Ha ha Piggles love, I was the same when playing tennis and as for golf, the ball would just sit there laughing as he knew there was little chance of my hitting him LOL!! I know what you mean, my co-ordination isn't brilliant either and neither is my balance so I always have to try and make sure everything is out of harm's way. It apparently was my handbag strap which caught the glass last week as I reached over for it. My friend was so kind about it at the time and luckily Paul had gone to the loo, I dread to think what he would have said if it had gone all over him. Thank you for your kind words sweetie; it doesn't help being told I am clumsy all the time.

It might help to point that out to him. A nice reminder, if you will. We don't choose our handicaps. Not all of us are super coordinated. It's not nice for those who are coordinated to pick on those who aren't.

I have tried that Piggles love. Sometimes he just does it for a laugh but there have been times in the past when he has been quite nasty. No, we can't all be super co-ordinated and I really appreciate your support and kind words. Hugs Jo xx

Ha ha, I think maybe you are right love. Feeling a bit achy today and I have my snailies to clean out. Lady came yesterday to collect the ones which aren't ours so now they have plenty of room bless them. Paul is getting stronger every day which is a great relief.

Yes, they are. My hands were the worst, yesterday. The changing weather wreaked havoc with my arthritis. I spent a lot of time soaking them in hot water, which meant washing dishes by hand as I went, just to have an excuse to soak in the hot water. Not bad today, as the weather is full out rain, not at all changeable. When I started the day, yesterday, humidity was 33%, by afternoon it was 70%, and by evening it was 90%. Those are the days that bother me the most. I'm glad you're better today, too. It never seems to fail that the last day for us to possibly get something done, is day when we're not at our best. I used to clean Pigloo City weekly. Now I clean it whenever my body allows, so I can enjoy playing with the girls

I am lucky there Piggles love, at the moment I do not have a problem with my hands, just everywhere else. Soaking them in hot water does sound soothing though, I suppose it is like having a hot bath for the whole of your body. We only have a shower and I must admit I miss a bath sometimes. I think we have to listen to our bodies as you are doing hunni and only do what we think we can comfortably manage. Hugs Jo xx

I'm sorry you get the dodgy tum so much when you're out for meals. Do you think the food might be a bit fattier or richer than you tend to have at home, or you have bigger portions - or does it happen even when you eat the same stuff and amount you'd usually eat?
If so, that would suggest it's the stress/ change of routine that's offending your stomach, and of course there's nothing like having had upset stomachs on previous meals to make you worry - unfortunately our intestines are horribly good at picking up on anxiety. It's no fun for you though, and must put a dampener on your trips out.
If you still get a lot of stomach upsets at home, maybe keeping a food diary would help you find patterns?

I have identified some foods that always give me problems, and I'm having to face that ice cream, one of my favorites, is a major culprit. Since I know I'm lactose intolerant, it was more hiding my head in the sand about the ice cream that let me keep eating it. I will still eat it. I will just eat it much earlier in the day, so the indigestion is gone by the time I go to bed. I do love having some in the evening, but I won't get any sleep if I do. Stress and tension definitely effect our digestion, and after a few bad incidents, it's perfectly natural to get stressed about every outing ending the same way. If that's the case, I hope you find a way to control the stress, so you can have some fun outings

Could you get some lactose-free cream and make your own ice cream? We make one that's half a dozen eggs, separated and both parts whisked up, folded into a big pot of double cream, also whipped up first. We add melted chocolate and bits of flake and maltesers to it before freezing, but my mum's favourite is to add stewed fruit and a bit of icing sugar.
Jo, there are also medications that are anti-spasmodics in the gut - I think mebeverine is one. If you suffer with pain or urgency after you eat, you can take them in advance to lessen the effect. Perhaps something like that would help break the cycle.

You are right Bean love, our tummies do pick up on stress easily and I am sure that is why I get an upset tum when I go out. I am anticipating it and therefore so is my tummy. We were going to go out today but finances won't allow but we are supposed to be going tomorrow instead. It maybe that bigger portions are served when out as we don't have large portions here. Even when I am out though, if I feel full I will leave the rest, not struggle and eat it. You could be right love, a food diary maybe a very good idea.
I know Piggles love, it wuld be so nice to be able to look forward and really enjoy these outings. The place we go to more often than on is only minutes away but we want to try other places so I have to get this right somehow. I will look out for that remedy Bean sweetie, thank you for the suggestion.

Bean, that's one of the reasons I'd like to try making my own. I've tried soy ice cream, and it's grainy, not smooth. I don't know about using other milks or creams. I want to get some recipes. It's something Vic and I talked about doing, but as he continues working, I haven't gotten to it. I have tried the lactose meds, and they didn't help. I've also tried the active cultures to settle my stomach, and nothing has worked. I would go to the doctor, but not only do prescription meds cost an absolute fortune, but they have worse side effects than the problems they're supposed to solve. Anyway, once I get settled in for the winter, I'm hoping to have time to research non-dairy ice cream recipes, and try some of them. I have the ice cream attachment for my stand mixer, which has to be frozen in advance, so it's really cold when the ingredients are added to make the ice cream. That's why Vic wanted to try it. He loves kitchen gadgets

I am finding it hard to find an ice cream I really like these days Piggles love, Hagen Daas and Ben and Gerry's are not my cup of tea at all they are too rich and sickly. I like a white icy ice cream if that makes any sense. There was an ice cream van a few years ago which was always parked up on a beauty spot and the ice cream was gorgeous but that has gone now. I find Walls and Lyons Maid completely tasteless so I may have a go at making my own also.

Have you tried Mackie's Traditional Ice Cream, Jo? That sounds like what you're describing to me. It comes in a blue circular tub. (I don't really like ice cream, but if I do have any it's Ben'n'Jerry's Caramel Chew Chew!)
I think the lactose-free dairy stuff just has the enzyme lactase added to it, which you can buy separately and take at the same time as regular dairy - that sounds like what you've taken 3piggles? But people I know with lactose intolerance seem to get on better with the products where it's already added - perhaps it's something to do with it being exactly the right amount. I've tried the lactose-free milk and cream and couldn't notice a difference taste-wise.

You may be right about taking just the right amount, just as it's probably why the active cultures don't work. I follow the directions, but everything I eat still tries to kill me. Maybe I need to take the active cultures in between meals, just regularly, so they're always available and active. Taking them with the meals doesn't work at all. I drink a lot of ginger ale to get rid of the gas, so the makers are ginger ale should be happy I like Hood ice cream. I don't think you have it in the UK. My mother worked for Sealtest, but their ice cream is very hard, so I have trouble getting it out of the container. Same with Ben and Jerry's, and Hagen daas is the same way. Hood is softer. There are two basic types of ice cream; one made from a custard and cooked. I think that's what you're talking about, Bean. This is a basic recipe: www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/creamy-vanilla-custard-ice-creamThe other is just all of the ingredients mixed together in the ice cream attachment, then put in the freezer: allrecipes.com/recipe/63952/easy-homemade-vanilla-ice-cream/ I have to find out if something needs to be added to get non-dairy to set up or freeze the way dairy does. I think the custard version is more to my liking, and will be softer, but I'd like to try both recipes.

Thank you for those two delicious recipes Piggles love. I adore custard so I know I will enjoy custard ice cream. No we don't have Hood ice cream here unfortunately; here is Cornwall the traditional clotted cream ice cream is very rich and sickly so I am really on the hunt for a one I will like.

I think Mackie's is a Scottish brand, Jo, but we get it down here in Yorkshire and it's at all the big supermarkets. So fingers crossed you should be able to get it down there. We have half a tub in our freezer at the moment - I'd post it down to you to try but it might melt?!
