This is another fictional short of mine, from back in 2001. Although it doesn't say in the credits, I need to say this: NO animals were harmed in the making of this video.

Very good, lots of suspense without any words!
Your disclaimer was rather leading though...!

Your disclaimer was rather leading though...! I normally don't do that, but as this board is full of my fellow animal lovers, I thought it prudent.

Highlights from my Ohio trip! (and yes, that's both Vicki and myself ziplining!)

Great pictures! I hadn't realized there were so many interesting places to visit in Ohio. I loved the way the tree roots grew over that huge boulder. Those were some beautiful sky pictures! It looks as if you all had a great time

Great video - some amazing sights (I love crazy tree roots too, and there were some interesting rock patterns) and the zipwire looks fun (and a bit nervewracking being so high!). Looks like a super time was had by all! Your lovely daughter suddenly looks about 5 years older than she did last time we saw her!

Looks like a super time was had by all! Your lovely daughter suddenly looks about 5 years older than she did last time we saw her! When I did the ziplining in Kentucky, the speed was only about 30-35 miles per hour. The ones in Ohio went as fast as 60 miles per hour! They were also higher, and longer. We were also zipping in the rain, which made going slow impossible. Also on this tour, we had to brake ourselves; in Kentucky they caught you and you didn't have to do anything. It was fun, I just wish it weren't raining. It was safe (they only close down if lightning is present) but it just made for gloomy skies and I'm squinting in every picture. On a side note, we really had to lift our legs and lean back- I was sore the next day and I'm STILL feeling some slight discomfort in the abdominal muscles. This just means I have to find some better workout routines for my stomach. Vicki wants to go ziplining again and my wife will never go, which means it's up to me to set the example!)

Haha! You definitely need a few more sit ups in your weekly routine if your stomach's still aching now! Funny how different activities can isolate muscles you don't use much. After a day on a boat last week, I woke up with a really tight muscle behind the backs of my knees - you're constantly balancing so although I didn't feel like I was doing anything on the day, I'd obviously isolated some underused piece muscle or tendon!
60mph? Cor! And being in charge of stopping yourself too - must have been a thrill!

I think I'd be scared at 30-35 mph. 60 is way too fast for me. I understand wishing the view had been a bit better, but at 60 mph, how much time did you have to enjoy the view? I'm glad Vickie is willing to try things. Maybe you two can do a zip lining workout together

Let me see if I can answer all the questions- I was recovering from a very minor back injury, so my recent workouts were light in nature... so I wasn't in tip-top shape for this sort of thing. Also, as much as I hate to admit it, I'm probably getting a little old for this sort of thing. (I'll be turning 45 soon.) But I'm probably going to keep doing it until I can't; it's too much fun. Stopping on your own is a thrill, but nothing to worry about. They put is through a brief tutorial, so we could practice. Also, the first zipline is short and slow, with each one getting higher, longer and faster until you don't really notice. If I had done the Ohio ziplines before the Kentucky ones, I'd be disappointed with the Kentucky operation! The ziplines in Kentucky were excellent for a beginner, and less to do for the zipliner. (The staff was ready to catch you, and the speed was slower, comparatively speaking.) As fast as it was, you did get a chance to enjoy the scenery- you just had to keep your eyes open for the guy on the end of the line who would signal for you to stop. Also, Vicki and I opted to have GoPro cameras strapped to our helmets to record the experience. The only issue with that is that for a good part of the ride, the camera is only seeing your arms or your pulley system- you have to turn your head or tilt it for the camera to capture the view. (In the highlights reel, you can briefly glimpse Vicki in front of me when the two of us went at the same time.)

I never thought about needing to tip or tilt your head, but it makes sense. Anything at helmet level would have a very limited view. Zipline and do all the things you like, for as long as you can. The time comes when you just can't do those things at all, anymore, and you might as well have enjoyed getting to that point

That looks such fun going through the trees and over water - and the speed too, must be a thrill! My only complaint is that both my arms (and Vicki's) tended to block the view of the GoPro camera, so much of the spectacular view was not captured on video. Also, if I go ziplining anywhere else, this course in Ohio will the be gold standard.

I really thought you were going to drag your butt in the water. There were some great picture from the zip line. I know your arms got in the way of the camera, but you still managed to really show what the scenery was like. Zipping through the trees over that dirt path must have been really cool

I really thought you were going to drag your butt in the water. There were two guides during the tour, one would go first and the second would go last, and on that low-hanging wire the second guide let his hand skim the water, just to show off. If I had known I was so low, I might have tried that. Then again, if I had known I was so low I might have panicked. I did end up a little soaked after that tour. It was raining, after all.

With my luck, I would have tried to skim the water, and managed to end up in the water
