Quick update! The girls are doing well, Cocoas her usual big fluffy bulldozing self, meeping to herself, sleeping in her hammock, and munchin on spinach, and Apricot is still very cute and sweet! She's proven to be a bit if a habitual nibbler, but only with my husband. He says every once in a wile she gives him a nip, but he has a tendency to forget to wash his hands before handling her, and being that he is my husband he never goes long without snacking on something, so I'm kinda figuring she smells pizza/bagels/apples/etc. on his hands and is giving them a taste test. Anyway, here's a cute little video of Cocoa wandering around her cage. Regrettably I sincerely haven't the room in my apartment for a c&c cage (anyone with a baby knows that with babies come a living room packed from side to side with swings, rocking chairs, toy baskets, changing tables, etc!), but I try to maximize the space in her store cage as best as I can, and got the biggest one I could find/afford. I arranged it so that she can easily do laps around the whole perimeter of the cage, using the waffle block house and chubes accordingly, and she has a little food/water/hay loft above that doesn't take up her floor space. Any suggestions on how to make my cage as great as possible would be nice n.n here she is! flic.kr/p/9Gi1Bx

It has been a while with no update, sorry guys!
Anyway, after quarantine Api and Cocoa had a bit of a rough 'n tumble introduction. As Cocoa has struggled with in the past, she had issues asserting her dominance even though Api is much younger than her (at the time of intro Cocoa was about 7 months and Api was about 2 months), most likely because of her special issues (partial deafness/blindness from a stroke she suffered very early on), and quite frankly she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Where many piggies learn associative behaviors somewhat quickly, ie wheeking when they hear the veggie bag, Cocoa is surprised as ever every time I put hay and veggies and stuff in her cage, where most other pigs would learn how to anticipate these things. Anyway, Api, although very chill and loving, kept trying to show the much larger and older Cocoa who's boss, which thoroughly confused Cocoa, which lead to about 2 solid weeks of daily charging, rumble strutting, mounting, nipping, etc. But now they have worked out their differences and get on quite well!
It is very interesting having two pigs after just having one for a while, it really makes you appreciate what makes the piggies unique and special! And I think Cocoa has lost a little chunk now that she has someone to chase around the cage, which is great for her, as she was becoming a bit of a lazy bones while I was looking for her cage mate. I have some darling pictures that I'll try and upload shortly!
In other news, the family is doing well, Stella the cat may be going back to her original home (she's my sisters beloved childhood pet, I was just taking care of her while she was pregnant, but she's due any day now with my new little nephew Ollie! Hurray!), and I am slowly but surely convincing the hubs that a dog is in order, now that we will no longer have Stella. He was to run the New York marathon in a few years, and he's beginning to like the idea of a training partner! I told him now he can't make excuses to miss a run, cause a dog would need to be walked a few times a day anyway! So we've been scoping out a few nice shelters around us. Were probably going to go with an adult pit bull, since sooooo many need homes and in my opinion one of the greatest dogs you can have! We've seen a few sweet gentle giants, but I'm forcing myself to wait until the kitty is officially out of the house, as I don't want to be too out numbered while I'm home with the baby all day.
I'll keep you updated!

I am glad that Cocoa and Api are getting on now; Api will probably take over one day when she is adult, but will look after Coco.
Best of luck for your sister's birth and oyur search for a dog!

LOL please bare with me, I thought these were the cutest silly edits on flickr, I just had to dress them up in tiaras and flowers hee hee. So yes, here they are since they've decided to get along. Honestly they were always right cuddley during lap time, even when they would bicker in the cage. And yeah yodelpig, I was thinking that too. When Cocoa tries to push her off a lettuce leaf if she's feeling gutsy, Apricot just kinda looks over like "yeah whatever grandma" and keep eating lol, so I wouldn't be surprised if that happened when Api is bigger. But I'm confident whoever is top pig in the future, they'll be happily bonded for a good while. They act like an old married couple in their cage haha, always eating and sleeping at the together, having a few bickers here and there but always ending it in a happy jog around the cage. So cute!

Just getting caught up and love the pics of Api from early May. She is adorable, and you got a great portrait pic of her. The video is great, and I hadn't realized Cocoa's ears were so big. They are wonderful ears!!!
Glad the girls are getting along. The dominance dance is annoying at best and worrisome at worst, but once they bond, it really does bring out each pigs personality. Love the silly pigtures. I haven't figure out how to do any of that, and keep telling myself I am just going to sit down and learn one day.

Haha thanks for the words of wisdom! I can tell that they are quite connected regardless, I can now see what you all mean when you say during lap time their always "facing the herd", they'll give each other reassuring wheeks across the living room when I'm giving them solo lap time . It's very darling!
