Thank you ladies for your lovely replies and I agree £8 is a lot for pstage. The packaging wasn't particularly expensive 3piggles either love so I don;t know what is going on. It barely weighed anything at all and was fairly small, so me thinks someone is getting a bit more profit from the postage. I didn;t question it because they would just say if I didn't like it to go some where else and these have a very good reputation (despite the fact that one leafy died but I suppose that can happen anywhere at anytime) I am glad you like his name Margaret love, I don't know if he is a he of course, I think it maybe a tadge hard to tell LOL!!
Hopefully Bean love he will get his new friend next week. Tuesday is a money day so depending on how far the money stretches, I will be able to pay for him and little Archie will have a friend. I do love watching them Margaret love, but these little chaps don;t move very far, I think the Katydids are a little more active and I just can;t wait to hold one on my hand. I limit Archie's handling at the moment because he is so delicate but when we change his bramble, he has a little walk on me and it is lovely. If you want stick insects love, Exotic Pets is the best place I know and is the only one recommended by Absolutely Crabulous, the Hermit Crab group I supscribe to. Please let me know if you have some. I am getting stick insects to go in with the Katydids because I have it on good authority that they can live together, It won't be for a while yet though and will they will have to be purchased a little at a time.
Thank you so much for all your interest, I really appreciate it.
Love and hugs
JO xx

Jo, I just mailed a $5 toy to a friend in Michigan, for $10.55. That's over twice the cost of the stupid toy! It was a gnome of the local football team, New England Patriots. She said it was about $25 to order it from the team site, and still pay something in shipping, so she saved money!

It is true 3piggles love, postage is ridiculous here too. I love buying from the internet but it always gets me how much they want for postage. Some are crafty, they say postage free and then you notice they charge more for the goods. If the goods are not postage free, in many cases they have been less for the goods but change for postage. I don;t know if I have explained this properly; in short, you are ripped off either way!! I should be getting my second leafy this week.
Hugs

Jo, check the Internet for coupons for the sites where you shop. Often there are discounts of some kind that the sites don't make it easy to find. Also, some sites do free shipping if you buy a certain amount, or free shipping if you have the item shipped to the local store, and pick it up there. I hope this new leafy arrives ready to meet his pal!

It feels so strange to hear you talking about getting leafies shipped!! I have a family hanging around in my yard! I also have some whopping big green grasshoppers too!!!! Though those blighters breed like the clappers and swarm my herbs with their legions of babies! Our soil must be full of worms too! As we have a family of kookaburras and many cockatoos that come to our yard on dusk to pick at the dirt! It's a regular zoo here on the Matheson plantation! hehehe

Ooh, I would love to safely sit inside where the snakies can't get me, and watch the Kookaburras and Cockatoos! Your plantation sounds fabulous!
I have to get my bird feeders filled and hung, so the song birds stay around for the winter. We have some really bushy evergreen bushes, and I hang cages of suet in the bushes, so I generally have quite a crowd to keep me company :)I will also get the peanuts out for the squirrels, away from the bird feeders, so everyone gets something to eat!

Thankyou all my darlings for your lovely posts regarding my leafies.
Archie's little friend arrived this morning and he is lovely. A little smaller than Archie but unfortunately you cannot tell if they are boys or girls until they are fully developed. Apparently the females and bigger and rounder (seems to be often the case doesn't it LOL?)so I will probably have to change their names anyway.
Ha ha Margaret love, yes he is thin at the moment but when be has been in our house for a few days, that is bound to change LOL!! I would love to see the cockatoo photos.
Oh M&TC you are so lucky, I wish all these little loves were in my garden I am having a couple of Katydids snd and they are big crickets. Do you ever handle any of them?
Our bird feedes will be out son too 3piggles love, it is certainly becoming very autumnal here.
Hugs
JO xx

Aw, I hope your leafies are happy together M&TC, I missed your post about your job. I think you are a natural manager. Bosses recognize that.
