That tickled me piggles love, it is a shame sometimes that we cannot lock them in their man caves. That is annoying too. My first husband was over 6'2" and always put things way too high, forgetting (or not as the case may be) that I cannot reach it. The things we do Bean sweetie, to avoid lectures and I am very impressed with your organised memory. I wouldn't know if we had anything like the items you mention or indeed how to find it LOL! Lol, at least you're usually home to get the things. Vic is gone during the day on M-F, yet thinks I'm just going to wait until it's convenient for him. Not I actually have to do things when the old bod lets me Rain and chilly yesterday, overcast and could reach 70 today. Cold in the 30s tomorrow, with rain through midweek, when it turns to snow. Springtime in New England, lol Every time it gets warm, I want to get the gardens started, but know it's going to get cold again. Hubby agreed that planting marrows would be a nice change, so hopefully we can find some plants to plant. Hehehe, locking them in their mancaves. Now that's a thought

I found the window handles within about 30 seconds yesterday, so am feeling quite smug, and like my apparently chaotic system must surely work pretty well despite how it appears?! I'll still improve it when the weather's better though. Apparently we're due a mini-heatwave in a week or so? I'm going to take a trip to a local nursery to pick up a few bedding plants when we have a dry run, get some more colour blooming in my borders as soon as possible!

If I had a decent garden I would like to have a go at growing marrows Piggles love, they are a food I have always enjoyed and it would just be nice to have a go. Yes, I thought locking them in their mancaves would be a good idea sometimes LOL! Yes, Bean sweetie, I have heard news about the heatwave too. Guess who will be bemoaning when she is all hot and bothered LOL? Hugs JO xx

I'm with you on that, Jo. Heatwaves and I do not get along, and I resent having to run the a/c before we're even close to summer! It's bad enough to have to cool the place solidly through July and August, but April is really pushing it! Hehehe, glad your system worked, Bean You do know where everything is, even if no one else could find it Tidying is always a good idea, as you find things you meant to toss, and can get that done. It's a bit early for bedding plants, here, even if we had a heatwave. We will have more cold nights that a lot of bedding plants won't survive. We bought some lettuce, leeks and radishes at the garden store, and I've planted them in the planters in the front hall. They're getting their sunlight from the light bank, so should be really happy. Once it gets warmer, and the leeks are bigger, I will move them outside, if the size and temp work out at the right time. We need to get some seedling flats, so I can germinate the seedlings and get those outside in a while. Going to be cold tomorrow, in the 30s, if we're lucky, so we'll probably get those supplies, then. Vic cleared off the berm in the back yard, today, and it looks a lot better, though there's still a lot to get out of there. He cut out a lot of little suckers from trees, raked up the Fall/Winter mess, and carted all of that off to the pit. The back yard is looking decent, as if Winter hadn't taken too bad a toll.

I had a stint in the garden yesterday, and intended to at least pull out my box of seeds so I could see what I have and what I need to get. But I got distracted and forgot! Today's supposed to be a bit drizzly, but next week looks nice, so I'll do it then. It was so nice yesterday, to be working in the garden with the sun on my back (it wasn't too warm, but very bright) and I'm hoping to get the first mow of the season in soon and get the lawn ready for the pigs to go out when it's a bit warmer.

Heat waves make me feel sick, to be honest, Piggles love and I am constantly under a cold shower. Many people who love the heat think we are crazy which is annoying. If given the choice I would rather be more comfortable in it even if it is a rare occurrence here. I love leeks, I once had them in a restaurant au gratin, they were delicious.
It is a bit drizzly here too Bean love and last night it was raining heavily, I don't mind if I am cozy in bed though, it is nice just listening to it whilst I read my book. I like it when the sun is just warm Bean, sweetie. I remember being ill on holiday in 2001 and I had a rotten shivery cold. That was the one time I loved being out in the heat. I didn't feel hot at all just comforting. That was very strange but very nice too.

I don't think it's due to get above the very low 20s here, although the south have been forecast slightly higher temperatures. That's just about right for me to be toiling in the garden without getting too hot. I haven't got time for gardening today, but am hoping to at least retrieve my seeds from the shed (just typing it here so I feel accountable!).
I think mid 20s weather is perfect - pleasant to be out in, but not too stuffy if you have to be active. I can take higher temperatures on holiday when I have the sea or a nice pool to cool off in!

You are like me Bean sweetie, if I have a pool or are near the sea, I don't mind being hot so much. Also now if I went on holiday abroad I would have to have air con in my chalet. I don't mind the heat so much if I know I can definitely get out of it.

Our heat is usually very humid heat, so we don't perspire easily, and we get sticky. I find it oppressive. If it's dry, I can take quite a bit of heat, but we rarely get that. I didn't mind it when I was a kid, but the chronic pain is aggravated so much by it, I don't enjoy it anymore. I also swell, so have to take off my rings before it gets too bad. I leave them off until Fall.
We used the heated seats in the new car, yesterday, when we went food shopping. Ooh! What a relief, as my back was giving me a lot of problems thanks to the weather. I not only got to keep it warmed on the way to the supermarket, but on the way home, when my back was screaming at me!
The steering wheel is also heated, though hubby said he had to turn it off after a while, as it got too warm for him. Great for warming hands after having to clear snow/ice off the car in the winter time.
The remote starter, which we were discussing in another thread, will let us start the car and heater, in the winter, and a/c in the summer, so the car is reasonably warm or cool when we get in. Jo, manual transmission have to be left in neutral with a remote starter, or when you started the car, it would try to go where the gear sends it. Parking brakes aren't always strong enough to keep the car from jumping, if you start it in gear. With the automatic transmission, we have to keep it in Park, or the car won't turn off. It's fine to use the remote starter than, but still need to keep the parking brake set.

I'm quite sure our car doesn't have any of that fancy stuff!
I retrieved my veg seeds from the shed, and think I have plenty to be getting on with. I have some sweet pea seeds too, so will get those going in trays as soon as I have the chance. I'm still going to get some cheap bedding plants though, just to fill the gaps in the borders straight away.

I keep forgetting to mention that, if you put the seeds in a wet paper towel, or any towel, and keep them in a warm place such as a sunny windowsill, they will germinate quickly, far more quickly than if you plant them in potting soil to put out in the garden as seedlings. You could cut quite a bit of time off the their germination time. I'm going to do that with my seeds, also because I want to see how many germinate. Then I know how many I have to plant, and can plan my garden. If I bought 2018 seeds, I know they would germinate, but I'm using the 2017 seeds I froze last Fall, and thawed a week ago. We need to do something about our front garden area. I'm tempted to take it out, and try something totally different. First, it borders the driveway, but is a bit lower, so the garden floods when it rains, and the much washes all over the driveway. Also, we put down all the best soil in that spot, yet nothing is really growing. The plants we planted the first summer should be big by now, yet they haven't changed. We put down landscaping fabric, and I wonder if that's keeping the plants from spreading or naturalizing? I think we need to do some sort of a gully between the driveway and the mulched area, to keep the driveway from getting covered with mulch. I also think that area may be where we want to plant some trees that will help shade the front of the house. We planted a bush, but it also hasn't grown at all? If you'd asked me 20 years ago, I would have totally dismissed all those fancy things. Now, I'm loving having some fancy things, but I'm still willing to sacrifice the cushy ride for something that's fun to drive

It's funny, we do the kitchen towel thing with cress seeds, but don't think of it for anything else! I'll give it a go, thanks as I always find waiting for them to poke their heads through (or not) a bit frustrating!
Did you say you were getting someone into look at your lawn conditions? Maybe they'll be able to advise on something to help your front garden too. It's frustrating when you think you've done things right and things aren't taking off.

I always left my cars in neutral piggles love when I parked them together with the handbrake or all sorts of nasty things can happen. I love cress and remember growing it as a child. It is lovely on egg sandwiches.

Jo, you're actually supposed to put it in a gear that will counter different conditions, such is in first if you're parked up a hill, so it won't roll backward, and reverse if you're parked facing down a hill. Parking brakes have a habit of failing, but it seems as if cars have so many transmission problems, now, it's hard to know what to do. Automatics are supposed to be left in PARK, with the parking brake on. BMWs and some other luxury cars were popping out of park, and rolling, because too many automatic drivers forget to use the hand brake. I think what we're supposed to do is posted in response to every doofus who ever did something really stupid, lol Bean, definitely germinate them early. Our growing season is only about 3 months long, anyway, so if we wait 60+ days for a plant to bear fruit, we might as well not bother. I buy as much in plants, as I can, but if I have to start from seeds, I germinate them in the wet towels. We're moving the plants out of the office for the weekend, so Peanut has enough room for her inflatable mattress. Sort of the first step toward getting all the plants back outside. We replanted some over the winter, and I think they are in really heavy pots, so not sure how we're going to get those outside! Once the hot weather arrives, I keep the blinds and drapes closed to help cool the house, so no keeping plants in the house for the summer!

Haa piggles love, that has tickled me. Yes, we all need our own space. We don't have a garden shed obviously but when we did, I used to go and visit the spiders who lived in there. It seems to be a favourite with them.

Funny you should mention shorts... I've seen some shorts on racks in clothes shops and thought 'Surely they can't cover your bum?' but for the first time yesterday (when suddenly everyone was in shorts) I saw some teenage girls walking about town wearing them and more than half of their bum cheeks were on show! Crumbs! Maybe we should just all have to go naked for a year and get all the flesh flashing over with, so we can go back to some kind having trends that don't make girls (kids) look like sex workers?!
Although I don't really want peoples arses in my face, I can mostly tolerate adults wearing what they want, but when fashions sexualise kids to such an extreme degree, I really do worry...
I called into my local nursery yesterday and the bedding plants won't be out until the middle of May - like many people I get carried away by a bit of sun and jump the gun with when you should do things! Anyway, I found out begonias are the ones I want - the nursery recommended them to me last year as I have a really shady border and they tend to do better than other bedding plants without sun (but I'd subsequently forgotten what they were). They went potty last year and filled the gaps with colour for months, so I'll be having some more of those!

That is a brilliant idea Bean sweetie and I am not a bit surprised to hear about the girls showing off their bums. There is no modesty anymore. I am far from being a prude but I think things have gone too far and it would be great to get it all out of their systems so we could get back to being normal again! I saw a girl of no more than 13 in a t-shirt which said "Sex and chocolate." What sort of a message does that send? You can't beat an array of beautiful flowers in the summer Bean love.

I feel somewhat relieved; I did have "the talk" with my daughter and so far she's weirded out by the whole thing. Subsequently, she still dresses conservatively. As much as I like to see the scantily-clad female form, I prefer them to be of legal age (and closer to 30 and up; really young girls don't interest me the way they used to) A funny little story about when I was in my early 20's: I was with a buddy who had recently lost his virginity and had become hormonally supercharged, staring at every single girl in sight. As we were driving around, he kept pointing out various females walking around in the neighborhood and I had to remind him that they were all underage and not for us to be ogling. When he asked me how I knew, I simply stated the fact that if they were old enough for us, they would be driving instead of walking. I was not wrong in my assumptions.
