How did I manage to miss this thread. What a gorgeous bunch. I really love Crystal. I have a white cat too although she is a short hair. I've had 3 long hair cats so know what that grooming can be like! I've spotted this girl (Lola) in the shelter here and Crystal reminds me of her (I'd love to adopt her but have said no to any more cats) www.ni.cats.org.uk/index.asp?m=gallery&id=3&p=0

Oh wow, newpig, Lola looks just like Crystal with just a bit longer fur. Too bad you can't adopt her, but I bet someone will soon. My hubby says no more cats after these 3, but someday I WILL have an orange cat! ;D Actually, he'd probably give in...

Thanks, 3piggles! I imagine I'll get lots of snuggles the next few nights with this cold weather coming in - ick (to the cold weather, not the cuddles, heehee).

Sweet Crystal is 17 today!! Hard to believe it! Buster has a few more months and then he'll be 17, too.

Gotta love senior cats! My dad has a 19 yesr old cat and my sister has another 17 year old. Merlin, my sister's cat, is just so lovely - he's very friendly, miaows very loudly and has plenty of 'senior moments' which make us all laugh!

Merlin's a great name for a cat! I think Crystal will be with us for a few more years. She's in really good health, just a slight thyroid condition, but hers isn't as high a my other two cats'. She also hasn't lost weight and walks just fine (no hip problems). Buster, my other senior kitty, looks his age but he's still fiesty!

We got a winter white hamster at the rescue today. He's the cutest little thing! It was McKenna's turn to pick a name, so she named him Cubby. I'll post a picture tomorrow. Right now he's in a 10 gallon tank until I figure out exactly what type of cage I want to get or make. I think he was a bit upset because he kept making this chattering noise at me when I was trying to pick him up to move him to his cage. I only speak piggy, lol.

Will watch out for the pics. Have you had hamsters before? The kids like the idea of them but have to admit I think I'd be nervous of handling them.

I've had hampsters before and they were really nice.... but bit my brother one time and there was soo much blood!!! I think they are nervous like guinea pigs, but soo fluffy. This thread makes me want hampsters again, haha, even though guinea pigs take up enough of my attention!!!

Here are some pictures of the little guy. I think he's still a bit unsure of things because he wouldn't eat the carrots we gave him. Newpig, I've had rats, mice and gerbils before but never hamsters. One bit my husband when he was little, so he doesn't want anything to do with Cubby.

Early this morning I heard a strange meowing in the backyard that sounded an awful lot like one of our cats who passed on 2 years ago. My cats have access to the yard, but it certainly wasn't one of their meows. I peeked out the window and finally saw the top of an orange tail on the other side of some bushes. I've always wanted an orange cat, but don't have one now. Two of my cats were in the kitchen and were freaked out by the visitor, but Ellis, my big boy, was hanging out on a patio chair watching the visitor. He (or she) took off as soon as I went outside, though. I'm assuming he jumped onto our shed and then over the fence, but I'm not sure. As soon as he was gone, Ellis promptly peed by the shed to let the visitor know this is his turf, lol! I guess the other cat is friendly because there wasn't any fighting, which we did have happen a long time ago when a different cat came into our yard.
