Aw thats is great he is so docile, neutered bucks tend to be, so i have heard.
3 kg, that sounds about right, how much should a purebred french lop weigh? *we dont haev them here, only minis *1.6 Kg* adn dwarf lops *2 and up kgs*
he doesnt look underweight, and if he had a tummy upset that might account for the slight weigh deviation.
i would say he is a bit lonely, to be expected with a bonded bun who is not with their bunny buddy. but he has you lot and rodge and podge for company, so he should be sweet.

Hi Brin, Welcome to wheekers, it is great to see you handsome boy. Sorry to hear about thumper, I am sure she will be fine after treatment. I send healing love to thumper. Lesa, great to see your little boy is finally home, nice to hear he is settling in and is enjoying his cuddles already. x

I looked it up online Mel and the general opinion seems to be 4.5-6kg so he is a lot lighter than that. Mind you he doesn't feel light when you are carrying him or cuddling him and my bigger scales aren't as accurate as the ones I use for the piggies. I think I'll take him in to meet my vet and get her to weigh him. I want to chat to her about vaccinations anyway.
A couple of people have said now he looks a healthy weight so that is reassuring. Its so worrying being a new furball Mum!
Thanks to all of you for Brin's warm welcome and I'll get some more pics of him later now that he is more settled.

well you dont know if he is purebred or not and that makes a huge difference.
they are big rabbits french lops arent they? 6kg, that is a lot of rabbit.
from the pics he looks fine in terms of weight, he doesnt look underweight, but since you are considering taking him to the vet, then get them to have a look at him, but i would say he is fine in terms of weight... mostly because the weight you gave was for a purebred and unless Brin is purebred that weigh is only a guideline.

I've never weighed our Thumper, mainly because he's too big, length ways even for human scales. I usually go off on how he looks which is quite chubby most of the time lol
From the picture Lesa, he does look a healthy weight. Good luck at the vets when you take him.

something else I didn't know Melza. Brin is acting like he has always lived here and I just can't imagine not having him here now. Had bad news yesterday as I rang to see if his big hutch was in (they told me one week when I ordered it) to be told could be another 2 weeks! Some new photos, you can see how chilled out he is. This willow ball just arrived for him yesterday and he loves it - its stuffed with hay and he rolls it round, throws it and eats the hay Apologies for the raisins in these 2 - I had literally just swept up a pile of them and then when he rolled over he had done another pile He tried some grass yesterday and some corn, both of which he loved. I am also slowly mixing excel for bunnies in with the mix he was getting to get him over onto a pellet.

Oh Lesa, Brin is so gorgeous. He does look so relaxed. And I can see what you are saying about him always being with you. It doesn't look like he is new to your family, it looks like he is just part of the furniture so to speak. What great photos, I especially like the one where Brin is laying flat and asleep. He looks so happy and content, you are doing a great job of being a Bunny Mum too Lesa. How is Thumper doing? Any News? Love Donna x

Aww gorgeous pictures Lesa and the one on his side is extra cute :-*They have to feel very relaxed to roll on their side so you can 100% say he is a very happy bunny in his new home.
I can't call Thumpers offerings raisins, they are much bigger lol

Welcome Brin! Lovely pics! One tip about weighing an animal which my Mum used to do with our cats. Stand on the human scales yourself and then stand on holding the animal. Then you can work out the difference...

That's good to know about him being happy if he rolls. Its his little routine - have a groom, roll around and lie down for a sleep. Then get up (leaving a large pile of raisins behind), run round the sofa and go a bit mad for a while then find a cosy spot and start all over again.
No news on Thumper yet. I asked her fosterer to let me know how she is doing. He is really busy and I know he thought will be 2 weeks before we know how she is doing so I am trying to be patient and wait the 2 weeks to call about her.
