Hi and welcome! It is great that you have been doing your research and are are determined to care so well for your two gorgeous boys. I am blessed here in Britain to have access to so many guinea pig rescues. The sad thing is that they are usually full up with piggies looking for a new home and many waiting to come in...

Hi and welcome! PLEASE do not put a guinea pig in a ball - unlike other animals, ground roaming guinea pigs don't have a very flexible spine and can do themselves serious damage; the same goes for ferret leads which are often sold for piggies, too. Teeth will grow back quite quickly if the root is not damaged. Please mush up any pellets (better than muesli) and chop all veg and even hay very finely, so she can chew it. If necessary place it her mouth. Please do not give too much fruit or tomatoes; they are in acid and can aggavate the injury as well as cause mouth sores. Here is information about broken teeth and hand feeding: www.guinealynx.info/teeth_broken.htmlwww.guinealynx.info/handfeeding.htmlVeg high in vitamin C are: sweet peppers of any colour (1 slice per day suffices), broccoli (all parts; the stem is higher in calcium than the florets); fresh herbs like cilantro, parsley, dill, mint, basil, fennel (1 sprig per day). Please vary between these. Make sure that your piggy gets unlimited hay; it should make up to 80% of the daily intake. Pease make sure that your son is never handling a piggy without your supervision. Once the teeth have grown back, it would be great if you considered getting her a same sex friend. Guinea pigs are group animals and not wired to be on their own. www.guinealynx.info/companionship.html

I am so sorry that you have lost your beautiful girl! How is Portabella coping with losing her second old friend?

Sounds like they are having a good time despite the heat. You can leave frozen water bottles that have been well wrapped in a towel out as well.

Thanks for the pics! The girls are lovely. It is very bittersweet to see piggies grow to such an old age.
Sorry for your loss of Gadget. He may have had a blockage or gut stasis.
It would be great if you could find some company for Gizmo. Generally, if you do not have the possiblity to properly "date" your boar over several days at a rescue, a sizeable age gap is the next safest bet, especially if you could find a place where Gizmo could meet several youngster and find one to his liking. When it comes down to it, character compatibility is the key to a successful boar bond.
I am sorry that you have had such a busy time, but congrats on making it through college!

We went to see the Olympic torch being carried past only half a mile from us yesterday afternoon, so it was just a gentle stroll up the road for us! Thankfully, the football (soccer) stadium is right at the other end of the city from us, so we won't be drowned in traffic! Some of the games are going to be played in Coventry. However, I am much more into tennis anyway and I am certainly enjoying a double servind of Wimbledon!!! I also love watching the gymnastics and athletics. Today is certainly as wet and grotty as they come! My mum in Switzerland was complaining about having 35 C - if we could halve the difference, we would each end up with a nice 25 C.

Glad to have you back! Internet problems can be ever so annoying! I had to read that "hub" sentence twice, too, to get the right idea!!!

Where on this body? Is it dots or patches? Is it on the body or on hairs? Fungal can sometimes cause crusty exudations that harden. I agree with 3piggles that perhaps the Guinea Lynx medical forum or reference threads may be able to help. www.guinealynx.info/forums/

Piggies running to their owners takes a few months of patience and persistence. It depends on how much used your guinea pigs to humans and being handled from birth (yours obviously are not). Trust takes TIME TIME TIME to grow and you won't see much success for quite some time, and then suddenly thing move ahead.
Most guinea pigs will run away. Try to get them used to you and your hands moving around by dropping or holding small bits of vegm fluffing up their hay etc. while talking to them gently all the time. That stage can take some weeks, but they should catch on that your hands and you moving around in the cage come with nice things eventually.
Otherwise, shoo them in the house and lift them out from there. The less space they have to run the better and the quicker you get hold of them the easier it is on them.

Hi and welcome! We have a very detailed pregnancy/birth and baby care guide in our wheekerpedia, which will hopefully answer most of your questions. wheekers.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=library&action=display&thread=7303You can handle pups straight away, but it would be good if you waited until they start moving around a bit and do it while mummy is busy eating and not as bothered; give them a little check and weigh them tonight. For now, I would just spot clean the birthing area when that it opportune without disturbing the young family too much. Just put a clean rag or big fresh cosy over a soiled/damp area and wait with a full clean until tomorrow.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
It would be great if you could link in the videos. Please ask for help if you do not know why.
Can you tell us a bit more about your piggies?
