Big boy Ellis won't be able to break into Cubby's lid now! I drilled holes and screwed the screen in - the duct tape is just to cover anything sharp.

But Ellis was just being friendly, Mom!!! That is definitely a cat-discouraging job!!!

My fiesty Buster has crossed to the Rainbow Bridge. He lived to be 17 1/2 and had a wonderful, full life, but that doesn't make it any easier at the moment. We will all miss his wild cat meow and his strut.

Thanks everyone. It's been an adjustment and I've cried quite a bit, but we're hanging in there. The other 2 cats are wanting extra attention, so that's helping all of us. I don't think the dogs realize Buster's gone. I have to pick up his ashes today, so that will be hard, but it does offer some closure. We've had 2 of our past dogs and another cat cremated, so Buster's box of ashes will join his other friends'. Ahh, so sad to see the stack of boxes get bigger, but that's what happens when you have multiple pets. My sister jokes that by the time I die I'll have a whole room in my house devoted to pets' ashes.

When I loose a baby, I find it a comfort to make more of a fuss of the ones I still have.

Ellis has decided that Bitty Baby's crib makes the perfect cat bed!

All this rat talk on Treen's rat thread got to me! I decided to get a pair of rats again...I told you I wouldn't be able to wait, anaira, lol. I wanted to get some from a rescue, but all I could find were older rats. I would love to adopt some, but I didn't want my kids to get attached and then have them pass. I ended up going to PetSmart, where they had one little dumbo female who had been by herself for the last 2 weeks. When we got her out of the cage, she was skittish from lack of animal and human contact. I felt so bad for her and knew I had to give her a home. Since there weren't any other dumbos, I got a fancy rat for a friend and they get along great. McKenna wanted to name the fancy rat Sleeping Beauty, her favorite princess, so I said how about Rory, which can be short for Aurora. There was a discussion about whether the dumbo should be Belle or Ella (for Cinderella) so we decided on Bella, a combination of the 2, not the Bella from Twilight, lol. Here are a few pics, will get better ones later. Rory Bella

It is something to really look forward to though.
