I'm not so bothered about the idiots who know they're in the wrong place, it's just that the cyclists who should be protected.
I walked up a hill for 10 minutes with two heavy bags of shopping this afternoon - that was enough for me, I don't know how they do those mountain climbs!
I know what you're saying about Lance Armstrong and the where there's smoke, there's fire' feeling. But I do wish people would leave it to the proper authorities to investigate and not act differently toward athletes because of it, until it's proven, or at least they have personal experience of that athlete to make them suspicious.
Mind you, Chris Froome has never been well liked, even before when he was doing really well for our country and not under any suspicion. As far as I can tell, he just gets on with it and is well-mannered. Some people think it's because of his upbringing (fairly privileged white chap growing up in Kenya) but it all gets rather unpleasant. He had urine thrown at him one year?
Glad you got a bike in, 3piggles!
Have you had any rain Jo? We've had a bit this afternoon, I want it to keep up and resurrect the lawn!

That's sad about how Chris Froome is treated, but bigotry and classism are alive and well in the western world I haven't seen much from the USA as far as placing in the stages, but the leaderboard passes so quickly, I barely have time to sort out a name and it's moved on to the next person. Sometimes I just check on the country, if I can catch that before it moves on! I noticed police in a few places along the way today, during stage 13. I'm not sure why even organizers can't have people in event uniforms keeping spectators back in the worst of it. Then again, if they're going to let the cars take half the road to get through, why not let spectators do the same thing? I really think the Tour de France could be organized a whole lot better, have the back up cars take different routes, or go at different times, or maybe have stations along the route, instead of keeping everything in one vehicle that's running along with the riders. I think caution tape could be strung in the worst places, so the spectators had to stay behind that. On long straight stretches, it's probably not as important as it is on curves where the riders can't see what's ahead. If nothing else, temporary paint could be used to make where the spectators can't go. Nothing is done, really, and that seems to be the case in every type of race I've watched in Europe. The NASCAR race is here in New Hampshire this weekend, two races, two different classes. 100% chance of rain forecast for Sunday, when the main race is scheduled. Tomorrow, for the lesser race, should be great. Monday, which is when they ran races rained out on Sunday, is 60% chance of rain. They might manage half the race, but that's all they have to manage to get it in the books. Otherwise, it goes on the end of the schedule, which would bring them back to New Hampshire around the end of November, when it's really cold for these southern boys The race was schedule for September, 2001, and was cancelled because of 9/11. It was held at the end of November here in NH, and it snowed, lol The drivers and crew members were on the track making snow angles, having snowball fights. They were like kids It was great, and the track was cleared in time for the race

We have only had a little, Bean sweetie and we could do with a lot more if I am honest. Sorry ladies, cycling is not a sport I like at all but Paul watches the Tour de France sometimes.

I'm not as interested in the cycling as I am in the scenery, but I have to admire those cyclists. I never could do that, even when I was at my peak! They are really finely tuned athletes, and it shows in the fact they can even manage to bike up some of those mountains! France is a lovely place, so getting to see all the really French places, as well as how many places could be here, is interesting. I tend to watch parts of it, as I rarely sit to watch TV for very long at a time.

Oh no, what a shame (and how could we forget that photo?!). And how sad about the family dog too.
Now you have some making up to do, for making me visit the Daily Mail website!
3piggles, when the Tour de France came to Yorkshire, I especially enjoyed seeing the countryside just round the corner from us - it's great to be reminded what's on our doorstep (although it's all brown now...)! But I know what you mean about admiring the views, although what I see on the highlights is enough for me!

Wow! So sad they lost a family dog because of the fire. It's definitely an interesting site. I hope they rebuild, and get their artifacts fixed! I don't watch the whole stage unless I really need to sit. Usually I watch a few minutes here and there. Even if I have it on the TV, I'm working around the house, so glance at it periodically. When they were going through the French Alps, the scenery was just stunning! I watched more of that for the views I find it interesting that same places are quintessentially French, while other places could be here, Germany, almost anywhere. I guess usefulness and cost drive design as much over there as anywhere.

We had some storms last night, and are due more today. Yesterday's were short sharp thunder showers, in between blazing sun, so it was ridiculously humid. But I think they're actually due to clear the air properly today, and may persist for long enough to resurrect all our lawns!

We have to wait until Sunday to get any proper air, and maybe into Monday, but by Tuesday the humidity is back. I opened the back door this morning, and the air reminded me of when we lived on the ocean. It was always sort of damp, simply because there was so much water around all the time. It was a saturated smell. I sprayed my bundt pan with spray oil, and got back inside as quickly as possible. Now we have thunder storms moving in, though they aren't supposed to get to us for another couple of hours. I should probably get hubby outside grilling hamburgers, before it's to wild out there to do anything

Sorry ladies wasn't well yesterday. We have had rain here all day but no storms yet. I wish we could have one, it would clear the air. The annoying thing is that we are due for another heatwave very shortly.

Sorry you weren't well last week Jo, I hope you're feeling better now.
We had lots of rain in the early hours of Saturday, although it was still boiling on Friday night. After the sharp showers, it was really humid too, so I ended up going to bed with one of the ice packs for the freezer box as it felt hotter than ever!
Yesterday was dry and quite sunny here, although there were high winds. Elsewhere have had loads of rain. It's one of the big weekends for getting away now all the schools have broken up and there was lots of travel chaos with flights being cancelled due to storms, floods closing roads and there were queues of hours for the Eurotunnel because the air conditioning broke down. Not a great start to the holidays for many.
The idea of driving over to France never really appeals to me anyway (a lot of our friends do it as they go camping so need to take all their gear) but hearing about people queuing in the cars for 6 hours puts me off even more!
We've had more rain overnight and the lawn is already starting to perk up.

Thank you sweetie and I must admit to feeling pretty dreadful. Guess who is responsible. I will tell you in my natter box.
We had rain on and off all day here love and yesterday we had some powerful downpours. I don't know how people cope with driving abroad, driving here scares the bejeebers out of me:)

Hubby's birthday is Wednesday, so we had his dinner tonight. Steak and salmon on the grill, shrimp cocktail, and our first ears of corn for the year. I made a remoulade of mayo, catsup and lemon zest, and it was great! Hubby loved it The girls got corn husks fresh from the garden. So they weren't left out

I made zucchini banana muffins, so the girls have the zucchini peals. They like them, but I don't think they can eat as many as I have, so I'll chop up some for their dinner Leftover birthday dinner tonight, as we didn't eat all the steak or shrimp. Going to make it lite, as I'm finding that definitely helps my digestion a lot. Have you tried crackers, Jo? Not sure what you call them, but they are good at absorbing excess stomach acid, and usually don't do much harm. Obviously plain crackers, not herbed or spiced, but I found just eating a few crackers when I was feeling sick, tended to put something in my stomach that didn't upset it. I hope you feel better Humidity was still high this morning, so no getting out to bike. Tomorrow the real humidity returns. I think Wednesday is supposed to be awful, 90s with super high humidity. I will stay in the a/c where it's cool
