I tried to get a picture of hubby snow blowing the snow, that was all blowing back on him. Total whiteout, so hubby got out of having that picture posted, lol We got about 11 inches of snow, so definitely heading in the right direction. 33 inches, then 18 inches, then 13 inches and now 11 inches. Spring must be on the way This is the level of snow outside the family room door. It is high enough that the ground feeder area is protected. It only got a dusting of snow, mostly blown in from other places: Snow even with the gas grill: Looking across the lawn to the neighbors: More snow against the slider and falling into the dining room. Not very well thought out to have the deck at floor level! Windblown snow against the windows way up on the side of the house: Hubby clearing snow off my car: Just finished cleaning off his car: We have blizzard warnings in effect through 7 p.m. tonight, but we aren't getting anything close to the wind speeds the coast, and a lot of the midwestern states have seen. I've also heard the cold/windchill extends as far south as Florida, but I think their temps have only dropped into the 50s F. Basically any coastal area is getting the worst of the storm. Boston has been clobbered, again. The biggest problem is not having any place to put snow removed from any other places. We haven't lost power, though some of my Facebook friends from further south reported flickering lights during the NASCAR race last night. It has been a really snowy 2015.

Blimey, what a lot of snow! Looks like hub had a good workout clearing the car - what state are the roads in near you?

I haven't been out since the storm started on Saturday, and they were already getting slick with just a coating of snow. I'm am really glad we got new tires on hubbys car. He didn't want to, but with the snow blowing around and all over the roads, he needs the best tread possible. Today is Presidents Day, so schools and government agencies are closed. Boston has officially exceeded its highest snowfall ever. I'm really glad I don't live down there!

They do, yes, Jo He's a procrastinator, anyway. I finally decided where he was going to go to get tires, and which ones he would buy. He can be good, if he doesn't have to make the decisions, sometimes The latest storm missed us! Woohoo! It even missed Boston, which is so buried, it won't see spring until August. The Boston metro train system is 100 years old, and showing its age terribly with all this snow. The city had to hire people to shovel snow off the train tracks, as their snow removal equipment couldn't manage the amount of snow they had. It was bitterly cold working out there, so I think those people earned the $30/hour they were paid to shovel off the tracks. The manager quit, saying she wasn't going to deal with a failing old system, and a city that kept giving her a few pennies, and telling her to make it work. She was promised all sorts of support, she took the job. Obviously that never happened. I feel badly for the people, as they have no way to get to and from work or school. We're too rural to have a metro train system

People who live in the country always suffer more because as you say hun, they do not bother to grit the roads and people find themselves stuck.

Glad you - and Boston - missed the latest storm. You've had enough to contend with already! You can't blame that manager for quitting if she had all the expectations on her but none of the support needed. Just hope the company learn a lesson, it's so frustrating when the people setting the bar have no knowledge of the actual processes and challenges involved in making things happen - or don't care.
It's remained pretty mild here - a touch of frost in the morning and some cold winds, but no challenging weather and no difficult driving conditions. Hope you get a thaw soon!

We have indoor/outdoor thermometers in different rooms around the house, and all the outdoor parts are together under a protected cover in a bush. We've had bright sunshine for two days, and the digital has shown snow. I think it's going to need a vacation in the tropics, before it gets snow off its digital brain

Another six inches overnight, and it's warm enough to melt some snow, but still snowing off and on. In the past three days, we've had melting, freezing, snow and melting. Tonight we're headed for the deep freeze, again, so guess what the roads are going to be like!!
The one great thing about all weather is that the plow and sander/salt truck drivers are earning endless overtime. I don't think there is a an owner of a truck with a plow on it, who isn't earning money plowing, and anyone with a shovel of snow blower can probably earn quite a bit offering to clear walks and driveways for busy or elderly people. We're going to get the weather, so someone might was well benefit.
Also, all the roof clearing companies are booked well into next month. Schools and malls are closed because the snow load on the roofs is too much for the structure to handle. We need at least a few days of good melting to get those roofs under control, and that's not in the forecast. I don't know why it's even legal to build buildings with flat roofs, in snow areas.

When we had the bad winter 4 years ago, the weight of the snow on the guttering started pulling it away from the side of the house - so then the thawing snow or rain was no longer directed away from the house but down the walls. We only realised when we started getting a bit of damp inside, but it was easily fixed. You forget about all those problems that pop up when it goes on for a while.
Glad some people are doing well out of it anyway, while making things more pleasant for everyone. Hope your roads aren't too bad today.
Looks like parts of Australia are having some bad stormy weather.

I have friends in Australia and New Zealand, and have been following the cyclone online. We don't get that news in the regular US news reports, and I've managed to miss BBC World News the last couple of days. I would rather have snow than rain. The snow mounts up, yes, but it doesn't saturate anything. It just sits on frozen ground, until the Spring thaw. It also doesn't become flood water, and start taking out homes, roads, etc. I'm hoping my friends are okay, as they haven't been on Facebook to report.

It was two cyclones, so a double whammy It hit Queensland really hard, from what I've seen on BBC World News, and online. I haven't heard about fatalities, but property loss is bad enough. I'm just keeping all digits crossed.

We hung out windows and wacked icicles with a heavy stick. Most of them are down, but the ice dams over the gutters and up the roofs are still there. Can't reach those. Hubby hung out the attic snug windows, and pushed snow off the roof with a broom. We must have been quite a sight It's snowing again, but lightly and windblown. Hubby is food shopping, so he should get home before the roads get bad.

I was going to bake and make more chili, today, but it was so warm, I decided to wait until tomorrow, when we're back in the deep freeze with the wind chills. We got about 3 inches of snow from last nights storm, and I think that melted today The snow amounts are definitely going down
