April is believed to be Aphrodite's month.
Aphrodite is the Greek Goddess of love and beauty. She is also known as Goddess Venus by the Romans.
The word "April" may also have come from the Latin word, Apeire, which means to open -- in connection with the buds that open to bloom.

Aw but you forgot my birthday, Shades - surely that's a highlight?!
We all seemed to have coped pretty well with having an hour pinched at the weekend (clocks going back) - a combination of an early start and a busy day yesterday meant we were all on track by the evening.

Once again, I totally missed this thread. Thanks for the April lesson, Shades Been a pretty good one, so far, though we aren't very far into the month.

Not much happening this month. Yesterday I dragged myself out to the shops for the most expensive sports shoes I've ever bought! They better help me run faster and further or else I'll be in the dog house

Snazzy! I hope they turn you into human lightning. I'm sure the proper cushioning makes a big difference to comfort when running (and therefore recovery), which as we get older, only becomes more important!

Supposed to be an excellent brand. I hope they make running easier for you, even if you don't turn into The Flash Quiet here, too. April is a waiting month. Not warm, not snowing, no planting but no shoveling either.

Just posting just to tell someone- I having an issue with a vendor on Etsy, and it appears the management there really does care about customers!
I ordered a shirt back in February, and was told it would be ready in 3-4 weeks, and would ship no later than March 20th. Normally, a vendor will reach out to me and give me updates, but this one never did. On the 20th of March I sent them a message asking if the shirt was going to be ready- and they replied, saying it was going out that night!
Well, ten days later... no shirt. I sent them a message asking about it, and they replied they would look into the cause for the delay. Another half a week goes by and I see that Etsy has a method of dealing with these sorts of issues, so I opened a case against the vendor and it appears I may be getting a refund! I would rather have the shirt, but now I can go find a competitor and give them the money instead.
I was impressed at how the management really went after the vendor. I mean, they weren't messing around! The vendor might have their account suspended and charged with the balance due. A few days earlier they sent me a message stating that they would send the shirt out if I closed the case, but I refused. In fact, I copied their message and sent it to the management.
If the vendor felt they were put in a difficult situation, it is entirely their fault.

That's rubbish that they lied to you about when it would be ready - if they'd taken longer than expected but kept you informed, that'd be one thing, but making things up to keep you off their back is wrong and I'm glad they've been held to account.
I had a run in with an eBay seller last year who sold me a spare part which simply didn't fit the specified model. When I contacted him, he got really angry saying no one else had had a problem and I was obviously making it up? It was beyond odd. He reluctantly said I could return it for a refund, but when I checked he'd be covering the cost of the return postage given it wasn't as described (the postage would have been almost as much as the item) he refused saying it was the right part and I was making the problem up. I told him I was going to get in touch with eBay as I wasn't happy with the product or his (lack of) resolution. He eventually said he was going to refund me as he 'couldn't be bothered with me anymore' and that I could keep the useless part (like that was some kind of intented bonus)?! That's the first time I've left negative feedback (and quite a few other people did around that time too - maybe he took the business over from someone else?).
Hope you find your shirt, Baz!

Confirmed- got my refund! It may take about 5 days, but that's acceptable. I need time to find another vendor anyway.
I sent them an appreciation e-mail letting them know how much I valued their approach to customer service.
Oh, and the shirt is for Halloween, so there's time! (The total cost for the upcoming costume is a tad steep, so I'm spreading out the spending over the year so it doesn't hurt the wallet so much.)

So am I Can't wait to see the reveal, even if I have to wait for October to see it That is great customer service, and I'm glad you sent them a letter acknowledging that. People are so quick to criticize, and so slow to give kudos when someone does something right.

I am glad you received your money back Baz sweetie. Five days isn't too long either, at least you know it is on its way. I am intrigued also.

Well, I don't want to make anyone wait until October, so I'll drop a few hints:
-I haven't done a Star Wars costume in 40 years, so it's time to do one again.
-My costume won't involve covering my head, so I won't worry about going the whole night tripping over things while wearing a mask. (Whenever I attend a Halloween party, I always remain in full costume for the whole event. I dislike it when people show up in an impressive outfit and then shed 50% of it after 30 minutes, so I set an example by "staying in character". It helps to wear something relatively comfortable; when I wear the Ash from Evil Dead outfit I have to remember not to swing my chainsaw-arm around and hit anyone/anything!)
(Maybe when I get a few more elements of the costume together I''ll post a pic!)

Survived another Easter weekend, with the endless, religious reminders that the Christians are celebrating something. It was also Passover, but that got very little recognition, as usual. I think the best easter greeting of all was a picture of Snoop Dog as the easter bunny, lol

Ha! I hardly felt aware of the religious side of things, we just enjoyed some fun family time in the sunshine. And ate some extra chocolate!
