Great cloud shot. This was a couple of days after the last one - I loved the colours.

I'd love to see the rest of the building with that tower, Baz. Nice!
Great shot, Bean. I think Autumn has some shots that are so beautiful, and totally seasonal.

There is some nice clear sky over there. Vienna is mostly gloomy these days...and when there is some sun getting through i am indoors.

Most of my friends who are from central European countries always say that the UK is much greyer and more dismal than where they're from - that it only tends to be overcast over there when it's actually raining, rather than permanently so like it can be here over the winter months! I guess that being an island, we will get more cloud, but maybe there's a bit of nostalgia clouding their recollections!

I hope the sun breaks through in Vienna It's good for us Some places seem to have a lot of rain and generally overcast skies, but I don't know if the precipitation rates validate that it's that way all the time. I do think islands get more changeable weather, simply being out there by themselves, but it can be pretty changeable where ever different air masses collide with each other. It seems as if some parts of England get a lot more overcast days than other parts, but again, I don't know if that's true.

Vienna is surrounded on three sides by hills. These means that clouds get very often trapped inside this depression. From experience, there is little sun from October until March. It is demoralisind and sometimes is feels like the sky is pressing down...it is hard, especially since i am used to clear blue sky in winter. Bucharest has a lot of sunshine even in winter, we have a bitter cold (literally in romanian we say that it's so cold that the stones are cracking), but at lest i see the sky. Vienna has a much milder weather, a horrible wind, but little sunshine.

Can you buy plant growing lights? I have them in the windows where I keep the plants, but I use them year round to bolster my spirits with sun shine, when there isn't any outside. It can make a huge difference in mood, especially through prolonged low sunshine periods. If the lack of sun really gets to you, give that a try. There are different types. The LED ones don't tend to be as bright, but cost less to use, so you'd probably want a group of them, 2-3. Put them up as high as you can, so it seems like sun shining down.
People who suffer from depression are advised to use light banks, which are basically extremely strong plant grow lights. They have the right spectrum to improve moods. They can be expensive, and are hard to use, as 20 minutes of the light bank has the effect of a few hours of real sun. I find the grow lights allow me to have sun all day, and on bleak days, that's really important.

No, that wouldn't really be possible, unfortunately. Yesterday, we got a short rain. If it wouldn't be already autumn, I would have said that we had a summer rain. We even got a rainbow.

There was a striking sunset when we were driving home at the weekend. Not too bad a photo given it was taken through the side window of a car travelling at 70mph!

I'd love to see the rest of the building with that tower, Baz. Nice! I've been meaning to get around to this, but that's the water tower in Riverside, Illinois.
There's a few small pictures on a website devoted to it:
