Thank you piggypop! Their home here is only temporary. I think they are moving on today! But they will be living with a good friend of mine so I will see and hear how they are getting on!

Good grief I've been slack on this thread! Half of you wont even know who my piggies are! Never mind, I'm here to remedy that! So! Since I last updated, lots has gone on. We sadly lost Hantaro about 18 months ago to what I'm sure was just old age. She was definitely over 6 by all accounts and did very well up until her last day when she just didn't feel like coming out for breakfast veg and died a couple of hours later in my lap. Always time for one last cuddle in Hantaro's world! Since then we have moved house and have a much bigger garden so the remaining 3 girls spent most of their time outside on the lawn and enjoying the sights and sounds of various other animals outside. Unfortunatley Betty passed away overnight not long after we'd moved in which wasn't a complete surprise as she'd always been the weaker pig and despite battling on even after turning blind, she seemed to age a lot quicker than her sisters. Then a couple of months ago Wilma also died leaving poor old Pebbles on her own. She's coped very well considering she's always been one of a herd but I've been keeping my ears open for an elderly companion for her as I'd rather she had company of her own kind. It's been tricky trying to find something suitable as the rescues nearby all seemed to have babies or pairs of boars but after a few false starts I was contacted by a chap a couple of hours away near Cambridge who had taken in a job lot of guineas from an ex breeder/shower and was looking to home some of the older girls! He had two that were particularly good chums so I proudly introduce to you our new Rex piggies! Maisie is a 2 year old silver and white Rex who had come to the rescue with her elderly mother who since passed away. Maisie's a bit of a star and has had her pictures taken for a new cavy magazine coming in the near future apparently so I'll keep you posted on anything else I hear about that! Miss Mouse is a cinnamon and white Rex, aged between 1 and 2 years who came in with her daughter Baby but she went on to a new home earlier. They were already named when we got them a couple of days ago and we'll probably stick with the names as my daughter is already chatting away to them! They are very sweet but still a bit shy of us. So far they are in a temporary set up just off my kitchen to get used to us being around them and when they're a little more comfy with being here, we'll introduce them to Pebbles! The guy who I took them from is a qualified rodent advisor who works closely with Vedra at the Cambridge Cavy Trust so they came to me wormed and treated for parasites and with a bath and nail clip! I'd better spruce Pebbles up a bit before she meets them!! What do you think?

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of so many Spanglish ladies, especially Hantaro. Your new girls are gorgeous and look forward to hearing what Pebbles thinks of them.

I am sorry that you lost most of your old ladies.
Maisie and mouse are both delightful and I very much hope that Pebbles will take to them.
Is that man living near Mildenhall? In that case I think I may know him.

Wow, all three, and Pebbles is the only Flintstone pig left. I'm so sorry, Beckee!!! There is an incredible group of pigs over the rainbow bridge.
Love the new ladies, and I hope they all get along. LOVE the colors on both girls!!! Glad Izzy still has a lot of animals in her life!!!

Nope, nowhere near there I'm afraid yodelpig! (and yes I had to look that up on a map to see where it was before anyone sniggers at my geography skills!)
Thank you all for your comments on piggies past and present. Some of you will remember the original sows from many a past story and some of you are new and I've yet to catch up on your own piggy families but I'm getting there!
Maisie and Mouse and settling in well, getting the hang of yelling for veg and not at all bothered by the array of other animals that pass by their cage almost constantly. Pebbles has been in and spent time alongside them and there has been no adverse reactions so far so later in the week when I have a few hours at home in the relative peace of the day I shall see how they go meeting up!
More photos soon!

Hello stranger...x
Long time no post...*pout*...
I remember your posts when I got my first two piggies, Pucca n Garu. ( you might remember me as Lia in my past life...*smile* )
Unfortunately Garu died suddenly in February 2010 n Pucca fell asleep a couple of weeks ago. I haven't adopted any new piggies, although that was my first thought after losing Pucca.
My boss's daughter's piggie has just moved in as a house guest for the next couple of weeks...( or should that be wheeks...he he )...while they are on holiday. So am going to catch up with a few piggie snuggles.
...x...

It can be hard moving on after losing your babies. No doubt about that. Maybe pig sitting will make up your find for you about getting more pigs!

Hello Lia, yes I remember you and your two, sorry to hear they have trotted over the bridge too. Another lengthy gap between updates I'm afraid but it's been all go! Pebbles is still trooping on and not letting anyone younger and fitter pinch any of her veggies! She protested slightly to having two new buddies but once she realised it meant a bigger bowl of grub appearing in the cage each day she soon changed her tune! Just after Maisie and Mouse came to join us I had an email from someone looking to rehome a single older lady pig she had after her cagemate had died so after some deliberation we welcomed Poppy into the fold. She was followed some weeks later by Saffron who was a similar case of a last pig left standing in a home where they didn't want to get another guinea. Then to round up the gang and keep the rabble of ladies in order we also took in Mr Bojangles who was again a piggy left alone when his buddy passed away. He belongs to a friend in the next village to where I live and her little boy made the wise decision to let Mr Bo come and live here as he didn't want to get a new pig so he officially still belongs to them and gets visited for cuddles very often. Mr Bo had a neuter op at the beginning of the year and after the appropriate wait plus lots of time spent alongside the sows, he spent his first 24 hours with the girls yesterday and all is well as I type. Here are a few low quality photos from my phone to tide you over until I get the camera properly dusted off. It's been a gorgeous weekend here so lots of lawn time although my grass leaves a lot to be desired after taking a beating from chickens and sheep but that's a whole other story....! Mr Bojangles and Pebbles Poppy and Mr Bo gazing out across the lawn Saffron and Maisie All the girls, (clockwise from bottom left) Pebbles, Mouse, Maisie, Saffron and Poppy Maisie

Aww, they are looking great, and so nice to see them all getting along so well. I'm sure Mr. B is really happy to be part of the herd, after looking in from the outside for so long.

There's probably only about 4 people who could possibly miss you here now! We have a special forum to talk about coping with our feelings when we miss you though, so we're hanging in there okay.
Looking forward to those photos - I've posted at least 5 this year, so don't go showing off and posting more than 6.
