microwave. I love not having to boil them. Every bit helps keep it cooling here. 84! Baz, I would do sleeping in the bathtub full of waterπ² I hope you get to turn on the a/c. All digits crossed! Quick pic of the garden. The heat this week should really get everything off to a good start.

A bit hot here, too. The picture is the weather station in the garden. It's a bit cooler on the other thermometers. I posted because of humidity, which is really low, so it doesn't feel as bad as it could. Yes, 84 is not a good sleeping temp, especially if it's really humidity. Fans just seem to move the hot air around. I hope you got some a/c to help π We didn't have the tomatoes planted. They're in the green planters in the front. Hubby got them planted yesterday. The potatoes, which will go in the green planters with legs, we'll buy once the heat abates. Hubby wants the car locked up like Fort Knox, which means the inside turns into an oven while we're shopping. I won't shop under that conditio. π

We have our AC on, thankfully- I even convinced my wife that 77 degrees was necessary! Sleeping is just fine, now!
It was getting bad when I noticed that some of the foil-wrapped snacks my wife bought for my daughter were starting to wilt in a bowl sitting out!
I'd like it a little colder (maybe 75 or even 74) but this is pleasant enough, I'll take it.

Wow, wilting snacks is a total give away π² Glad your wife agreed to start the a/c! Got out to bike early this morning, and the foxes were playing in the pit. You have to make each picture full size to see them. Took these with my phone, as it was all I had. Went back for the camera, but they were gone when I got back to take the pictures. The pups are so cute, and these are very healthy π€
