Hello guys, yesterday I started giving my guinea pig antibiotics and now she is acting kinda weird, She is not drinking water, she eats but maybe a little more less then before.. She lays, she is not as active but she also gets up from time to time... Is this normal because of the antibiotics that shes taking?

Depending on the antibiotic, it can have the effect of sort of knocking out the poor animal. Baytril is probably the worst. It's called a full or wide-spectrum antibiotic, as it kills all the bacteria, period. All animals have bacteria in their guts that assist with digestion, and it kills all those good bacteria, too. That means your poor piggy may not feel much like doing anything.
Why is she on antibiotics, and which antibiotic is she taking? If you're really concerned with her behavior, talk to the vet. Tell the vet if you can't get her to eat or drink, and tell the vet everything you've tried to get her to eat and drink. Perhaps the level of antibiotic can be changed, or it can be administered with something that will keep it from having such a powerful effect on her. Good luck!

I've talked to the vet (who also prescribed antibiotics) because of what she believes to be lymph nodes. The vet told me to stop with the meds and if the nodes get bigger to call her.. My piggie is by now almost back to her normal behaviours! She is really better now that I stopped giving her meds.

Excellent news about her getting back to her normal self. I hope the lymph nodes don't get enlarged, again! Please keep us posted.
