Yes Treen, get some piggies! You KNOW you want to! Stop living your piggy life through the rest of us and join in for once! lol Oh I don't want to get any more mixed up with you lot than I already am thanks lol. Kids' interpretations of adult conversations can be very interesting, as long as he doesn't decide to report you to the autorities for scheming to snatch the pigs, lol. Too right lol! I've had worse though - the other week, just as I was getting the kids out of the shower, Alex did something mildly unkind to his sister which resulted in me getting distracted and thinking I hadn't turned the shower off, when infact I had. So I actually switched it on again, and when it first comes on, it tends to be slightly hot. So Alex got a bit of a shock for a split second, but nothing remotely approaching a burn. I apologised to him and explained I'd been distracted by him playing up. Anyway the next day I put them in the shower and Alex goes 'And I won't be mean to Aimee because if I am, you'll put hot water on me!' lol. Great Alex, tell that one to social services will you?! Sorry, isn't this a thread about your pigs Beckee - where are the new snaps, I can't fill forever you know!

I apologised to him and explained I'd been distracted by him playing up. Sure, blame the kid Treen....I think it was just your normal slip of the brain! lol Focus Treen Focus!

Sorry, isn't this a thread about your pigs Beckee - where are the new snaps, I can't fill forever you know! Oh whoops! I missed that last story Treen! lol Thanks for keeping the crowds happy while I got round to new snaps anyway! You did a great job! All is well in the Sow's residence! They have been enjoying grass snipped by my own fair hands from the garden and a few lucious dandelion leaves for the last week or so in preparation for a long enough dry spell for them to get outside and cut it themselves! They seem to know what I am doing outside when i am picking them some treats as I get extra loud wheeks and noses pressed against the cage bars on my return to the kitchen! I think Hanny is yet again suffering from an attack of mites so she is off to the vets shortly for *more* injections. Poor soul! She doesn't seem to be in bad spirits though and is still eating and running about. I'm amazed it never gets her down since she seems to suffer with them a couple of times a year at least. Betty is much better in herself now that I have found a cage layout that she can navigate easily and I don't change it too drastically too often. Her eyesight is very poor if any but the only time she acts differently from the others is if I put her in a large run for free range time as she must feel a bit lost not knowing where she can hide or where to go. I tend to put her in any run with her cage mate Wilma and she will follow her around a bit to find where everything is and eventually settles in. Hantaro and Pebbles got 10 minutes out on the lawn today while I cleaned out their cage. It was still a little damp so I didn't leave them out too long and made sure I dried their tummies off when they came back in but they loved it! And definitely made the most of the grazing time! Here are a couple of snaps. I will add some of the other two soon! Hantaro Pebbles

Great pigtures Beckee and YES, it's about time you updated this thread! The grass looks nice and green and I'm sure that Hantaro and Pebbles did not mind the dampness. Glad to hear that Betty is doing so well even though her eyesight is poor. Bless her cottons. Sorry there is yet another mite outbreak for Hanny to endure. I'll be sitting her waiting for the rest of the photo's! *tap tap*

Yeah! At last!!
Glad to see Pebbles and Hantaro are still their beautiful voluptuous selves. Poor Hantaro with those nasty mites again. I've been looking into the Revolution that Val uses (didn't realise at first that it was Stronghold here). My vet has given me a prescription for it and am going to try it on the piggys although have so much on my plate at the moment and not concerned about treating for mites, just as a preventative, that its taken a back burner for now.
Good that Betty is coping so well with her eyesight.
Now - c'mon woman - Betty and Wilma can't be left out.

Poor Hantaro with those nasty mites again. I've been looking into the Revolution that Val uses (didn't realise at first that it was Stronghold here). I was going to suggest using Selamectin (Revolution/Stronghold) for Hantaro mites. Especially since it seems to be recurrent bouts with mites for her. It really works like magic Beckee, and there are no injections. I'm glad Newpig brought it up as I would not dare to tell you what to do with your piggies! You are the pro and my hero....forever and always! lol I still think you should talk to your vet about using it and that way you could just have it on hand and use it at home any time Hantaro needs a bit of spot-on.

I'm glad Newpig brought it up as I would not dare to tell you what to do with your piggies! You are the pro and my hero....forever and always! lol lol Val! I'm not that scary for you to say what you think am I?! lol Actually, I did talk to my vet about preventative spots on's a few visits ago and there was a big discussion in the vets waiting room about it all! lol The one that I'd been using in Spain hadn't been approved (or really heard of) for use on guineas at that time and not enough people had used others on guinea pigs for a long enough time to prove that they did any good for the price they cost. I wasn't prepared at that stage for Hantaro to be the test pig without them looking into things a little more as it is a costly treatment for a possibility. My vet has been trying different strengths of injections and different timings between the doses each time I go back with Hanny. It's difficult to judge what is working best though as her mites always disappear quickly after treatment. I am going to ask this time again about spot ons but also about oral ivermectin which Jackie mentioned to me I think. If it is possible for me to get a larger amount of it and treat her myself at home then that will cut down costs and also the stress of her having to travel back and forth to the vet each time! In the meantime, I got some snaps of Betty and Wilma enjoying breakfast this morning so you wouldn't nag so! Betty Wilma...she dropped her tomato in disgust at being disturbed for a photo! This was the best shot I got as she wasn't prepared to pose today! lol After that she just took her snacks into her hidey and ate them there!

Great new pictures beckee. Sorry I missed the ones of Hantaro and Pebbles yesterday, but I was overwelmed with all the pictures in the mini zoo thread! lol Wilma and betty look great too. Poor wilma trying to tuck into her tomato, and you are busy snapping away with the camera! How very rude! lol

LOL poor Wilma - a girl really doesn't like being photographed eating does she!
Nice to see you Betty and Wilma. Looking lovely as always.
Hope the mite treatment goes well and that your vet can come up with an easier plan for all of you.

Yay, finally new pics of all the girls. They are looking great as usual. Sorry Hanny is still having mite problems. I'm sure the vet is trying to find the right dosage to stop the mites and keep them away. I hope he finds it.

Good show Beckee! Nice to see the grass action warming up, and I'm sure the great British weather will allow lots more of that soon?! Hantaro is such a beauty (well they all are, but I'm allowed a favourite right?!) and she definitely looks like she'd make a nice lap warmer on a cold evening!
Maybe if you post some pictures here of you eating and show Wilma that you're in it with her, she'll be more cooperative next time?!

Great pics!!! That looks like a long willow bridge: is it? It's the 'large' size but not anything too huge? I think the photo makes it look longer! I was hanging in the cage to try and get a shot of Wilma and she's blocked out the light from the far end with her ample behind! Maybe if you post some pictures here of you eating and show Wilma that you're in it with her, she'll be more cooperative next time?! We'll call that plan B shall we?!
