I just posted in the February chat thread and it made me realise March began today, the start of meteorological spring which is a cheering thought!

Hehe, that's not what March looks like around here This is usually a very unsettled month, sort of like growing pains going from full winter to early spring. We can have temps in the 70s, and below 0, all in the same week. Weather-wise, living in New England is rarely boring

I think I started too soon with my seedlings. Even being right by the French doors and getting plenty of sunlight, I think I'd need growing lights to give them the light they need, so they're rather leggy specimens! I'm not splashing out on extra equipment but I have spare seed so can always resow if they don't develop well enough - everything germinated in under a week, so much quicker than it does when I do them in the outdoor greenhouse later in the year.

I've found leggy seedlings hard to keep alive once planted outside. Especially if they get really tall and leggy. They need support we really can't give them, in the garden.
We have all the grow lights, but no extra space for seedlings to germinate. Every inch is taken up with potted plants that will go back out for the summer, if we can find a place for them. I definitely want to grow micro greens again. They were so great in salads, and the piggies loved them.

Glad you like it, I wasn't sure about the flowers on the guinea pigs - I like the rest of it though!

We're still quite a way from real spring, the kind you can see and feel, not the one that shows on the calendar, but I love the banner

Lovely banner! Spring here feels like arriving. Yesterday i say the first snowdrops. We definitely get more sunshine, even though the temperatures are still low (we had this morning, at 7:30 AM, -4c outside) and also the sun is finally rising earlier. The days grow pretty fast. Only three weeks ago it was still pitch black at 7 AM, now the sun is already up at that time.

When I started getting up at 6 a.m. to feed the birds and squirrels, it was dark out until after I finished doing all the feeders. Now, it's light out when I get up, and the birds and squirrels are waiting for me when I get out there, lol -4C has been our high temp for the day, with most mornings around -25C. We have a few warm days coming. It will probably feel like summer to us Definitely won't need all the layers of clothing for a few a days, which will be really nice Enjoy the longer days and warmer weather

Oh, i see the difference in temperature. During the day, when the sun is up and the coastal wind is not blowing like crazy, we get up to +8C. It looks lovely outside, such a pity that i am sooo extremely busy and can't take even a moment to enjoy the sun. I am lucky if i have to work at my desk, or in the upstairs lab. If i am in the basement or in the cell lab i don't even see the outside. Over the weekend I am so drained that as much as the sunny weather is tempting me, i prefer to sleep the whole day. I can barely drag myself to the store (800 m away) and prepare some food for the next week.

I see you're still grafting away, Amber! I hope it's going well, even if you have little time for anything else right now. Have you planned another trip to visit your husband and the pigs?

Ah, yes, indeed. I will be having a short 10-days trip to Austria around Easter, flying away on the 29th and returning on the 6th. Due to the entry rules in Denmark, i will have to stay in quarantine for at least 4 days after arrival, being able to come back to the lab only on 12th.
This trip back home is the big reason why i am in a huge stress at the moment, having to finish also what i was supposed to do in the first week after Easter. In addition, for the whole month of march i am left with 0, out of 3 available supervisors. The only one that was in the office went on paternity leave, so I am left alone, trying to get help from whoever has time .

It's hard to understand the university leaving you with no supervisor I wish you had more help. I think you would feel a great deal less stress I'm glad you get to go home for 10 days, though, and the quarantine after gives you some time to collect your thoughts, and make plans for when you can get back to the lab. I hope you have a great trip home.

I'm sorry you've been left without a supervisor - that's pretty poor planning and I'm not surprised it's adding to your stress levels.
It sounds like you will need that trip home to relax for a few days, even if the pressure getting work done so that you can go is causing much of the stress!
Hope you are managing to look after yourself with some decent food and good sleep - keep yourself as healthy as possible to get through this hectic time.

Our weather is nice for now- temps have been in the high 60's during the day, but this weekend they'll drop back into the 40's, and then snow is predicted for Monday. It's still March, so I'm not worried about accumulation at this point.

That snow reaches us as about a 45% chance of snow/rain on Tuesday or Wednesday, and again on Friday. I doubt it will hamper travel, at least not in our part of the state. Up on the Canadian border, there might be more snow.

Up on the Canadian border, there might be more snow. I was talking to my co-workers about the upcoming snow, and over here they seem to think it won't last long, if it even sticks. Let's hope they're right. We're still in March, so anything could happen.

We need the precipitation, so if nothing else, I hope we get some decent rain this Spring and summer. Water bans are such a pain, especially since some people just ignore them, getting the park owners to clamp down on everyone. I can do without slippery driving, though

Agreed about the precipitation; I tell people that with the snow, we get to have a nice green Spring when it all melts.

We had during the weekend a mixture of snow and rain and blue sky (for like 10 min daily), now it's a fine rain coming down.
Yeah, not having my supervisors here was a big bummer, but half of my alone time is already gone. It wasn't that bad, since i already knew what i need to do and i had weekly online meetings with my supervisors. Also, two other people in the office (a PhD student and a post-doc) took over and answered my questions and guided me.
The time at home for Easter will be used for writing, since so far I had almost no time to also write on the thesis. I am mostly in the lab, and during the weekends, when i should be writing, I am absolutely crushed and sleeping most of the time.
