no photos yet but plenty when I get them home. From descriptions I found on the net I think Thumper is an agouti but not sure about Brin. He is a sort of very pale honey or caramel, he is huge and he has the softest fur - its like velvet. Hurry up hutch Hey, it might be fun for all of us to try and find bunny pictures that we think might best show what we think newpigs new bunnies will look like based on how newpig has described them. Then when newpig actually takes some pictures of her new bunnies lets see who is the closest to them. Of course we all would have to trust that newpig gave us a "good" description of what her new bunnies look like! You know what they say....beauty is in the eye of the beholder! lol Of course we all know that there are no ugly pets, right? Does that sound like fun? Anyone wanna play? pssst....newpig, could you PLEASE give me a better description because when I typed agouti into my search bar, well, here's what I got! An Agouti at the Honolulu Zoo!

Val, how did you manage to find an exact image of Thumper!
Now Val I know you are getting on in years and that things across the pond have different names to this side of the water but remember the title of the thread - Rabbit!
I did find a picture online that showed a rabbit very like Thumper but can't post it now. Haven't find any just like Brin yet.
I am very excited to say that I got hutches ordered for both Rodge and Podge and the rabbits today. I got them through a local shop who ar ordering them in from Germany for me and they gave me 15% off (I love to bargain) so beat the internet price and should be here in one week so shorter wait.
I ordered the one that I posted in the zooplus link for Brin and Thumper.

Newpig: you are TERRIBLE!
I turn my back on you for two second and you go rescuing animals and buying bargains. No wonder I end up driving 50 miles to adopt a guinea pig and stop off at IKEA on the way...
Can't wait for the pics!!!

nice Val, niiiiice... I know I know, Melza! I'm glad you also have a sense of humor like me! lol I could hardly believe my eyes at the beauty of an agouti! But he did make me laugh a bit and laughing is good for my sense of humor! I think he looks like a cross between a guinea pig and a rabbit, don't you think? He's so ugly he's cute! All kidding aside, I did run across this rabbit playhouse and I thought it was really a great idea! It's just made out of cardboard boxes and looks easy to make with just a few cutouts. Cool for guinea pigs too!

I'm trying to find something for them to play in that is somewhat weather proof. They will have so much room in the run that I want to set up some sort of tunnels and hideys but will be outside and on the grass so don't want it to go sodden when it rains (and dont forget this is Ireland - it rains a lot!)

My rabbits love tables. in their hutch they each have 2 tables, one on each end really. they love to be up high, *it makes them feel all big and important* that is always an idea. our are made from plywood. they can be free standing or have legs. not to hard to make, i mean i made the ones for our hutches!!! im not sure about tunnels for the inside of a hutch/run. they take up too much space, the hutch reall just needs to be kept so they can walk freely. rabbits spend a lot of time just sitting and thinking. they love to explore out in the garden on harness, or you could make up a large outside run and have your tunnels in that. oh and as for hideys, same deal really, they are probably a better bet than tunnels, but our lot dont seem to care for them, bunnies arent so timid as piggies, so dont feel the need to constantly be hiding in hideys or tunnels. they are quite happy to flomp out with their leggies in the air.

Well I have one new arrival. Here is the first picture of Brin. Just one so far as don't want to stress him out. I was just able to bring Brin home tonight as his bonded girl, Thumper, has developed an abscess and has just started treatment for it. Have been told they are very dangerous for rabbits so hoping as its been caught early and she is young that she gets through it. The treatment will last approx 2 weeks. Brin is so calm and friendly. Have had lots of cuddles already and can see he will soon be the boss of this household.

Awwww Hello Brin! Nice to meet you bunny boy! Are you the agouti or Thumper? You sure don't look like the picture of the agouti I saw and posted for your new mum! lol You are sooooo much prettier! Newpig that is sad that Thumper could not come home with his buddy Brin. Is his abscess really bad? What caused it, did they say? I hope everything goes well and treatment will be short. Hurry up and get better Thumper, we all want to meet you! What do the kids think about their new pet? Something like this: = your son = your daughter Good Job newpig!

Thumper is the agouti - she is a lot greyer. I need Melza now to tell me - is Brin an orange? Brin is the boy and Thumper is the girl.
I am worried about Thumper. Nigel (the fosterer) is worried as he has seen rabbits loose limbs to them before and they can go internal and kill. He did say she is young and strong so hopeful. He'll let me know how she is doing. He did say that she may be prone to them in the future but she is only 10 months old and I want her to have a forever loving home. If she gets through this as long as I know what to watch for and how to treat her I still really want her, and am worried that Brin will miss her. Although Nigel said better for her to have peace to fight this off as I wasn't sure whether I should lift Brin tonight or not.
That was a bit down in the dumps wasn't it!
Yes Val the kids went mad. They have been stroking Brin and he was sitting on my son's knee for ages. They didn't want to go to bed tonight.

aw yay! One is here! Welcome my dearest Brin!!!! you are so gorgeous! look at you! i just want to give you a big hug! i am so sorry to hear about Thumper XOX, hope she gets well soon. it will be tough for Brin being alone, but Thumper really does need to be on her own to get better. ideally though Brin should be in the cage beside Thumper, since they were bonded she may be a bit stressed not to have him there. also they will have to be rebonded after the treatment, since they would have been away from each other and would most likely have forgotten who each other is, especially with Brin being in a new territory. but they can be rebonded and it will not be as hard as the intiail bonding. where is the tumour on Thumper? i hope Thumper gets well newpig. XOX Brin almost looks sooty fawn to me... he maybe going through a moult, hence the flecked gray through his coat. but id vouch for him being a sooty fawn, judging by pics of that colour in the french lop rabbit, they are a bit darker than that of a minilop. young sooty fawn minilop sooty fawn french lop here is an agouti french lop the agouti colour is that distinct 'wild rabbit' colour. the orange colour, also sometimes known as fawn, lacks the grey flecks that Brin has. this is a very young fawn minilop, we fostered him for a few weeks until he was big enough to go to a forever home. hehe! i love this, 4 fawn/orange bunnies... so yea, i reckon Brin is a sooty fawn. all the best

I'm so glad you all liked his photo. He has been busy exploring the house again this morning. He is just so calm and docile. He jumped up onto the piggy cage to say hello to Rodge and Podge as well.
Mel thanks for the info - when I see those pictures, especially the grown up french lop he is a sooty fawn. Gorgeous photos by the way.
The abscess on Thumper is just above her eye. At the minute not sure what started it.

Oh Lesa Brin is beautiful or should I say very handsome with him being a boy, he really is gorgeous! Welcome lovely Brin I'm so sorry about Thumper's abscess and really hope it clears up very soon, they are horrid things, especially for rabbits. Get better very soon Thumper Brin looks very healthy in the picture Lesa, a lovely weight and his coat is a lovely colour. Sounds like he's really settling in

That is not a good place for an abcess. i really hope she does well! XOX she is young, so that is going for her! i am sure she will pull through just fine. for some reason the sooty fawn french lop is a slightly different colour to that of a dwarf, my bun toffee, is a sooty fawn, but has a different tone. glad you liked the pics... took me a while to find them all!

What a cute bunny! He reminds me of my rabbits... aged 7-12 we had loads because the neighbours couldn't tell the girls from the boys and always ended up mixing them up . They're the sweetest little things though, I'd love to have more in the future. Good luck with Thumper <3

Aww Brin is gorgeous! No wonder the kids didn't want to go to bed! I'm pleased to hear he's settling in so well too.
I'm sorry to hear about Thumper's abscess. I will keep everything tightly crossed for her, and hope that in a couple of weeks, Brin is showing a healthy Thumper round their new home.

I just can't believe how calm this bun is. He curled up on my knee last night and slept for ages before pulling on my jumper to get down and have a poop on the newspaper.
He is so happy just hopping round the house and the kids are completely in love with him, although do have to keep following them around to make sure they are being gentle with him and not getting too over excited.
Jackie, I am glad to hear you think he is a healthy weight etc. I weighed him when I brought him home to start keeping a note of his weight and he is about 3kg and I thought that might be a bit under weight for a lop. However, there is nothing to say he is a pure breed, he did have that upset tummy last week and he feels a healthy weight.
He keeps sitting beside Rodge and Podge and jumping on top of their cage so wonder is he a bit lonely for Thumper. Keeping my fingers crossed for her.
