My daughter is thankfully still totally unimpressed by people hanging out their body parts too, whether they're her friends or adults. I hope it stays that way for us both, Baz!

Love that rationale, Baz It's true, though. Sad that he was so hormonally charged, he was probably rather obnoxious, and had trouble getting a date. Women may want to have sex, but not be treated as if that's all they're worth. Hahaha, love your assessment, Bean! I've seen it around here in the summer, too. Nice thing about living in a 55 and over community is that none of us is dressing that way. Go to the shops, though, and anything goes! I'm not a prude, either, but it seems as if the slut factor has taken over women's fashion, and it's not doing many women the great service they seem to think it's doing. The skin tight clothes not only show every flaw, but advertise them. The off the shoulder tops with totally not matching bra straps showing does nothing for anyone, nor does the open back top with the back of the bra showing? I saw both at a wedding, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's one thing to wear a bra the same color as the dress, or top, and make it look intentional, but these were not like that Then there are the stretch exercise pants in wild patterns and colors, that should only be worn by a size 0, but come in plus sizes? It's as if womens fashion has derailed Glad your daughter is still conservative, Baz. She may miss out on the stud chase for a few years, but she'll feel better about herself in the long run.

To wear leggings I think you have to be slim or they look pretty awful. I am not much for them anyway, I don't think they are very feminine but that is not important these days it seems.

Yes, leggings aren't too flattering on most people, even if you have a perfectly decent figure! I know what you mean about the contrasting bra straps that are obviously on show, 3piggles, although with that fashion of men wearing their trousers halfway down their bums and showing us their pants, maybe we just need to catch up and join in?! You used to see women having their thongs riding above their trousers a decade or so ago too, but I hardly ever see that now, so don't do that one!
It's the London Marathon today - see you there, Jo?!

I cannot find a bra that fits me at all well Bean sweety, they are all uncomfortable and I have tried everything. I know I need to go to one of this one off bra shops and have a fitting but then you ave got to be prepared to buy a couple of bras which will be very expensive, assuming they have anything that suits. I remember seeing the thongs showing and it didn't look nice. Haha, I am there running Bean hunni, this is my other self sitting at home and typing. hugs JO xx

I remember the thongs showing. Oy! What some women think is good fashion! We don't have much of the undies showing on men anymore, not with their out pants hanging off their butts. I remember to boys trying to pull off that look. Instead, the crotches of their pants were low enough that they were walking and running like penguins Glad to see that trend over, at least over here. Some men still wear the tops of their boxers showing, but I think that may have been the case before the trend started, and they just never changed. It's how they dress. As long as their pants aren't falling off, I don't mind. Temp got up to 76/24C today, and will get hotter next week. I have a lot of the plants outside, as we aren't even getting close to a frost for at least 10 days. Rain for a couple of days, so the plants will get watered. I have my bicycle out, and have been doing once around the neighborhood each day. I don't have my biking legs back, yet. Even riding the exercise bike didn't prepare me for even the slightest uphill grade, so I'm working hard at it. I'll get the muscles toned. Hoping to go out to ride again tonight, before a couple of days of rain, and so hubby can go with me. Seems strange, after months of having every window filled with plants, to have them outside again. The plants picked up a tiny white fly, so they're also coated with cinnamon to kill the flies. Hopefully all the flies will be dead by the time the rain washes off all the cinnamon, or I get to douse them again. Also time to put epsom salts around all the plants, including those that stayed out all winter, and give them a boost to start the season.

There is nothing worse Piggles love than when man's bum is showing because his trousers have slipped down. I haven't seen that much lately either thankfully. I hope you get your biking legs back soon.

Jo, I read that as 'I hope you get your bikini legs back soon' at first, and was wondering what I'd missed?! But yes, I too hope you can get your biking legs back soon, 3piggles!
3piggles, I followed your tip about germinating my seeds on wet kitchen roll rather than in soil - a much less messy way of finding out which seeds work, so thanks for that! I've got some little sprouts now - do I plant them in soil right away or can they wait a few days?

Glad the germination tip worked for you, Bean No bikini legs on this old bird. Never really had bikini legs, lol No biking today with all the rain, but hopefully I'll be able to get out tomorrow. I'll try to do some biking on the exericise bike, instead Nice to have a backup. I can't believe my granddaughter is turning 8 next month. They change so much with every year, I have to figure out what to get an 8 year old. The rain is washing off the cinnamon I put on the plants to kill the tiny white bugs on them, so once the rain stops, and everything dries, I'll know if it did the job. I hope so, as it's so much better to smell cinnamon than to smell the insecticides for plants. Also getting a free car wash from Mother Nature

I can't believe my granddaughter is turning 8 next month. They change so much with every year, I have to figure out what to get an 8 year old. Vicki is already taller than her grandmother, and she's only 12! What's also surprising is that a few months ago we measured her height against my wife, and she was about an inch shorter. Just recently we re-measured and she actually slightly taller than my wife! They DO grow up so fast!

I keep forgetting to mention that, if you put the seeds in a wet paper towel, or any towel, and keep them in a warm place such as a sunny windowsill, they will germinate quickly, far more quickly than if you plant them in potting soil to put out in the garden as seedlings. You could cut quite a bit of time off the their germination time. I'm going to do that with my seeds, also because I want to see how many germinate. Then I know how many I have to plant, and can plan my garden... Putting seeds in the soil can be a pain, so I searched for "towel germination". Seems a popular technique for marijuana seeds. So many links in the results list, haha I've got some spare tomato seeds. Might give it a try to see how it works out.

My son (13) is about to overtake me height-wise - I reached my current height (5'8") by the time I was about 12-13, but judging by the men on both sides of our family, I think he'll get quite a bit taller than me! It's kind of handy being able to borrow some of his clothes now, but his feet have just overtaken mine!
Good luck with your tomato/ marijuana seeds, Shades! I forgot to bring my seed tray in last night, so am hoping the seedlings haven't suffered in the cold.

We used to do that as a project in school, when I was really young. Each spring we'd start some seeds in a wet towel, plant them once they started to sprout, and each get to take home a potted plant. I don't know if that method went out of fashion, or what, but it works, and it greatly speeds up the process. Also, it lets us know which seeds will germinate, and which seeds won't. If I want to plant 10 corn plants, instead of planting seeds and waiting until it's too late to know if they're going to grow, I'll know in a matter of days, before I even plant them. I have the planting tray and medium, for when they're ready to become seedlings, and I'll know exactly how many I'm going to get. Rain has basically stopped. Still cloudy, but the sun did break through for a short time, and is supposed to break through a lot more after noon. Should be a great day to get out and ride my bicycle At our amusement parks, children have to be a certain height to go on the big rides, not the children's rides. Daughter said granddaughter is now tall enough to go on the regular rides, so I think she's 48" tall. I'm not a whole lot taller, at 62, so I figure in another couple of years, she'll be as tall or taller than I am. I stopped growing when I was 10, but my sister grew for a few more years, so she's your height, Bean. Both parents were around that height, too, so I was the only shorty. Hubby, who is 5'10" cannot understand short people problems, such as why I can't see what he sees out of the window over the sink. He gets quite frustrated sometimes, because instead of seeing what he's seeing, I'm seeing the windowsill, lol Watching some programs on early civilizations, we've learned that not all ancient people were short. Early Europeans were short, and those who settled the new world were short, but some people even older, were much taller. That may explain why there are tall and short people, as all of our genes go back a really long time, way past when we knew how tall people were. They also came from all over, as all people were nomads for a long time, so they would have interbred with other groups they met along the way.

I would love to be tall like you Bean hunni although I knew I ever would be. I remember being in at school when we grew some mustard and cress. I was only just 6 but it is amazing the things you remember. The same teacher also tried t rear some tadpoles which I loved but I cannot remember how that turned out.
That is a young age to stop growing Piggles sweetie, I am not sure what age I eventually stopped. Yes, I think many ancient people were short. Even in the 12th century and before people were said to be stouter and shorter. I think some of the armour which have survived prove this.

King Tut was 5'11", so taller than Bean, and taller than my husband, who is 5'10" tall. He was not short, and it seems neither were the other pharaohs. The average Viking was 5'7", while Zulu warriors were 5'6". So not all ancient people were short. Europeans were short, and some Asians were short, but going back 5K+ years, not everyone was short. I think need, food, safety, and a lot of other factors play into how tall humans are, just as how big the dinosaurs were, and how small the Hobbit people and the mini rhinos are. www.seeker.com/health/the-tallest-men-in-the-world-trace-back-to-prehistoric-mammoth-huntersI think it's interesting because genes don't order how we'll be, but how we'll fit into all the other conditions. Which also makes me wonder how dwarfism plays into evolution. We're doing Spring things Hubby is putting dirt on the bare spots in the lawn, finished building the section of paver path he started in the fall, and I'm changing the bedding in Pigloo City, which I can finally blast off with the hose, as the hose is back on the faucet. Haven't been able to blast off the screen since last Fall, before the frosts started. I do wish I had a clothes line, though my back isn't letting me do much right now. Still, I may use the accordion dryer, and put the last few clothes out on the back porch to dry. We bought some daffodils, hyacinths and tulips yesterday, so hopefully we can get those planted soon Yep, it's Spring

My friend has three kids and the middle one is shorter than his younger brother. They went to an amusement park and he was really miffed because he was about half an inch off being able to go on the bigger rides that his younger brother could get on no problem. After a bit of stalking around grumpily, he went off and found some stones to put in his trainers to lift him up a fraction so he could make it on the rides! Probably not the safest of plans, but as they measure people with their shoes on, I'm sure there was a safety margin built in!
I like being taller, especially now shops cater better for people with longer legs than they used to (when I was younger, most trousers I tried on were half mast on me!). I wasn't so keen on it when I was was 12-13 though as I felt far too conspicuous! It was a really strange feeling when we went to Amsterdam a few years ago, where the average height is a higher. I was smaller than most of the local women, and it's just not something I'm used to! No one there was asking me to reach for things on the top shelves at supermarkets!

This is a really interesting subject Piggle slove, I didn't know that Tut was 5'11" and I thought the Zulus were a tall people. That must have been awful for the older kiddie Bean sweetie, things like that matter a lot when you are that age. Haha, that is very clever of him and what is more it worked so I am glad he went home happy. I didn't know that Dutch ladies tended to be tall either but it did seem to me that even when I was younger, many men prefer tall girls. I know I prefer tall men.

Stones are definitely not the safest way to get on an amusement park ride, though based on his situation, that was a really ingenious approach to getting on the rides. There are platform shoes, even for men/boys, that would serve him much better. I used to have a pair with shock absorbers in them to cushion the blow when walking. Those add about 1/2 inch to height, though I wasn't wearing them for that reason. Too bad he didn't have a pair of those I can totally understand how annoying and frustrating it must have been for him to not be able to go on the rides his younger brother could go on. Poor kids He may shoot up, when he gets older, and leave the rest behind. Yes, Jo, I was really surprised when I learned that Tut was pushing 6 feet, not pushing 5 feet. We have a revolutionary war ship in Boston harbor, and the ceilings are so low, and the bunks so short, because most sailors weren't 5' tall. That was only 350 years ago, yet we've grown in all directions so much since then their clothing only fits our children, and not all of them. Today is the last day of April. We are supposed to get May flowers, starting tomorrow, or that little ditty needs to be updated, lol It's raining, although lite rain. Yesterday we had periods of torrential rain. Clearing out later today, in time for summer heat I've took off my rings a couple of weeks ago, when we had temps in the high 70s, so at least they won't be embedded in my fingers. Not looking forward to the hot months, but can't do much about them. The electricians came to install the outlet for the new kitchen stove. One of the guys was wearing enough cologne that I choked every time he walked by me. We had all the windows and doors open to get the perfume smell out of the house, and it was only 42F outside, so I fleeced Pigloo City to keep the girls warm. We were setting up the hydroponic trays, which are just trays, cups, water and nutrients. Nothing fancy. It gets the vases of leeks and green onions off my island, and should treat them a bit better, so that's good. I had to keep going in the bedroom so I could get some fresh air. A perfume allergy is no fun, but it's worse when people assure me they never use perfume, then come into my house stinking! Major cleaning of Pigloo City. The girls got to sit with me for quite a while, which Oodles loved. Noodles was antsy, so hubby brought over their basket, and she went in there. I think she had to go to the bathroom. Oodles apparently isn't concerned with her toilet habits, as she just went on me. They have a new cardboard box, and for now, I'm using one of the cardboard boxes as a loft. I figure they'll sort everything out the way they want it
