Beautiful! HAPPY JUNE, everyone. My Facebook friends will be flooding my newsfeed with Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, or white rabbit, white rabbit white rabbit. I tried to find the origin of that superstition, but a lot of them seem to know about it.

That has been going for hundreds of years Piggles love, it would be nice to know how it started.

I haven't ever seen a definitive answer either, but we can probably all agree it makes no difference to our luck, even if we do think it's fun to say it sometimes! I wonder if it's related in any way to rabbit's paws supposedly being lucky (although not for the rabbit of people have them on a keyring...).
10 housepoints, Shades!

Jo, I did Google it, but all I got was that it only applied to the months that end in "ber." No explanation of why it's rabbit instead of animal, or how white rabbit came about as an option?

I think it is just one of those things that have been lost in time Piggles love. I imagine it to be hundred's of years old.

Well, it look like there'll be a lot of hollering at the tv going on in our house for the next few weeks (World Cup) - football doesn't interest me at all, so I'll be steering clear!
Are the US in it?

As far as I know, the US is in the World Cup. Apparently we're also hosting some of the games in 2026. I so wish the Dumpster could have been president then, because we're sharing the hosting with Mexico and Canada Ooh, that would make him so mad! I will be watching some of it, but mostly having it on in the background, which is how I tend to watch TV, anyway. Last world cup, we did pretty well, considering soccer is relatively new to the US. We have a lot of players on US teams, who come from foreign teams with whom the US teams are affiliated. One of our players on the New England Revolution Soccer team also plays for Colombia. Since so many team members are off playing for their home teams, our games are suspended until after the world cup. I like soccer, but over the years it's gotten harder for my eyes/brain to manage the motion, so while I usually listen to the games, I don't watch them much, anymore.

I lost the will to live when Paul told me the world cup was starting this week Bean sweetie, I to dislike football. In some places, things will just grind to a halt lol!

I checked, and there weren't many matches to watch. Maybe they're on later at night, or on different channels. I'm not looking for them very hard.

Most of them are on the sports channel hunni and of course on the first three terrestrial channels as well. Thankfully, there is always something else to watch.

I've found the matches, but so far, no teams that interest me. Apparently the US is playing against Iran, for the first time in 20 years. Hasn't been a great 20 years for US/Iran relations.

HAPPY FATHERS DAYTo all the Fathers of human and other species children Turned out the Iran/US match was coverage of the one 20 years ago, not a current match, and the US got eliminated, so we're not in the World Cup. Oh well. No need to watch any matches, then The heat has arrived. A/c came on after 3:30 p.m. yesterday, and by 10:30 a.m. this morning. It's nice in the house, but HOT outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be the worst day, with temps around or above 100F, high humidity, and lots of haze. What we call the 3 Hs, hazy, hot and humid. Then it starts to cool down a bit, into the high 80s. Staying in the mid to high 80s for at least the next 10 days, so we'll be paying the electric company to stay cool! It's that time again, when the funky sand comes to Hampton Beach, and sculptors make it into incredible things. "Temptation" won this year. This is a gallery of that and sculptures from years past: www.google.com/search?q=hampton+nh+sand+sculpture+2018+photos&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjekNzJutvbAhXizVkKHc11D14QsAQIOw&biw=929&bih=493Enjoy

Oh sorry you didn't make it through! It sounds like you might manage to get over it?!
Oh yes, hope all the fathers had a good day yesterday!
My husband got breakfast in bed from the kids yesterday - croissants and a cup of tea. They also made him cards and a cake, and my son wrote him an odd but very entertaining story too.
We had a family barbecue and gave my dad some beers and chocolates, so I think/ hope the fathers in the family felt appreciated!
Hope you can avoid getting too warm. It's still pretty cool here, although we're getting glimmers of the sunshine we were treated to last month!

Haha Piggles love, you are right there. I think some kiddies do come from another planet. I am sorry you are in the middle of a heatwave. When I think of how hot it was this time last week and what it is like now, you wouldn't believe the difference. It is grey and windy and I much prefer it. Love the sculptures, I like to see them in a garden. They look very expensive though.
That is so sweet, breakfast in bed courtesy of the kiddies. I hope he enjoyed it Bean sweetie. It sounds as if the dads had a great day hunni, no doubt the kiddies will help him with the chocolates lol! I thank God it isn't hot here as it was this time last week.

My daughter was never one to do anything on her own, that required her actually doing something, so no breakfast in bed for either of us. She was fine was us paying for all of us to go out to dinner or lunch, but not if she had to put any effort into it. Still, she was usually excited about it, and wished us a happy whatever day She was supposed to get or make her dad a gift or card, but never did. Some kids just aren't that way. Hubby had a nice Father's Day, anyway, and got a text from her wishing him a Happy Father's Day So far the heat has been less than expected. It should be topping soon, too, and hasn't gotten anywhere near what was forecasted. Depending on which weather station I use, it's either 86 or 90F, with high humidity that feels about 10 degrees hotter. A breaze has come up, though, so I think the cold front is on it's way. We could have severe thunderstorms, and there is a tornado watch, but by midday tomorrow, it should be a bit cooler, and a whole lot dryer. The a/c has run almost constantly since about 9:30 a.m. I have the fans on, so I can set the a/c temp higher, but I'm still only good at about 70F I know it will only get hotter, as this is just a hot spell, but not a heat wave. We will get some before the summer is finished with us. I did 2 miles on my exercise bike this noon, so I'm getting my exercise I'm starting to manage to focus on what's on TV, so I don't get bored cycling for 2 miles. I'm getting there

I've always tried to remember to do something for things like mothers' day or fathers' day that doesn't involve me giving money to the people trying to commercialise sentiment! It's a good excuse to get together really. But I don't really set any stock by it, so if my kids end up not being bothered to note the day, that's fine. Just because you don't jump up like a clockwork toy and robotically do something special at a set time, it certainly doesn't mean you don't care, and I don't like it when people see it that way.
It was our wedding anniversary recently and my husband knows not to buy me flowers for it - I like flowers, but getting them on your anniversary or Valentine's day is somehow far less meaningful. It's not that he's spontaneously chosen to do it, it's just programming, so I'd sooner skip it!
Sounds like you're in for some weather! Glad you're still getting your exercise anyway.
