Wow! It really is an impressive place! I'm always amazed at where plants can find to take root. A tree here, a patch of something else there. Very impressive place!

What fantastic scenery Baz love, thank you so much for sharing. I have always wanted a ride in a helli and if I were younger and could afford it, I would love to learn to fly one.

Oooh definitely a top place to have a helicopter ride! (And I'm so relieved that you didn't let those headphones interfere with your hat wearing!)

How cool! The look of your daughter's face is priceless - you can see what a buzz it gives her with that gorgeous beaming smile each time she comes in! (You kind of look like your full enjoyment will be properly acknowledged once the instructors have got your feet safely back onto a solid platform!)
It's great how close it goes to the trees, that must add an extra layer of excitement. I want a go!

Wow Baz love, that looks so much fun, if only I were young and fit. I have always wanted a heli ride Bean love, if I had mega money I always said I would have my own one and learn how to fly him. Paul says they are a damned uncomfortable ride though.

Yes, I admit as fun as it is, I'm probably not feeling the love until I'm finished. These ziplines in particular were pretty intense!
Jo, if it makes you feel better, one of the zipline instructors in Wisconsin mentioned that the oldest zipliner they had was 75! So don't give up yet!
Vicki's a HUGE fan now. I remember a few years back when all she could do were those kiddie ziplines that went about 25 miles an hour and were basically sling-chairs in an indoor course. Now she's moved on to the big leagues!

I recently learned that my martial arts instructor had passed away some months back, and I'm in contact with his widow. She had never seen this 8 minute short film her son and I shot 18 years ago in the training hall, so the guy who created this (my friend Andrew, whose videos I've shared here before) gave me permission to upload this so it can be seen for awhile. (He hasn't had time to go back and remaster it for online viewing, so the picture quality is a little sub-par, but should still entertain.)

Very good! I bet it's nice for your friend's wife to see that, a bit of entertainment at a difficult time.
Why do I find it so funny to see you get hit in the face with a shoe?! Especially the one at 3:22!

Why do I find it so funny to see you get hit in the face with a shoe?! Especially the one at 3:22! Probably because it's absolutely hilarious. If you notice, you'll see that not only do I not get to land a single punch, I also suffer the indignities of getting smacked around even when I'm not even attacking- I get the giggles every time I see myself trying to recover and end up getting kicked/stomped seemingly just for being there. My favorite part is the 5:00 mark, when Andrew uses the Steadicam mount to glide around the fight in a circle while Erik beats the stuffing out of us. He almost didn't put that shot in because he felt it looked too polished. I really pushed for him to include it, because that sort of professionalism is generally not seen in these shoestring-budget short films. Also, we worked hard to do all those shots and it'd be a pity to not see some of the most impressive ones.

I did notice you didn't get any hits in - at first I was kind of willing you to get one, but then I just found it too funny seeing you repeatedly seen off to care! It's all in the facial expressions, a sort of bewilderment at why it keeps happening! Another favourite part was him slapping your leg with the shoe a few times!
I've got over it now, but at first, watching you without your hat on kind of felt like catching you without your trousers on.

(Odd; I posted a reply yesterday but it didn't show up. I think I may have accidentally closed the window. Here it is again.) My only regret is that we originally planned to have three guys walk in and start fighting the instructor; we thought the idea of three guys clomping around, each with only one shoe on would have been a real side-splitter. Unfortunately we couldn't find a third person to commit to the shoot, so two antagonists it ended up being. Would have been marvelous, though.

Great video Baz love, who is the hot blond guy? Hugs JO xx You might have to be more specific, Jo. (Two blond guys in that movie) I know you love long hair, so I'm assuming you mean Christopher (the bearded one) - he's a friend of Erik, my late instructor's son. Actually, if we had shot the movie a year earlier, you would have liked Erik as well, because he had dyed his hair black and grew it out long.

No it isn't him lovey as I cannot stand beards apart from anything else. I was talking about the martial artist who looks very much like a young Julian Sands. Erik sounds a nice piece of totty too, you are right, I most probably would have liked him also (Aren't I a tart LOL?)

Love the video, Baz! My favorite scene was when you put the shoe in front of your face to protect it, and he hit you in the stomach, instead It reminded me of scenes from some Walker, Texas Ranger. First the punk know-it-alls strut in, thinking they're all that and then some. Then the instructor puts you both in your place, without messing his hair Finally the know-it-alls leave in utterly beaten disgrace. It's a formula that worked for Chuck Norris for years I like Eric's hair and beard, but I like beards, as long as they haven't gone off the deep end. Seems as if men are trying to grow the most outrageously scraggly beards, so they look like survivors or that Robinson monster from Duck Dynasty! Those guys just scare me! Too bad you two aren't still making videos, even if just for fun. You definitely brought humor and suspense to them

Too bad you two aren't still making videos, even if just for fun. You definitely brought humor and suspense to them I'm still trying my darndest to finish a short, but we've been at it for about 4 years now and I'm not sure when we'll cross the finish line, if ever. We stopped making shorts because we wanted to make features, but as it takes so long to make a feature we decided to make a few shorts just to keep our skills sharp and just to be doing something. Unfortunately Erik and I had a falling out of sorts when we collaborated on our next short; we co-wrote a story that focused on the Y2K problem (remember that?) - the issue was that we were under a tremendous deadline to finish it, as it would become irrelevant on January 1, 2000. However, Erik met a girl and he became unavailable for shooting to the point where it was embarrassing. He was constantly making excuses and running off with her instead of focusing on our movie. Finally, I stopped calling him (and going to karate class, as I could no longer take orders from him; he had lost my respect) and went full speed ahead without him. I was quite pleased with the end product; we recast Erik's part and everyone pitched in to help beat the deadline. It was a little late to enter it into any festivals, but oh, well...
