Ah, I don't know if they came from the soil or went into the soil. We've seen them swarming outside on hot days, and know they come right through the screen, so I don't know if they ever did come out of the soil. We bought the plants indoors when it got cold enough outside to drive the swarming bugs through the screen, so it seemed to Vic as if we brought in the plants and started getting the bugs. True, but that didn't mean they came from the soil. We tried all sorts of things to kill them in the soil, and nothing worked, which may have been because they weren't in there. They were just around the plants, as that's where their food was.
Either way, if they fly around anywhere in the house, the blue light attracts them, and they get stuck to the sticky paper. It should help this winter.

I used a small animals playpen for a long time. It was too high for them to climb out, and connected to itself in a way that kept it together pretty well. It was too flimsy for Morty, when he came along, hairy bulldozer that he was I had extra grids, so connected a bunch into a playpen even Morty couldn't destroy

The bug zappers? No. I bought THESE: INDOOR BUG ZAPPERSThere's a sticky sheet inside. The light attracts them to the sheet, where they get stuck.

I don't know how much they are, now, but before the pandemic you could buy a box of grids for about $24. THESE Grids They're $39.99 at Walmart, and I don't know how much at Target, but they come with the connectors, and all you have to do is connect the grids into a three-sided run, and they're all set. You'll get enough grids to make different designs, and might even be able to extend their cages a bit, add a porch, if you will

Ah, yes I went through that hyper overreaction from my husband for a while. No idea what was going on with him, but I actually started lying to him and telling him I was using meds I already had. Not trying to come between you and your wife, but if one spouse is going to be hyper overreactionary without any explanation that makes any sense, they they deserve to be lied to I hope his foot is getting a whole lot better, and if it's Bumblefoot, you shouldn't have to have him on meds long term. Once it's cured, as long as he isn't put back in the situation that caused it, he should be okay. Best of luck on your new job, tomorrow!

Hello and welcome, shadowblade0. I certainly hope your pig is not dying. I agree with Bean that it sounds as if your pig has an ear infection, or at the least mites, and a vet visit is needed. Check some other factors, as the vet will ask you about them. How are his poos? Are they looking good, normal, or are they too small, too dry, etc.? Other than flicking his ear, is he acting normally. He's not lying around and acting listless, staring into corners, not eating or drinking, etc.? Does he scratch a lot, and if so, what parts of his body does he scratch. I would definitely get him to a vet, vets have the right instruments to check his ears and other parts. Good luck, and please keep us posted.
