Hello everyone
Just to let you know why I haven't been on. Paul was taken to hospital a couple of nights ago and they have found fluid on the lung and apparently he has pneumonia. He is stable and apparently happily watching his foot ball. However they have found sclerosis of the liver but only on the outside but it is treatable I did not have a very nice birthday yesterday.
I will keep you all updated.
Lots of love jo

Oh no, sorry to hear that Jo. It sounds like he's been taken good care of and I hope he's well on the mend very soon.
A belated happy birthday to you but I'm sorry you didn't have a nice day with all this going on. Hopefully when Paul is home you can have a little celebration then with your favourite takeaway or something like that.
I expect it's very difficult for you to go in and visit, so I hope that's not making you to fed up and also that you're managing okay on your own.

Thank you ladies. Apparently he has taken a turn for the worse and is now on a ventilator in Intensive Care. I don't know about these things but that doesn't sound good. He has his own nurse too which is worrying. Do we have any nurses on here who could tell me what level of danger he is in please? When I asked his nurse she said "Only God knows that." which wasn't very comforting. I will keep you informed but you can imagine how I feel at the moment.
Hugs JO xx

Happy Belated Birthday. We have to get better at posting the birthdays. I've been so busy with the move, I never even thought to check. So sorry I'm not a nurse, but I think the fluid in the lungs makes it very hard to get enough breath, because the fluid takes up space the air would use. Ventilators forces a specified amount of air into the lungs. Beyond that, I don't know much about it. If you're really concerned, demand some answers. He's your husband, and you have a right to know. It may be all you need to set your concerns aside, and that nurse didn't help with that, at all Ask your questions, and don't stop asking until you get the answers you need. All digits crossed for him to pull through this quickly and completely

Thank you Piggles love but the news is not good. The doctor rang me this afternoon and gave me the low-down. Most of which I knew already but he is critically ill. She said she has seen cases like this where the patient makes a full recovery and those where they don't, so please keep everything crossed for me. You can all just imagine how I feel and I am dreading that phone call from the hospital. He will also be in there for weeks maybe longer if he does make it.
Hugs JO xx

I'm so sorry, Jo I can only imagine how you feel. Waiting for that phone call is like waiting to the ax to fall I will keep everything possible crossed. I'm not going to be on for a few days, but will try to get on eventually to catch up. Lots and lots of hugs

Oh Jo, I'm really sorry to hear this, you must be beyond worried. I'm glad you managed to speak to someone who could give you the right information at the hospital as that nurse sounds awful, but I was really hoping it'd be more encouraging news. I can't imagine how you must be feeling.
I will have absolutely everything crossed that Paul will make a full recovery. He's getting all the help he needs now and I really hope things take a positive turn soon. Don't forget to take care of yourself too.
Please let us know when you hear any news and remember we're all here for you. xxxx

I emailed Jo and am pleased to say that things have improved and that while Paul is still in hospital, he's out of ICU now. Fingers crossed that recovery continues. xx

Hi there, my apologies for joining some time ago and then abandoning you all. You are all a lovely bunch so it wasn't anything that anyone had done I promise, just that I am on another forum and haven't the time for both.
Now the point of my post is I have news on Jo and her hubby Paul. The good news, and this is VERY GOOD NEWS is that Paul is on the mend. Unfortunately Jo herself fell badly and broke her hip, and is currently in hospital too. It's been one bad blow after another for her, but I know you will all be relieved to know that Paul is now getting better, thank goodness.
I will be on here letting you know of progress for both Jo and Paul, until she can update you herself. Not having access to the internet she has been unable to let you know herself. I will check on here regularly and pass on your messages to her.
