He has learned that veggies come from the fridge. So now while he's running around in the kitchen he will stop and wheek at the fridge every now and again. I will have to lay down with him tomorrow when he is out. He seems a little pouty today since changing his cage, so we are going to go outside for grass in a bit.

Picturing him stopping at the frig brings a smile to my face. That's a great idea about going outside for a treat. I'm sorry to hear that he is pouting. Hugs to you and him.

My girls used to go mad everytime they heard the fridge open when they were indoors! They don't take long to learn things do they! They know when it's morning time and as soon as I walk out to then they wheek for England! So cute tho xx

Mine aren't wheekers, but they will stand with their hands on the Plexiglas and stare me into submission

I have one of each...Harry is a wheeker and Weasley puts his paws on the side of Hogwarts and give me this look that just...well, makes me mushy. They both know how to look at you where you go to them and think, I'm not going to give them any veggies, but then they look at me and I make a run to the frig.

A former member taught her pigs not to wheek, by not responding to the wheeks, and responding when they didn't wheek. I've been doing the same for years, and they know not to wheek for treats, but it doesn't stop them from dancing and generally making their feelings known. They get treats, but not on demand

I have to admit, Harry's wheeks melt my heart. I'd hate to train him to not do it anymore. I think that I'd miss them. Hubby and I don't give in every time he wheeks, so he tries periodically.

Henry is currently running around the kitchen. He loves all the space and the tile floors don't seem to bother him too much. We got him a few more toys over the weekend. He loves things with bells. Bird toys are great for him. I shredded some newspaper and stuffed a paper bag, he loves to run in there and hide. Had him out last night while I was watching TV (like every night) He loves to cuddle His personality has changed since becoming a single pig. He seeks us out more for attention now and he seems to really love it, where as before it was as if he only tolerated it. It took him being alone for me to realize it.

Jo, he sheds something terrible! You would think he was a small dog with the amount of hair he leaves behind! (I put up with it only because he is so cute ) Sent from my SCH-I435 using proboards

There is a special relationship with lone pigs, but I love being in a herd with them. A play a lot of special games with Momo, as I'm her herd mate. Morty and Mia have each other.

Henry's coat is a weird length. Its not short like a lot of pigs I have seen, but its not long either.
3piggles tell me about these games you and Momo play. Henry is doing so well as a single, he may stay that way, unless he tells me otherwise. I just don't know that I have the time for 2 and he seems so happy right now. He has been thru so much, I don't want to upset him.

Sometimes I rearrange her toys while she's playing in them. She loves that, and has to constantly check out what I'm doing. I put a piece of fleece over some of the tubes/tunnels to create something different. I put my finger in her condo until she sniffs it, then I will slowly move it around on the outside of the Plexiglass, and she'll follow it from the inside. I periodically slide it up and over the top, so she can sniff it, lick it, etc. One game I play with all the pigs is to touch them on the butt so they run away. They always come back for more. I make the sound boo-boop each time, and it's definitely part of the game. I also move their houses and tunnels around with them inside, which they love. They chase it to keep up. I'll put more thought into the actual games, Faafaa, as I play them all so regularly, I don't think about them

Thanks 3piggles. I am going to try some of those things, starting with rearranging the cage. I never do that (embarrassed) I weighed Henry this morning and he went from 1 pound 15 ounces to 1 pound 12 ounces. :-( I know he's healthy, but maybe he is missing his friend a little. I have to do more to keep him busy and happy I guess. He is eating and wheeking and doing all the things a happy pig does so I was surprised by the weight loss.

Pigs can lose as much as 30mg from going to the bathroom before eating, and add it after a good meal. Don't be concerned unless he continues to lose regularly. That amount of weight loss can easily be from increased activity, generally eating less because he's no longer competing for food, or even a change in weather or routine

Faafaa, what toys have you gotten for Henry. I've been evaluating the toys for the boys. They seem to be ignoring most of the things I've thought of. Harry likes the k-bob that I have hanging. They no longer play with the toilet paper rolls. Last night I opened a lunch sized paper back on the bottom and stuck hay in it. They have been enjoying that.
I'm so happy for you and Henry. The progress he is experiencing is phenomenal. I would tend to agree that with the amount of attention that you are giving him, that Henry might just be better off as a lone piggie.
3piggles, thanks for sharing the games you play. I've started doing the whole rearrange the cage while piggies are there last night. I think they weren't quite sure what to make out of it. I tried the touch the bum thing, but they never let me get close enough to their bum. I think they think that I was planning on picking them up. I did start the daily clean with them in Hogwarts without moving them out like I used to do. They have grown much more comfortable with my hands in there with them that way.
