Awww, just getting caught up on the Cubby pictures. He's adorable!!! Too bad your hub doesn't want anything to do with him. I really helps if the animal loving and care is a family effort.
The orange cat was probably a female, since it seems to be the males who fight for territory. They don't mind new females entering, just new males. Maybe she will come back and join your group!!!

Our orange friend continues to make nightly visits into the backyard and we caught s/he relaxing under the bushes in the front yesterday. It's a brash little thing though, comes right up to the patio door and right by the cat door that leads into the garage. We just might find him/her in the kitchen one day! Wouldn't bother me any...maybe I'll finally get my orange cat!

Most ginger cats are male I think, unless diluted with another colour. We used to have a couple of cats that came into our garden that my lot really didn't like. One in particular was a big white, scrappy looking male and we blame him for delivering the bite that eventually caused Dino to lose part of his tail. He and Dino would really lay into each other. It's always so bizarre to me as to humans Dino is the soppiest, chattiest cat in the country. We only have one other cat living near us now and she is an old girl who doesn't come over to us, but does have screaming matches with Huxley when he goes over there.
I hope your orange visitor appears again and is friendly.

Hi there love the pics! Ellis is stunning. One of my cats prefers a large porceline bowl too!

I opened the kitchen door once and a crow hopped in. Spent the summer, lol. Never know what will be waiting outside when they know you are animal lovers!!!

Most ginger cats are male I think, unless diluted with another colour. I've heard this before, newpig, but forgot. I bet the cat is a male, because he looks full ginger. He has gotten quite brash! My husband actually caught him in the garage - he had gone through the cat door! My cats are not too happy with the situation, so I found the spot where the cat is digging under the gate and blocked it with a brick for the time being. I thought this would work, but I heard him meowing full force in the backyard again last night. He's certainly a determined little thing!

I can't figure out if this cat belongs to someone or is a stray. He doesn't come around during the day, but that could be because the dogs are out and about. Every night, though, he comes to visit. He was stretched out, relaxing on the top of our fence last night.
I was trimming tree branches on the side of the house yesterday and found a pile of fur and feathers from rabbits and birds, so obviously something is hunting in our yard. I wanted to put food and water out for the cat, but hub was not too happy about that, saying he sure doesn't look like a stray and if I start to feed him he'll never leave. Since we have 3 cats already, the prospect of another isn't too apealing to him.

I can understand hub's reluctance to add another cat, though it's usually the cats who go through the biggest change when another cat is added. If they accept him/her, you probably won't notice the difference.
It does seem as if the cat is hunting in your yard. Question is why? There are other yards that probably don't already have cats hunting in them, yet he chose an already occupied yard??? No idea!!!

Oh bless him, one of our little kitties is a stray. With regard to the male ginger theory, I heard that ginger cats were usually males and torties female. I don't know if it's true.

I was driving on a really busy road (6 lanes) today and saw this little dog cross all the lanes without getting hit, bless his heart. I turned the car around to try to get him, but it took a few u-turns to finally track him down. Luckily when I pulled over, he came to me and wasn't scared at all (I was afraid I might spook him and he'd dart into traffic). He was hot and thirsty, and he didn't appear to have tags, but it turned out he had this tiny little holder on his collar that unscrewed and had a piece of paper with his owner's name and number. The dog belonged to a woman who was moving into a nursing home, so the dog was staying with the woman's daughter. Apparently he'd gotten out and didn't know where he was or what was going on. This might sound silly to some, but I'm so glad I was on that road and that time, because who knows if someone else would have helped the poor little guy.

I dunno if you've seen this, but it's worth a watch.
***WARNING - happy ending, but not easy to watch!***
Funny how many people will just ignore something, even when it's obvious it's in distress. I reckon that dog's lucky you were there.

Oh, that's awful!!! The other dog is so sweet to help his friend, though. I can't watch anything with an animal being hurt; it just kills me.

Anaira - I hope you don't mind the warning I put in your post, just so folk can choose not to watch if they think it might upset them.
There's nothing like us crazy animal folk, and that includes the animals like that dog in the video!

I've seen that post and just couldn't believe how uncaring and insensitive people are. Just getting where they're going, at any cost. That dog was very lucky you came along!!!

Well done you and thank God there are people like you. I stopped once for a hedgehog who was wanderind in the road where there was an island. I was the only one who stopped and took him to the vet. The little love didn't make it but I was horrified by peoples' lack of compassion.

I saw a hedgehog in trouble once, he was wondering around in the road and the island in the middle. I pulled up after having to fight my way across the road, picked him up and took him to a vet, but the little guy didn;t make it. What sickened me, is that I was the only one who bothered, so I know exactly what you mean Lonestarpiggies and good for you sweets for helping the little doggy.
Hugs

I made Cubby (the hamster) a great bin cage this weekend and all was well until Ellis, one of my cats, popped the screen off the lid, climbed in the bin and took a nap, since he couldn't get back out of the hole in the lid. McKenna came running into the room saying, "Mommy, Mommy, Ellis is in Cubby's cage!" I just about died, thinking he'd hurt Cubby, but Cubby was sound asleep in his house. Time to figure out Plan B for the lid...
