Morning Squeekie
Good luck at the vets today. Hopefully you'll not have to have an op and Aiden will be able to look at your toosypegs and sort them out without making you take a nap first!
Beatrix - be a good girl for Mummy while she takes your big brother to see Uncle Aiden - he'll be back real soon.
Finally - Jackie, I must be hormonal - I cried my eyes out last night when I thought Leanne was going to die in the fire (BTW Leanne is a bunny rabbit!) in Corrie - I was so upset Andy had to get me Pip for a huge hug! Then when that new manager of Underworld went in and saved him - awww! He could have left Peter in there though! Simon would be better off without him!
Love and hugs to you all

Sorry to hear he wasn't doing so well again last night. Hope all goes well with the vet visit.

Thanks everyone. Squeekie's vet visit didn't reveal anything particular wronge with his teeth, just a slight overgrowth of a couple of molars and Aiden said he didn't see any wounds in his mouth etc. Aiden showed me how they flush a guinea pigs mouth for examination and Squeekie was so calm about having it done. I had to hold his rear up quite high while Aiden flushed his mouth out. He actually hadn't passed many poopettes for around 12 hours prior to the visit but passed a few while we were at the vets. His tum is ok but Aiden has given him Maxolon 0.5ml three times aday to keep his tum going. I was giving Squeekie 1ml of Metacam twice aday and Aiden has up it to 3 times aday for now. Squeekie managed some grass this afternoon and evening but he seems very weak and is just wanting to rest. He is keeping his head up when I'm handfeeding him though. He still does his purrs when I first lift him bless him and I do think he's comfortable although he's acting frail. He only nibbles a little hay on his own so I'm feeding him around the clock. I really hope Squeekie turns a recovery corner soon. Thanks again for your lovely messages, we really appreciate them

Gosh you must feel like a real nurse maid at the moment Jackie what with handfeeding and injecting and what not!
That's good news that the vet couldn't find anything seriously wrong with Squeekie's teeth and hopefully he will perk up with the extra meds and get his appetite back.

Oh boy, that does not sound good. I'm so sorry that Aiden didn't find anything wrong that can be fixed. Does Aiden think it is old age settling in? Poor Squeekie. I am glad that he has at least managed some grass. I hope he continues to eat on his own and improve day by day. I have my fingers crossed here and will keep Squeekie in my prayers tonight. Tight Hugs Jackie.

I'm so glad that Squeekie is still purring and happy when Mum picks him up. How precious those sounds are to a Mum's heart. Our Squeekie is one very special boy.

Awww poor Squeekie... I remember the joys of the teeth problems with Tazzybumble. Rimadyl is also good as pain relief and I dont think it upsets the tummy as much as metacam, but if Squeekie can handle metacam that's great - Tazzy couldnt handle that.
Sending you loads of love and hugs.

How is Squeekie doing today Jackie? And how are you feeling? Have you been having to feed through the night too or can you manage with just last thing and then an early breakfast?
Hope he's a bit perkier today and able to eat a bit more himself. xx

Thanks so much everyone. I've been so worried about Squeekie and late last night I thought I was going to loose him as he was so very weak. This afternoon after I'd come downstairs from having a bath, he had his little head in the food bowl. He didn't eat much, but he was showing an interest. He also managed grass and Dandi's and a little hay. He also drank from his bottle but had to take it to him. Hes still resting more than usual. I am going to take Squeekie back to see Aiden in the morning if I can get an appointment. If its in the afternoon, we'll have to use 3 buses but I do have a heatpad to keep him warm outside. I've talked to Karen and she mentioned even a small spur can affect their appetite. I just hope if Aiden does do some dental treatment that I can persuade him to use the restraint jacket rather than sedate Squeekie. At least by making sure his teeth are ok, I can rule that out. Thanks very much Anna for all your advice about dental treatment and how Chrissy did dental treatment on your dear Tazzy. Will also buy some Daktarin gel, as Karen mentioned there are alot of fungal problems going on, so its worth ruling that out too. Awww poor Squeekie... I remember the joys of the teeth problems with Tazzybumble. Rimadyl is also good as pain relief and I dont think it upsets the tummy as much as metacam, but if Squeekie can handle metacam that's great - Tazzy couldnt handle that. Sending you loads of love and hugs. xxx I will mention the Rimadyl again Anna and hopefully with Aiden being a different vet, he might give it ago. Squeekie is pooping fairly well but that could be the Maxolon doing its job. Although I've been giving Squeekie poop soup regular, hes actually trying to take them directly from Beatrix. He did that with Clover and Peachy when he was very poorly a few years ago. Beckee, I'm feeding him every 4 hours so have been up in the night with Squeekie and his meds are every 6 hours around the clock but I'm coping just fine as I did the same for my little Sweetpea for months. Anyway sorry for the long update, I just hope I start seeing more improvements.
